This is a salon local to me, and I truly wish they were more than just five stars to rate them!…read more This salon open just before Covid and was almost immediately shut down after the owners made a huge investment in this place. It was such a sad situation. However, they remain closed during Covid as dictated by state law, and even had all of their hairstylist agree in writing to not do haircuts, even at home or in the garage for friends and family. They even compensated people to hang in there, and their people did I've been a customer there, obviously, since before Covid And returned immediately upon their reopening. The salon is very stylish, always spotless with a big team of Holly Professional stylists. The ownership is amazing! Always going out of the way to accommodate customers. It is not uncommon to see at least one of the owners on the desk, taking calls, make an appointment and greeting people. That's a very hard thing to find these days. currently, I'm at home in a wheelchair recovering from a stroke. I made one phone call to the salon and asked about "accommodations" so I can get my haircut and stop looking like a homeless guy on the street! Lol they immediately began to offer options for me to come into the salon and apply those accommodations to make sure that I had excellent service, that I will be safe while on the property transitioning from wheelchair to shampoo station to the stylist station, etc. They did so without a fraction of hesitation . That's why the only word to describe them is "superb"

LATE REVIEW: I grappled with giving this a 3 stars because I wasn't satisfied with my hair BUT…read morethat's a me thing (keep reading for the details), I'm giving it a 4 because the customer service was outstanding. Finding a new hairstylist is just as difficult as finding a new doctor. Whenever I move to a new area I try to ask for referrals from people who have similar hair to mine. I was referred to Alfa Jae Salon by someone who also has curly hair, however, after my visit I learned the person who referred me only gets their hair colored and gets it cut somewhere else. Here's what I liked about the salon: Everyone there was wonderful, they had a very cool eclectic vibe and lots of women were getting unique hair coloring done. I've always worn my hair straight but I'm ready to embrace my natural curl so I made the appointment requesting a cut and styling tips on how to manage my curls. The stylist was very sweet, she gave me a quick tutorial on how to add product and trying techniques, however the cut was average. The owner overheard our conversation because I was asking a lot of questions about layering and needing more shape and she immediately stepped in with some advice for the stylist. I didn't love my hair when I left but I also did hate it. I later learned the stylist I selected was still in training so that made a lot of sense on some of the apprehension she demonstrated and she said if it didn't work out I could come back. Now that I've learned more about styling curly hair I think if I would have scrunched out the crunch and did a little shaking it would have met my expectations. I'll be honest, I am very picky about my hair and own being a difficult client. This salon is great but I needed a more seasoned stylist, had I known she was a junior stylist I would have likely not made the appointment.

I literally can't imagine life without a visit to Marie every six weeks or so. She's a master with color, cut and style and never stops learning and perfecting her art. I am not kidding when I say I had no less than 15 compliments at work the day after my last cut/color. She is however apparently not good at updating her address here (probably because she works practically 24/7), so let me share that she is now at the Wanderlux Suites off of 751 in Durham. My way of remembering is that it is the exit after Streets at Southpoint off of 40. (coming from Raleigh). If you want a stylist with experience who truly cares, this is your place! She recently moved into her new location in Cary. I wanted to change things up. I came to her to fix another stylist's cut I received a week prior. I don't fault the previous stylist as I think I may not have communicated enough to him what I wanted. But, glad I found Marie. We communicated through text to pin down a good time for the appointment. I came to her with some past pics I had and some ideas. Her personalized solution was a long layered bob cut. Watching her technique and showing the progression with the mirror to see the back side the whole way was a nice touch I did not receive at the prior place a week ago. I have been having my hair cut by Becca at this salon for over a year. Basic, 30 minute shampoo…read moreand haircut which always seemed to turn out ok. I decided to treat myself to color and new style right before the Christmas holiday. I am sad to report that it was a mistake. I did not catch the disaster of my coiffure until I was at home and my hair had dried. I usually do not have my hair blow dried because it has a tendency to become quite frizzy. Anyways, after my hair had dried I noticed several glaring issues: 1). The color was absolutely dreadfully done. My roots were touched up in a bright auburn red that did not blend at all into the rest of my hair. The highlights that I had asked for were rose gold-the highlights that I got were bleached blonde some thin and some thick stripes. The rest of my hair was made a dull brown. No blending or toning happening at all. 2). The haircut, completed in about 10 minutes after the coloring processing was finished, was so choppy and completely ruined any of the waves or curls that I had in my hair. It literally left me with a mullet, I kid you not. 3). No extra care for protection of my hair was taken-and it got majorly fried and dried out. I waited and debated about calling Becca to fix the situation, but I decided not to-because she had already done so much damage. Instead, I decided to go to another salon-which was an excellent decision. When I arrived at the new salon, my stylist took a full look at my hair situation for about 3 minutes without speaking. When he finally spoke his words were "I'm sorry you had this done to you." and just shook his head. "You have been given a striped mullet." I was validated. He proceeded to explain what he would need to do to repair my situation, and then gave me a wonderful haircut that involved cutting about 2 inches off my hair all around to bring it back into a workable shape. I did not chose to have the color repaired at this time as the cut was able to minimize that issue a bit. I feel sad about this situation, I did enjoy going to Becca for haircuts, and I wish her well, however, after this I cannot justify returning to her salon for any additional haircare.

My appointment was marked as a "no-show" because they said it was scheduled 45 minutes earlier than when I arrived. However, I showed the receptionist my confirmation email that clearly listed my appointment time as the time I arrived. She said she didn't know why I received that, but they could take me as a walk-in -- only if I paid full price, meaning my deposit wouldn't count. It's frustrating because if the stylist was available to take me, and I had proof of the appointment time I was given, it feels unfair to lose my deposit over what was clearly a mix-up. I've waited over 30 minutes past my appointment time here before without ever complaining because I understand things happen. But apparently, that same courtesy doesn't go both ways. After years of loyalty and even referring family, I will not be returning.
