2 onion ring orders that are unevenly cooked. One is burnt and the other underdone.

Used to love this place until the new owners took over. They seem to only be open when it's convenient for them. First time ordering from the new owners I had an order I placed and it was cancelled when there was 2 hours left until close and had to wait a few days for my money to be returned (I'm on a budget so I couldn't eat that day). Another time I got food and it was so gross. It was greasy, undercooked, and unevenly cooked (check out the photo). Once upon a time this place was awesome but not anymore.

I stopped here for lunch after seeing that this place has been going since 1962 so it must be good I thought. It's a complete dump thats small with takeout only. The place was busy cranking out orders while I looked over the small menu and the chicken dinner is is $8 which is reasonable for 4 pieces of chicken with frys, coleslaw and a dinner roll. My fried chicken dinner was cooked to order and it was nice to see them pull fresh chicken from a fridge. My order took about 15 minutes and I was off. The chicken dinner looked good so I started with the frys which were not seasoned enough and fairly bland. The chicken had a thin crisp coating with very moist and tender meat I thought but like the frys it was bland and needs seasoning. It's definitely not 21 herbs and spices but a little salt helps.

The menu!

“Besides the chicken, they serve the best coleslaw I have ever had and onion rings that no other place even compares to.”

But the interior was very cool and the area was very pretty. They have a nice outdoor patio, inside bar and table seating. Plus they have several arcade games and sweet merchandise. Service was friendly and everything was clean. They had quite a few beers on tap so I opted for a flight. I sampled the cramden bike-fruited sour, Punchy the clown-sour, Bangers-Strawberry Rhubarb Piehole-gluten free sour, and I Gotta Have My Hops-imperial ipa. They were all really good but my favorite was the strawberry rhubarb. It wasn't overly sour but was more sweet and was just a nice, light, summery drink. For dinner I had the Cuban B-smoked pulled pork, ham, pickle chips, honey mustard, and Swiss cheese on a hoagie roll. It came with a side of fries. The Cuban was delicious. The flavor was Smokey and sweet with a little acidity. It was really well balanced and was very tasty. Highly recommend. The fries were crispy and crunchy and not overly salted. I'd definitely order them again. Highly recommend that you stop in if you're in the area. If we end up around here again, we'll definitely stop in again.

Stopped by 1st & Main recently for lunch with a group of four…read more They're a seat yourself kinda spot and you walk into bar seating as well as bar height tables. If you're with folks who wouldn't be comfortable in seating that height (as we were), not to worry! They have additional traditional table seating through a doorway to the right of the bar. They have a large menu so there's definitely a little something for everyone. I ordered the brie grilled cheese with fries. It was good. I expected more flavor from the brie (it tasted very mild) but the jalapeno jelly added a nice sweetness and a bit of flavor. The atmosphere is your standard pub. It's in a historical building and they provide a bit of the history on their menu which was neat to read. The service was accommodating and efficient. Get to it!

I can't express how much we all liked this place and can't wait to be back.
