This dr over prescribed my contact lenses. I was having headaches with the new prescriptions, so I went to my old optometrist, who is further away, and was told that the new lenses were way over prescribed. Since I had already used my insurance with Jackman I had to pay cash for a new exam and new contacts. Jackmans like to up sell a lot and the receptionist assumed my insurance didnt cover my exam and she billed me. When I called my insurance company they said it was covered with a small copay, So I had to go back to try to get a refund. Overall bad experience and lost time and money. read more

I found Dr. Jackman on yelp when I was searching for a good optometrist for a specific type of vision correction called Ortho-k. It's a treatment for people who do not like to wear glasses or to risk a permanent damage from LASIK. At first I was unsure about this kind of treatment because I've only heard of a friend who has had it. I scheduled a consultation appoitment with Dr. Jackman and went all the way from LA to OC. They have a nice little waiting area with puzzle toys for kids and they just recently expanded the back for another waiting area. The whole place is bright and cozy which helps me to relax every time I go there. I brought up my problem with normal soft lenses and how I do not want to wear glasses and would like to try Ortho-k. She examined my eyes and explained the pros and cons of each type of treatment that I can consider (she can also refer you to a good LASIK doctor if you need one). After the consultation, she did not push me into decision on the spot but gave me some informative materials on Ortho-k and price with several payment options for my reference. With Ortho-k treatment, you need to commit to several doctor visits to ensure the lenses fit nicely. Dr. Jackman is extremely patient and helpful in each session. Unlike some doctors I've seen, she does not try to rush the sessions to get as many patient as possible; instead, my sessions often exceed the appointment time slot because she is very thorough. She is a perfectionist and called me back even after I settled onto one pair of lenses because she felt I can get better results than what I had already. All in all, I would highly recommend Dr. Jackman to anybody who needs an optometrist. read more

Highly recommended Dr. Jackman!!! At first I thought these post were fake maybe someone working under her to get business, but since she was right across the street from my work, I decided to just go on my lunch break and get my exam. Oh buoy! she was awesome, she was very patient with all my questions and provided me with ALOT of answers that most eye docs don't care to answer or explain, she was very thorough with my exam and identify other vision problems that no other doctors would explain to me and had upto date technology. Also I went to Dr. Jackman because I have Astigmatism and I read on her website that she works with hard to fit eyes, astigmatism...etc. So I figured I'd try this place. I gave her my opinion that I wanted to try Hard contacts cause I heard they work great with astigmatism, apparently Dr. Jackman examed my eyes and noticed my astigmatism isn't on my cornea, but behind it, so soft contacts with toric wouldn't help and neither hard lens so she recomended me to try a certain brand that was between soft and hard contract that would work the best for my eyes and so far I think they work-- when I blink they don't shift around or go blurry for me. At the end, she calculated the best price for me with my insurance and gave me a discount. Buoy was I pleased.... I'm glad that I went with this Yelp review and went to Dr. Jackman because I've wasted so much money on other eye doctors in the last year because every prescription I got, I felt like I still couldn't see clear and wasn't happy, I even went to Costco and Lens Craft and paid out of my own pocket and the eye doctor didn't even tell me anything, but ok your eyes got worst here is your new prescription, please pay at the window. Dr. Jackman is great. My wife and I went to see her a few weeks ago. She and her staff are very thorough and take the time to answer all of your questions. I had my eyes checked a few years ago and was told by someone else that I didn't need glasses. This was my first time dealing with Dr. Jackman and Jackman Optometry. I selected her office randomly from my VSP doctors list through my employee site. I am extremely happy that I did. I hadn't had such a pleasant experience at an optometrist office in quite some time. I can't remember the name of the very pleasant young lady that helped me out to begin with and gave me my initial tests but they went by very quickly due to her pleasant and outgoing attitude. After I had completed the initial tests I met Dr. Jackman. She also had a very welcoming and pleasing attitude. She made me feel at home in her office. I received a very throuough exam seeing how it was my first visit to the office which also went by very quickly. We chatted and I got to know her on a more personal as well as professional level. I really enjoyed the time I spent in the office. After my exams were all complete Dr. Jackman helped me to pick out frames for my new glasses. It had been years since I had a new pair of frames so I had no idea what to search for. She took the time to help find frames that would actually fit my tiny head and narrowed down my selection. After we did that Chris helped me along with narrowing the results to one pair and then went over all of my costs and insurance coverages. Came to Dr. Jackman due to the great reviews and to get new contacts because I ran out. The staff are extremely nice and professional. Dr. Jackman is an extremely nice doctor but when she examined my eyes she told me that I need to go on antibiotics because of the extreme redness in my eyes. I am a college student who stares at the computer majority of my day so my thought is that the redness is normal. I was on antibiotics for about two weeks or so but the redness did not go away. So she put me on steroids (which are expensive especially for a poor college student) which barely helped. I have no idea what was going on with my eyes and neither did she. I was not allowed to wear contacts for almost 3 months and came in for a check up every two weeks... Never got my contacts or an explanation on the results of all my examinations. Therefore my coworkers told me to get a second opinion. I finally got a second opinion and I was able to wear contacts immediately and that my eyes were healthy to begin with. I have been wearing contacts for the past 4 months already and my eyes are completely fine. I understand that Dr. Jackman was just being cautious and she is generous with samples but at the same time I wasted a lot of money and time in the 3 months i saw her compared to the two days i saw my new doctor. Imagine if I never went to get a second opinion, I would probably be wearing glasses right now and coming in for a check up every two weeks. read more

Last year I noticed a funny reflection in the eye of my three year old daughter when I looked at digital pictures taken of her. I had read about Ocular Cancer and this being one of the ways parents were discovering the illness in their children. Naturally, I was very concerned, so I brought my daughter to Dr. Jackman. She was so kind and gentle with my little girl. Three year olds are very leary of doctors and especially having their eyes checked. Dr. Jackman was extremely patient and put Macy at ease. Unless you have money to throw around, I would say avoid this optometrist like the plague. Be warned! The exam was equal to and no better than any I've had before in my thirty years of wearing glasses. But my jaw dropped when I got the bill. I thought, okay, maybe my memory is faulty. That is, until I got home and confirmed that, yes, I did just pay literally twice what I'd paid for 2 pairs of frames & lenses on my last two visits to two different optometrists in the last couple years. Finally an eye doctor that is thorough! This visit was for my kids, 10 and 6, but I also see Dr. Jackman. She was so great with both of my kids. My 6 year old was a bit nervous about getting numbing drops in her eyes and having her use the instrument to touch her eyeball so Dr. Jackman made it seem like no big deal and waited for my daughter to feel okay with it. The visit was very pleasant even though I had two appointments right in a row and if you have kids you know how that can be. I really like this optometrist and her whole practice. They're very organized and they have all the technology in place to make everything really streamlined. They even send text reminders of my appointments. Makes my life so much easier. The office staff is friendly and helpful. They're unbelievably prompt for a medical office-- very little if any wait time. I have a strong, unusual prescription and in the past I've had to choose between comfortable contacts and sharp vision. Dr. Jackman ordered several varieties of trial lenses and went through several evaluations with me-- and did not charge any additional fees for the additional follow-up. Now I have sharp vision and comfortable lenses. Pretty awesome. They also offered some flexibility with payments for me, and helped me time the ordering of my lenses to maximize my insurance benefit. I think it's unusual to find an optometry practice that is so customer-service oriented. I have been going to Dr Jackman for 3 years now and have had nothing but positive experiences. Dr Jackman and her staff go the extra mile to make sure you feel comfortable during your appointment. They send text message reminders regarding your appointment which is a nice touch. They even do appointments on Sundays! They also have a Keurig machine stocked with coffee and tea while you wait. First let me say my eyes are not typical. Having worn coke bottle thick glasses as a child, then lasik surgery that still couldn't bring my eyes to 20/20 and now dryness, age related degeneration and night vision problems. I was way overdue for an exam and decided to change Dr.s due to the long drive to my previous one (plus I always felt they pressured me for additional things). I went to Jackman Optometrists based on yelp reviews. Paperwork is available on line to fill out ahead of time for new patients. Staff is helpful and friendly. Wait time was short. Tests were initially done with staff, then exam done with Dr. Jackman. As I struggled to read the letters on the chart, she was very patient with me. At one time, feeling my frustration, she let my eyes rest a bit before continuing. She took all the necessary time I needed for my exam. She asked a lot of questions and really looked at my eye ball photos. Though eye exams are stressful to me due to my degenerating eyesight, I never felt pushed, rushed or that I was not important. After new glasses a few weeks later (that I love) and another appointment and additional exam, she has referred me to a glaucoma specialist. My old Dr. would have continued to do more of his own exams for the additional dollars. Though these problems have been going on awhile, the old Dr never referred me to specialist. If you want a good eye Dr that you feel you could trust and who cares about your eyes and not just your dollars, I would recommend Dr Jackman. read more
