No shade. Our least favorite campground in Tetons area. It was 90degrees and our camper van was hot because there was no shade at this camp ground, and since its in the sagebrush its hot and dry. (All others in our 10day adventure we're in a forest). Has Access to the river which is cold and refreshing but not swimmable because current moves quickly and mostly shallow. The staff is a less pleasant than everywhere else we have been in Montana and Wyoming!!! They have the grey water dump stations locked and you can only dump if you are on the reservation list which is really inconvenient. They do not offer a hose for freshwater Potable water so you have to have your own!!! They are only set up for driver side dump/refill. Our van has dual sided grey water for sink and shower. Wouldn't stay there again.

    Dornan's near campground.

Great campground near the moose. We saw three moose and a baby. Great hookups and campfires. Go eat at Dornan's. They have a great grocery, gift, and wine store plus restaurant.

Our tent site in an interior loop

Our group stayed in a tent site at Gros Ventre for 2 nights in August 2016. We had originally planned on trying for a campground further north but fires closed a few campgrounds making the remaining ones very crowded. We were happy to secure a site at Gros Ventre by early afternoon, although I'm sure there were still plenty of sites available late into the day. If you can, try to get one of the sites on the north side that look out onto the mountains. We were given a more interior site with no real view to speak of. Sites can be quite close together with little privacy, but ours was toward the back so we had no one behind us. We were a couple min walk to the bathroom and water spigot. Lots of RVs and other longer term vehicles at this campground but it was relatively quite. However, the staff checking us in were super helpful. They chose a site they thought would be big enough for our two tents and told us we could come back if we didn't like it and they'd figure out something better for us. Later in the day, we asked if there was anywhere to charge cellphones and the staff offered for us to sit out behind the office at a picnic table to use the plug there. Perfect spot to play a couple card games and charge our devices. The campground is on the south side of Grand Teton, its about a 30 min drive to Jenny Lake, but its also nice because its closer to Jackson than the other campgrounds so we went into town for dinner one night. Overall, a decent campground with friendly, helpful staff. Oh! and we saw moose right off the road near the creek driving in!

Beautiful place to explore the area, friendly stuff and amazing views. We stayed here 10 days with our rv in may. Weather was perfect. We had a site with electric hook up. This campground has no showers, just toilets and sinks. No hot water. Dump station at the entrance- free for campers. This campground is nothing for people who wants it perfect. It is very rustic and natural. Office is open from 8 to 5. They don't take reservations- first come first serve. We loved it!

A nice convenient campground. With lots of space. Friendly helpful staff. I was grateful that I was able to stay here. It's a little overpriced and it turns out that it's managed by Vail resorts Inc. and not the National Park Service. For some reason this huge campground has no showers available anywhere. And water is not that convenient as it's only located near the bathrooms. Most campsites offer no view of the mountains which is a pretty tough thing to accomplish in GTeton national Park area. I recommend checking out The gravel road nearby referred to as more Mormon row. Which gives you stunning access to both wildlife and the grand Teton range.

Sandwiched between the broken firepit, the restroom and the power lines, our tents were pitched on river rock and ash.

This campground is an excellent example of supply and demand at work. Campers have no choice but to stay here regardless of quality of the experience because the area is overused and underserved. I have camped a lot all over the US, Canada, and Central America and this is the worst I've seen. The staff should be embarrassed, and frankly it's hard to understand how government supervisors haven't done their job to ensure a basic quality standard. Yet they still expect their $25/night. Rocks everywhere, nothing flat enough for a tent, truly dirty, a broken fire pit with chunks of concrete from the fire pit thrown around. Looks like it's never been raked. I've seen alleys that were better kept.

In other words, this creek is gorgeous--you must see it. I came to Jackson for a retreat over the weekend with Junior League CARE Fair directors and chairpersons. Every time we left and returned to our cabin, we got to enjoy this view. We even had the opportunity to walk alongside the creek. It was very easy and the view will vanish every worry you have. There are several well made bridges that you can walk/drive over as well. Area is very clean with crisp blue water. It didn't look too deep, but it was so perfect that to even dip my feet in the water seemed offensive to mother nature. Not to say I wasn't tempted. Overall, I probably wouldn't drive 5 hours just for this one creek, but the surrounding contains so many scenic opportunities that you have to hit up this place if you're in the area. You just have to. Happy travels, my Yelpers!

Sure, the mountains here don't captivate you with their granite-tipped titillation, and there aren't the glacial lakes that you'll be mesmerized by in Grand Teton National Park, nor will you mistake this area for the magnificent Wind River Mountains, the Bighorns, or the Snowy Range, but my oh my, Granite Creek is one pretty, pretty piece of nature. The USFS campground is one of the best I've found in the northern Rockies, with great sites overlooking the creek and sheltered by pines and awash in wildflowers from mid-June to August. The Granite Creek Falls are powerful to behold: not ethereal like Yosemite or awesome like Niagra or Multnomah, but what they lack in vertical elevation and volume they make up for in up-close-and-personal intimacy. You can literally dip your toes in the raging white torrents that fall from above into a creek that is so pure and clean that moose, elk, bear, and cranes simply love to stay here. You'll also find a superb CCC hot springs up the road, where you and your friends/family can soak in bliss while enjoying easy access to the Gros Ventre wilderness a mere mile or so up the main trail that follows the creek to its source. If you are in the Jackson Hole area, a side trip to Granite Creek - on dirt and gravel roads well maintained by the Forest Service - offers you another glance at Wyoming's wild lands that you won't find at Grand Teton. The falls are a great side trip, as are the hot springs, and the campground is well suited for car campers and RVers alike. All in all, this is a part of the Cowboy State that I never tire of seeing, season in, season out. Who needs to stay in Jackson for hundreds of bucks when affordable, adorable places like this are so close and enticing?

My friends and I rented a Honey Bear cabin, and it was the perfect size for the five of us. Inside, there is a sink and mini fridge, and lots of pots/pans/plates to use. No stove, but that was fine by us. They provided a grill outside, which we used to grill some brats one night. The rest of the time, we just used my Coleman stove and cooked on one of the picnic tables outside our cabin. The staff here were so friendly and helpful, which I've found to be a trend in Jackson in general. Every night, they would come around and light a campfire (a gas campfire) for us, which was lots of fun to sit around and enjoy. The campground itself is very well maintained, it was super clean and pretty. The layouts of the cabins made it really easy to chat and connect with others staying at the campground, since we all shared a common area to cook and sit by the fire. Overall, I really really enjoyed this place. It's a great price (comparatively) if you're looking to visit Jackson/the Tetons but avoid the super high prices of places you may find located right in Jackson. I had no issue with driving a little extra to save a bit of $$. I would definitely stay here again.

At the last minute, I had tacked on an extra day and really wanted to do one night under the stars. So I booked a night here through Recreation.gov. Jenny Lake Campground is a really beautiful campground. The campground hosts were really nice and gave me lots of information about the area. I had limited gear because I flew in and they directed me to a couple spots where I could do some shopping for food and supplies. Jenny Lake Campground is a small 51 site campground that is a few hundred yards from the east shore of Jenny Lake. No trailers, campers, or generators are allowed. It is tent camping only which I loved because it made it so peaceful. Maximum per site is two tents, one vehicle, and six guests for up to seven nights. There are food storage lockers on hand because bear activity is frequent in this campground. I'm a big outdoorsman and really enjoyed my night camping here. So dust off the old Kelty and prepare for a more primitive experience. No generators, no RV's, just tents. This is a very desired campground. Reservations are usually made well in advance. If you're flexible watch for cancelations. That's what we did. So one thing to be aware of is this is an area that is frequented by lots of wildlife. On our visit we saw deer and fox. But bears are around as well. So food must be kept in your vehicle or the provided metal storage box. Dishes are washed in camp and then you dump the dirty water and debris in the toilet. This is though if your are in one of the spots that's away from the single bathroom facility. Phone service is ok to poor to non existent depending on your carrier. I had an ATT phone and Verizon. Verizon is a no go. ATT had service in the campsites near the restroom. Most people (including myself), want to get away from the internet and phones. But if you need to be in contact for work or whatever plan ahead. Finally, this is a prime location in one of the more beautiful spots on earth.
