Although is not anything fancy, it was always a very popular place inside the Kennedy Mall great for get togethers with friends and family while even a great place to watch sports. My husband and I recently visited Dubuque Mining Company while visiting Dubuque. This place still has great variety of burgers, sandwiches, and some dinner specials such as sirloin steak at affordable prices! The real reason people come here is for the incredible cocktails! Definitely try their most popular drink the "Cave In" which comes in a giant glass quart mason jar! The Cave in is seriously one of the most delicious fruity cocktails you will ever have giving you a nice buzz which is a mix of Gin, Vodka, Rum, orange juice and six mixers. Since the drinks are delicious but potent I wouldn't have more than two or have a safe way to get home! My husband and I started off with the cheese curds which were okay but it threw me off that the Dubuque Mining Company doesn't make their own restaurant style in house made ranch which I took a star off for. When I asked for ranch they only had Hidden Valley Ranch Packets. As a ranch dressing lover, I honestly judge restaurants on their ranch :) which I love dipping my fries in, eating with other sandwhiches, salads, and cheese curds. We also got the chicken sandwich and the Kinda Reuben burger. Both were a nice portion size and delicious! Our friendly server delivered excellent service by being very attentive! Placing our order when we got the drinks was perfectly timed. I had the Roadkill with the mushrooms and onions on top, a side of baked potato and salad with bleu cheese. This salad is the perfect size for an entire lunch salad. Eggs, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, red cabbage and croutons! The bleu cheese dressing was thick, creamy and delicious. Others at our table had the early bird deals with pulled pork and 6oz tenderloins. I always take half my dinner home for the next day and there's so much pulled pork, it makes an additional meal as well. Drinks were refilled in a timely manner and to-go containers were brought as well. We did use the kiosk to pay but we always use a custom tip since it isn't accurately calculated, pre-tax, for their estimates. My only complaint is how loud it gets when they do their dance... not just the music (which you can't talk over) but the clapping. It reverberates so much that I actually had to cover my ear that was facing them, as it started hurting my ear with every clap. I have never noticed that issue before but this was the first time we were seated in the bar area, just next to where they do the dance.
