Apparently my legally registered service dog isn't welcome here. I've shopped at Jack's Surf Shop many times without an issue, so this was a complete surprise. The man who approached me, who I believe was the manager, told me that even service dogs weren't allowed inside. He wasn't respectful or willing to have a conversation, he simply pointed me toward the door and made it clear I needed to leave. What made the experience even more disappointing was that another customers walked out with me and shared their own negative experiences with the same manager. It's hard to understand how someone with such poor customer service is still representing the store. He's driving customers away, not bringing them in. Jacks is the coolest store! They have so many things to choose from for men and women and they are highly discounted. This shop has been here in San Clemente for so long. I bought an excel wet in November 2023 and used it all winter. When I started using it again in September of 2024 I noticed it was coming apart in several spots on the back. Jacks said I would have to deal directly with excel to get it replaced which they agreed it should be replaced. Of course excel is saying I need to send it in to be repaired but then I won't have a full suit. I would definitely not buy from Jacks again because I think they should be standing behind the products they sell and dealing with the manufacturers. read more

Went in Sunday evening (September 17th) to get a wet suit for my fiancé. Gentlemen working was super helpful, asked us as we walked in if we needed any help and took us right to the type of wet suit we were looking for. Immediately told us about the sale they were having. I saved up my money for 2 weeks to get a wetsuit, 30 minutes after I buy the wetsuit I'm trying to put it on at the beach and the arm sleeve was torn. Walked into this Jacks hoping I could exchange a pair of pants. Asked the man working today if he could point me in the right direction so I could find the right size and he said "everything is kind of everywhere so you are welcome to search" and I had the Receipt and the man mumbled and said I can't return this or exchange because you purchased this from a different Jacks Surf Shop. Came by last weekend to grab some items before my youngest starts at University of Hawaii. There is a mind-numbingly large selection of t-shirts and shorts, most of it with deep discounts as much as 50%. My wife and I were there for almost an hour combing through the racks and managed to find several brand name tees and shorts, all for much less than we would pay at retail stores. There were also some cool backpacks for $20 which is great for the little ones. The store is right in the shopping district of Downtown San Clemente. I came to buy a wetsuit for surfing based on a friend's recommendation from this place. I drove all the way from Irvine. The shop has a wide variety from pretty much everything! Affordable prices but the discount varies based what you're buying and brand. The staff was good despite I came here expecting some unpleasant interaction based on what I read from some customers on Yelp. Once I came in I asked someone for help with the wetsuits and an old man came in asked me what I want to use it for then walked me through the different types, prices and recommended that I try one which I liked and eventually bought. After I put it on, another staff member - younger dude - gave me some guidance on how I should feel moving while it's on to decide if it's the right size. Overall, it's an experience and price worth of my ride for a 60 minutes round trip! read more

Great service from young Bryce! Greeted us, asked if we needed help with surfboards, showed us the sizing charts for wet suits and answered questions. Even helped through the fitting process answering questions on appropriate fitting,space and tightness for wet suits. The suits were 30% off, so the store was quite busy. We felt customer service stayed at an optimal level. Will return for future clothing, surf and snow needs at a discounted rate. Also had great prices on boards, next trip. read more

I live in San Clemente and visit this store often. I have two young kids and it is great to find Roxy, Hurley, Billabong, Quicksilver, Stance Socks and other surf clothes discounted 40%. They have a great selection and are always very friendly and helpful. Huge selection of surfboards and wetsuits all marked down. The store will exchange unused items but it will not give you cash or store credit. I see a lot of complaints on here about the guy that runs the store. He has always been extremely nice to myself and my kids and always offers the kids free stickers. This is great place to shop!! Thanks Jacks!! read more

I recently bought a nice wetsuit from Jacks. I think their selection and prices were far better than the Rip Curl Store. Typically you can expect 10% off at Wet Curl. These guys had most stuff 30-40% off! Also, the staff was super helpful. I'm not a pro or even advanced surfer and I didn't feel like they held that against me either. Highly recommended!! read more

The clothes are great and always get a great deal but the employees are terrible. They follow you through the store and don't give you space, and they don't trust anyone. I always have to stop by Jack's when I'm in San Clemente! The location is great; right down the street from the pier. There are other good shops and eateries on the same street. There are great brands and styles of street clothing for men and women. There are definitely a lot more items for men than for women but they have a good selection of board shorts. As for as women's bathing suits go, their selection falls short. But I always just browse around for cute beachy casual wear. Since this is an outlet, their items are cheaper. I am very unhappy after buying an expensive watch here. The stock is old which means the batteries are dead or near dead. To buy and replace a battery yourself voids the warranty. I should be able to get my money back on an item bought within 2 days that does not work. Owner was reluctant to exchange (we had receipt and all packaging), suggesting that we contact the manufacturer. Second exchanged watch does not work either. Buyer beware! read more

So just going to throw it all out there- Pros: - Amazing deals! You can't beat everything being half off. You just can't. - Really convenient. Every san clemente local makes a stop here at least once a month. - Always new stuff so if you don't find what you're looking for then you can just come back and it will probably be there - Customer service is usually fantastic! Some employees practically do all the shopping for you which is beyond appreciated. - Kid friendly! My 5 year old asked me to have "the short haired jack's girl" babysit him if that says anything. Cons: - Hotter than Texas! Be ready to sweat it out in there. Props to the employees for not dying. - EXCHANGE ONLY....so that sucks - Did I mention that it's hot? Just found out about this place and wish I would have sooner. The difference in service between the regular retail locations and this outlet are night and day. The regular retail locations have some of the most unfriendly, unhelpful, and snotty employees. At the outlet location, everyone was SO helpful and made finding what I needed (board bags) much easier. I called the day prior to going and the girl who answered took the time to go look and see if they had a bag to fit my board size and gave me the price. I would never get that kind of service at the regular locations, maybe management at those stores can learn something from the outlet employees. read more

Everything's fairly easy to find and if you can't find them there will be no problems with asking an employee for some assistance.
