I always try to find something positive in every situation. Unfortunately, it is impossible to do so based upon my one experience at this restaurant. I sat down & waited quite a while for a waitress to even acknowledge me. Since only two other tables were occupied, I really didn't understand the long wait. I ordered a soda and it took over five minutes for the waitress to bring it to me. The place was empty, can you imagine if it was busy? Everyone would starve to death. I ordered a BLT with no lettuce and extra tomatoes. I was able to substitute potato salad for the fries. I waited & waited and when my sandwich finally arrived it had lettuce & the amount of bacon was minimal. Round two; I sent the sandwich back to be prepared correctly. Another ten minutes pass & my waitress brings me a new BLT. I was starving & I couldn't wait to eat my sandwich. Well they left off the lettuce & doubled up on the tomatoes, but where was the bacon? The sandwich was basically tomatoes with two strips of bacon, and that's even stretching it. I decided to leave because my server did not come back to check on me. I brought the check to the cashier, who I believe was either a manager or the owner. Whoever he was, he had no "people skills" whatsoever. I explained the situation to him & he laughed, yes he laughed. I didn't find him to be so funny & I had no problem telling him so. He was cocky and lacked class. The kicker is he had the audacity to charge me for my soda, which was still sitting on the table untouched. Whatever, I wasn't going to argue with this "man-child" so I paid for my beverage and told him he was unprofessional & shouldn't be working with people. His response and I quote: "I don't care, I am having a great day." Wow, just how arrogant can one person be? I can not recommend Jacob's based upon my own experience but maybe yours will be different. I really hope so. Went there for breakfast on a Thursday because the Palm Diner was packed and I don't feel like waiting for breakfast and the wait would have been at least 30 minutes. Anyway, Jacob's was empty as usual. I pass by there quite a bit when I got to Publix and it never is crowded. Anyhow, I had eggs and french toast wife had one egg and one pancake. Food was ok service could have been better as people who must have been regulars got their drinks before we got ours. Anyhow, why I gave one star....the people who appeared to be "regulars" brought their rat dog in to the restaurant with them. Dog was in a rat dog stroller. First, I thought that the law still prohibited all but service animals in restaurants but no one said a word. What really ticked me off was that the waitress was playing with said rat dog and then served food and I KNOW she didn't bother to wash her hands so you would figure with pandemic still abounding that they would take a little more care. I know some people are going to think I'm being overly dramatic but hey, this is the time to be extra careful. Keep the pets out and wash often. read more

Met some of my husband's friends that he has known for 50 years! The restaurant was clean and inviting. Not crowded but had a respectable crowd. We had a large enough table for all of us and able to order amicably to the waiter. The menu offered a nice choice and variety. And indeed there was a sign on the door explaining that food costs had gone up please forgive them for their cost increase. Which I felt was respectful as I have indeed been grocery shopping and complain about food costs each time. Food was delivered in a short time. Wow portion size was great and the food was delicious. The bread was fresh and at least a half inch wide. Cold cuts were plentiful and the potatoes were huge. The salad I had was so big we each had to take home food. Was sat at a dirty table. The other tables around me were dirty as well. There was only like two other people in the restaurant. The guy/maybe server took like five minutes to come back with a menu. So I sat at this dirty table with no menu, when he did bring the menu, I asked for coffee and water please. That didn't come. I continue to sit there for at least another 10 minutes With no service. Some girl came in, she walked by like 3 times said nothing & started wiping and cleaning tables on the other side of the restaurant. The owner was on the phone. I could hear his entire catering order that he was doing and then he got off the phone and just stood there doing nothing to see if anything was going on. So I left. read more

My first concern was it was four PM on a Tuesday and the employees couldn't be more unhappy to be there. It's a deli / diner but they don't have prices on the paper menus, which should have been my second concern. My third concern was the loud television show blasting from the kitchen which sounded like screaming Muppets being murdered. After awhile I couldn't take it anymore and asked the manager at the counter, who was preoccupied wrapping plastic wrap around bowls of soup, if they could turn the tv down and he shrugged and said "Oh, I don't know." I paid for my iced tea (which was too watery) and left so I can't attest to the food quality. I went next door to the Italian place (Mama Mia's) and had an amazing meal there instead. read more

I did not come to live in Florida to eat. Actually I'm not so impressed with most Restaurants I have dined in here in Floridia. Plus, when you ae retired and still able to cook for yourself, why bother with mediocre restaurants. But, every now and then you are a little lazy and of course one is oligated to call date night with the spouse to maitain maritual stability. Friends and neighbors highly recomended Jacobs. We were not disapointed. The only difference between a NY Deli Restaurant and Jacobs is in New York the surley staff at least flashes a smile on occasion even if they are wearing masks. The eats however transported me back to Katz's Deli where I have been eating there before I could even walk. Hey, I can cook comprable corn beef at home, but I can't, unless I am willing to go the distance to not only put meat on the table but to also have a chopped liver appetizer, really fresh rye bread and a potato latkes all served at the same time. This was just ecstacy for me. Must say Jacobs the real deal! The only FYI -- Wasn't thrilled with the marginal matzo ball soup! One may want to avoid. read more

Went for lunch with my wife today. She ordered a Reuben & I had the corned beef we both had fries. I noticed the fries tasted not quite right. Anyway when we got home an hour or so later all hell broke loose. Our stomachs were in bad condition we both were hurting. Never again will I patronize Jacob's. The food here is vastly an improvement over the old management. The gentleman operating the establishment is Hispanic, and his name is Jose, and he makes the best sandwiches around town. My wife and I love their corn beef, rye bread, mustard, and pickle. This grade is all about the amazing food and great service. This is a true deli and they know what they're doing. Amazing pastrami and fresh turkey. The pickles, fries, everything just fantastic. It's not fancy to look at but it is an absolute must try. For background, i am comparing this place to the best in Manhattan. Frankly, the bread here pushes it up to Katz's level and maybe better. We usually take out from Jacob's once a month or so. Their baked Salmon is IMO us the best around, as his his pastrami n corned beef. Lox is excellent and cut well. You can tell they value their customers by making sure everything is delicious and on time. read more

Have been going to Jacobs for years! Food is always good! Tonight we had matzo ball soup and corned beef sandwiches. Both were delicious! Love Jose Jacobs the new owner. He is a hard worker (33 years) and we are thrilled he is now the owner! We will come there as often as possible and support this wonderful man in his new endeavor (the owner). I was in the area for a business lunch and decided to try Jacob's Restaurant. The place was clean and the staff were very friendly. The service was excellent. I ordered a lean corned beef and tongue on rye. It was the best I ever had. I live in Boca and was talking to a friend on mine today. Of all the restaurants I have been to in the area, this is absolutely the worst. Terrible service, no training of the waiter he had no knowledge what was available for the desert selection. I ordered A roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes. The roast beef was sliced deli meat that was so rare it was difficult to cut and they did not have any mashed potatoes. Horrible! "Matzo ball soup" was a tasteless broth, that appeared to be boxed chicken broth. No vegetables, no chicken just clear broth and matzo ball. No seasoning, no salt, no pepper...nothing! Balls were decent but both the broth and matzo balls were served Luke warm cold. Dinner was Chicken livers. First they were served raw. Sent them back. Then they were just tasteless. Served on a barren white plate. Portion we're smLl and the plate was over sized. Made the dinner look even smaller and less attractive. The latka also did not taste like it ever met a potato. It was also cold. Did not come with apple sauce or south cream. No bread or rolls served. It was simply liver and onions on a plate with a small serving of mixed vegetables. Totally frustrating because I really did want to support them. But save your money. Go to Flakowitz not far. read more

Me and my family were hoping for a great breakfast at home but no one wanted to make any so we decided to pop by for a quick fast breakfast. The service is not the best it took them at least 20 min to give us menus and the place was not full or under staffed. The staff was lazy and don't look that happy to be here. Once we got the food I ordered some house potatoes and eggs but when it came the eggs were fine but the potatoes were not it half of them were either burnt or just not even seasoned. The coffee was good though. I overall would not be coming back but the food was pretty good. But not something I would eat again. read more

Went to a deli with friends, we all ordered soup and a pastrami sandwich . Soup was barely passable and the pastrami was a combination of ends and fat. Which was surprising since we had all eaten there several times. I would certainly give it another chance since I live in the neighborhood. A big however--when I told him the pastrami was not up to par he the owner or manger actually looked me straight on and said F-U and if that wasn't enough he then said kiss my ass. The food, on a scale of 1 to 10 was, in my opinion a 5. The dowdy service was off the scale, in my opinion, a negative -1. It hurts me to be so demeaning but there's a limit to how much abuse one must tolerate. To make matters worse, I watched the rude cashier person berate an old lady.
