    Moose in the campground

The previous reviews are not completely off. This place is very over priced for what you get and the spots are tight and they just put some big boulders in to protect the grass but they make the spots even more difficult to get in. But it seems they are trying to improve the park. They are planting new grass seed, trying to even out the gravel, making new signs. The cabins look really nice. The park is quiet and peaceful and there was a moose in our campsite our last night! Basically you stay here if the Virginian is full and you still want to be close to jackson.

We are very disappointed in the campground. It's situated behind "Fireside Resort", a nice lineup of modular, upscale structures. We really enjoyed taking a little tour of them because we're purchasing a tiny home in the future and the plans of the structures were at the top of our list. That's where the "Resort" aspect ended. The campground where we stayed does not by any means have a resort feel. The office does not match the quality caliber of their Fireside Resort structures. The girl who helped us was nice enough but by no means went out of her way to be warm or inviting. When I called ahead to reserve a space she did not offer any information, I had to ask everything I wanted to know about the RV spots. And when we asked for a different location on the lot she failed to tell us it was a 50amp only site. We had already leveled everything and unhitched the truck so we had to dig out our adapter (we thankfully had) in the pouring rain. There are also a few uninhabited rv's sitting in a few spots. It doesn't give off a safe, resort feel. Also, we were told by the female worker that the office would close at 6pm. I walked to the office in the pouring rain at 5pm to purchase a few items and it was already closed. And the most upsetting part of this is that our site was $67 for the off season! Absolutely ridiculous. I wished I would've taken the other reviews more seriously and picked a different location. The two pro's are the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the wifi that reached us even at the back of the lot. If they focused on the RV area as they did the Fireside area, it has some decent potential.

Small quiet park near Teton Village. Nice staff, changed my site without any hesitation. Pricey, but so is everything here.

At night it is dead silent and pitch black and amazing!! 2) There are so many amazing places nearby to be outdoors. Whatever you enjoy....hiking/backpacking, fishing, kayaking, off-roading, horse riding and more. 3) The store (what i think would be called a mercantile) itself of Rim Station has some amazing local items. Local beer, wine and spirits, locally produced clothing, jam and other foods and misc goods. They are such and amazing supporter of local businesses. 4) From an RV perspective, the sites are level, the water is clean and if your up for staying in western Wyoming in the winter they are open year round. its nice with only 12 sites it stays nice and quiet. 5) They have occasional awesome events here. While i was here they had a night of sprit taste testing, live music and amazing home made chips and salsa. It was such an amazing evening meeting with a few fellow RVr's, Local citizens, people passing through and the staff. 6) And the most important part, the staff here!!! I cannot stress enough how amazing the team that manage the facility, grounds and store are!! Every single one of them are absolutely amazing, so personal and so in love with this beautiful area they live and work in. Of everything that make this place special they are the heart of it all! This is not the staff from years past!! so if you were here pre 2019 (i think that is around the time they took over) please, please, please come back and you will be amazed at the transformation here. I want to keep this place a secret because i want to come back here and have a place to stay but i know it won't stay on the DL for long...i will absolutely be back and i highly recommend staying here!!

The camp is great though definitely expect rustic accommodations with the exception of the beds, which are (heavenly) real mattresses. The horses and ride were great - very well-mannered horses and a wonderful evening ride through wildflower-filled mountain meadows, creeks, and up and down reasonably challenging terrain. What my daughter (and I) loved most were the people - Sam was a great cook and friendly guide and our other guide Mariah was incredibly patient with my daughter's barrage of questions and let her help put away tack and feed the horses after the ride. A truly memorable Wyoming experience with many great memories.

The trail ride was such an adventure for this Texas girl who's use to riding on flat ground! The fireside dinner was excellent and the beds are comfortable. It was nice not to have to set up a tent once getting to the campground, everything is ready for you! There is a convenience store closeby if you end up needing anything. It's also just down the road from the entrance to Yellowstone so it's easy to make this horseback riding adventure one of the stops on your trip! He had great visuals and hands-on activities which simultaneously met the learning needs of an 8 year old, a 16 year old and 2 in-betweens. We fished yesterday and I made my displeasure clear several times on the water and off that we were here to catch fish not just take a pleasure rafting trip. I assume he either didn't tell the proprietor or they don't care as they've had yesterday afternoon/evening and all morning today to reach out (it's now noon the following day). Given the crickets, I'm now writing this review. Initially I spoke with Brian on the phone and he put me at ease as did their online reviews. After finding out that we wanted to catch fish and have views he recommended the Snake River for a full day session. Admittedly he said it was one of the final days for fishing the Snake as the water would be rising later this week, but that we would still be good. We shouldn't expect champion trophies as that was another river, but it would still be plenty of cutt-throat Troutt and a lot of fun with an insane view. Typically 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but given we were there for fish, the view and fun only equate to 1 Star. Admittedly we got 1 bite the entire 6+ hours and I reeled it in so we didn't get completely skunked, but I could have saved half the money and just done the scenic raft tour twice as that's effectively what we received. - 5 stars: fishing guide + 5 stars: equipment + 5 stars: views + 5 stars: fun on the river + 2 stars: education (based on expectation set by other reviews) We had Ian and he was a nice guy and overall we had a good trip with some laughs. I like the guy personally and other than catching fish, we had a great time on the river. However, he admitted at the beginning of the day that this was only his 3rd official outing this year on the Snake and later that he had never personally fished from the groups fishing holes. Neither are good signs as both caused alarm. He didn't know where the fish were biting and it seemed clear that this is not his normal fishing area. That's an absolute first for a fishing guide and not a good first. When you're paying this type of money for a fishing guide you should expect them to be intimately familiar with the water and be able to put you on fish. That was most definitely NOT the case. He clearly knows fly fishing and there definitely was some education, but nothing like what was described by other reviewers. I caught on almost immediately and received a few solid tips from him as he mainly focused on helping my wife. We're both first timers, but were quickly casting to specific areas he would point out and following whatever instruction he gave to improve our odds. I think he really tried to help us catch and even verbalized his frustration a few times at us getting skunked, but at the end of the day, it's his job and the reason we pay the hefty fee, for him to know all the honey holes and where the fish are biting today. Did I mention it was our 20th wedding anniversary and we chose to fish for the day? The Good: Ian is a nice guy who loves Fly Fishing They have good equipment and handle all the details They have a cool spot/camp off the river that's a great place to relax and have your lunch The Snake views are stunning In the first 5 minutes we saw a moose, a marmont and was almost boarded by a beaver The Bad: Doesn't know where to find fish on the Snake Doesn't fish this river enough to know where they are biting Isn't a fishing guide at least for this river Bottom line: if you don't care about catching fish and just want to have a good time with great views, then this is the school/guide for you.

He was informative and the boat held some great discussions throughout the trip, which makes it more enjoyable. I was imagining more rapids, but there was a lot more slow parts of the river. The big Kahuna was the one rapid that managed to get everyone except our guide wet. They were taking pictures there which you can purchase online or go to their shop and buy them for 20% off. We even thread the needle towards the end between a couple large rocks. It's worth doing a small 8 person boat. I'd even go in May or June to get more rapids because going at the beginning of August the water flow slows way down losing some of the rapids. They do offer water jackets you can put on under the life vest when you get there. The water was cool but not cold enough to need a wetsuit in August unless you can't handle cool temps. They do offer all that when you Check-in to rent too. If you have young kid, 4th grade or older they let them sit at the head of the boat. They have to be strong enough to hold on going over the rapids.
