Went in going with a "hotel" mindset for expectations and this exceeded them all!! Super nice…read morewaitresses & all the food came out hot and handmade. Ordered the burger special, bbq sandwich & fried shrimp dinner. French fries that came with the specials were super yummy. Burgers were missing the pickles and couldn't find waitress to get more, and the sautéed veggies I'd skip next time. Overall would easily eat here again at our stay! *breakfast was also great would recommend the french toast & potatoes.

Restaurant Review: A Second Chance Squandered at Grill 22, Guin, Alabama…read more Each year, my family and I make the journey from Florida to visit relatives in the quiet town of Guin, Alabama. With that tradition comes a recurring hope: to enjoy a satisfying meal rooted in Southern hospitality. Unfortunately, our recent visit to Grill 22 proved once again that not all second chances are worth taking. After a deeply disappointing experience in the past, the restaurant's management had extended an invitation for us to return and give them an opportunity to make things right. Regrettably, that gesture of goodwill was not matched by the quality of the food. If anything, this visit confirmed that Grill 22 remains one of the most underwhelming dining experiences I've had in recent memory. Let's start with the nachos -- or more accurately, a scattered pile of Doritos topped with lukewarm processed cheese, a smattering of black beans, and aggressively salty pickled onions. Calling it an appetizer would be generous; calling it edible would be dishonest. The chicken wings, which could more aptly be described as emaciated pigeons and arrived dry and sinewy -- hardly the juicy, flavorful bar staple one might expect. My wife's choice, the so-called "margarita flatbread," was equally baffling. It bore little resemblance to the classic Margherita flavors. Instead, we were served a sweetened tomato-and-cheese concoction on dough that tasted more like a school cafeteria experiment gone wrong. But perhaps the most egregious offense was the ridiculous pricing. Grill 22 demands a premium price point for what can only be described as gas station-grade food. The ingredients, preparation, and execution fall so far below acceptable standards that it feels insulting to be charged full-service restaurant rates. To be clear, this isn't a case of a kitchen having an off night. This is a systemic failure in culinary judgment and quality control. It's deeply frustrating -- not only because of the wasted time and money, but because no guest, local or visiting, deserves to be served food of this caliber. In a region known for warmth and hearty, soulful meals, Grill 22 is a stark outlier. If you're passing through Guin and find yourself hungry, I'd strongly suggest you take a detour -- even a fast food drive-thru would deliver a better, and more honest, experience.

Been stopping here for a few years whenever we come through this way. Food has always been good…read more The fried livers are good if you like liver. The beef philly sandwich is awesome! Really can't go wrong with food here, made fresh, have never had an issue. If you come on a day they have the peanut butter cake slices out, get one or more! So good! Well, 5 months later, stopping at the fuel station to fuel up and grab a bite for the road. Got the usual, the philly sandwich, good as usual. A bit busy this evening. Took awhile to place my order. Maybe next time I'll grab something different.

My wife hyped this place up a bit. Not sure her memory is holding up…read more She has been here and eaten it before. I normally just grab a drink or water when I have come through. On the way back from AL we stopped for gas and were hungry. This place is connected to, and part of the gas station. Normally I would not review a place like this, but I feel I should be a sort of warning for Yelp-type travelers. Not recommended! Food is not good. C decided she wanted cheeseburger casserole or some shit. Cashier called it hamburger helper. That should have been enough to walk away, but as I grabbed some salt and pepper off the counter she says, "oh yea, your going to need that, the morning cook doesn't season the food at all. She is looking out for all of the elderly that come here". Sign number two and three. No seasoning added and it was made by a morning cook. It was 18:40 at this point. Should have run to the car right then. We added three packs of salt and a whole packet of Texas Pete, but nothing helped. Add the fact that's it was a mushy mess. Nope. I thought chicken tenders and potato wedges would be a safe bet, but was wrong. They were so dry I think I tore my esophagus trying to swallow them. I picked through it and got a few bites but then just threw it away too. Would not do it again for any reason. Cashier pulled the extra star for being cool and trying to warn us. It's in an old dirty gas station. Just pass by. '26 - 94
