So was a bit frustrated trying to figure out what I wanted to order not knowing what they had and it took few minutes for them to get the screens on.

The décor strikes a perfect balance between local flair and vintage diner charm, packed with enjoyable little tchotchkes that give the place a personality all its own. The waitstaff is fast, friendly, and on top of everything. Service is efficient without ever feeling rushed, and the prices are more than fair for what you get. The food? Exactly what you'd hope for from a great diner: simple, satisfying, and delicious. Dubuque Mining Company delivers exactly the kind of experience it promises. The only reason it's not a five-star review is because it can be tough to get a seat during peak times--but that just proves people know it's worth the wait.

This DQ really has that southern hospitality feel. I'm from Louisiana so this is a pretty important factor to me. The food is not only good quality, but it is delicious! I always try a different ice cream and you gotta try their pizza burger! Furthermore, I will drive many many miles just to eat at this DQ. There are so many Dairy Queens out there but at this DQ you are the queen.

The containers for the burgers were generic styrofoam instead of the brand cardboard ones. The biggest disappointment was that they had gone and purchased blah buns somewhere. The chicken pieces vary a lot in size and often times, someone gets 3 extra small pieces, some mixed and some normal sized. Sometimes they try to make up for smaller pieces by putting 4 pieces in but not consistently. The chicken is delicious. Usually the Sundaes are made with ice cream, strawberry syrup and another fallow of ice cream. Tonight, it was just the first ice cream dollop and then the syrup, leaving off the second dollop. The ratio was definitely off tonight, for the first time. The place is clean and brightly lit. I do wish the soda machine didn't have so much carbonation. It takes forever to fill a cup with all the start and stop for foam to go down. I do wish there was more consistency here. It seems the employees each do their own thing. I did notice that the guy working tonight seemed to just be going through the motions and he is the one who made the sundaes.

They just weren't up to the usual delicious hot fries we are used to from here. It was a bit busier tonight and one of the soda machines had a sign over it saying the ice was out and to use the other machine. For once, the music wasn't super loud, which made for easier conversation.

They are locally sourced - I think ours were from a farm near Centralia. Truly are hand cut, fried to perfection, and an extra scoop in the bag. And I always love a place with a Coke-centric "do it yourself" beverage center. Friendly service - although that's a standard in Iowa. Too much ice in the parking lot.
