Though not the best of circumstances had brought me back to the city I call home, I was still me in that I needed to find somewhere (locally owned if possible) to get a cup of coffee. Yelp put this place at the top of the list and so I stopped in for a recharge. I returned a few hours later, with family, to actually sit down for a cup of coffee and a cranberry orange scone. Let me be clear when I state that I got out of the car expecting not just caffeine and something homemade, but the warm welcoming Southern hospitality that resides in Fayette. And I got a extra large helping of it when I entered. The ambiance was one of comfort, like seeing family during the holidays. The space is also larger than you would expect. Plenty of room to stretch out and converse. You might want to block out a few hours your first time, just to unwind. The team here had a smile on their face and a sense of pride in the business that is rarely seen these days. Quick, knowledgeable, and ready-to-serve they had our orders prepared in a short time. The scone and the coffee didn't last long, but you already assumed that. If I had not been so full from lunch there would have been a few more treats/slices of cake coming my way. But alas, I will have to wait till next time. If you live in the area, count your blessings that you have such a place and be sure to support it regularly. If you're traveling through, be sure to stop in even if only for a drink and pastry to take with you.

I got a hot coffee one day, & an iced americano the next day. I'd do the americano again for sure. Especially with the hot weather here, iced is the way to go I'd say. I love the style and decor of this place. The Millhouse has an antique style with a modern American flair. Very nicely executed and feels very comfortable. There is a small swag shop inside with T-shirt's and merch and a high top long table toward the back offering a chessboard and other fun game activities. They offer a moderate coffee house lounge area with free WiFi just opposite the modest dining room. I loved the leather blacksmith apron uniforms. Nice touch. The service was a bit sluggish as there were very few guests in attendance and have a counter area where you pick up your food after you order. The staff were a bit quiet and not engaging. Alabama is known for its Southern hospitality. I would have liked to hear some gentle background music. The food was spot on, from the avocado toast to the maple glazed bacon egg and cheese sandwich. You know I appreciate the fresh ingredients and the focus of presentation. Nicely done and delicious! The coffee drinks were flavorful and tasty. Barista quality! This is a definite winner for the morning start! I would recommend stopping in and checking it out! KUDOS Y'all! Billy P.
