Dr Broady retired. Opticians who used work for her left too. The current optician was promoting heavily Varilux artificial intelligence lens. They are the highest price lens. I did opt for them. It it took months to get used to them. They also get very dirty. I asked for a comparison chart of lens which my previous optometrist offered to explain different options. They do not have anything to show you and couldn't explain different types very well. read more

Dr. Broady is very friendly and knowledgeable. I have been going to her for years, and just recently underwent LASIK. She's an affiliate of the surgeon, so I can am getting all my pre and post-op visits there. She's given great information on the procedure, medications, and answered all my questions. It had been many years since I had been to the eye doctor. I feared I would receive harsh words from the doctor. I was completely wrong. I was warmly welcomed and treated great by the entire staff. I went to three doctors before coming here to determine what was wrong with my eye. She took the time to really find out what the issue was at the same time very polite and courteous. This was my first trip to the Optometrist since I was a child. I was uncertain of what to expect, but I was surprised by how quick and how pleasant my experience was! The woman who greeted me at the reception desk was very warm and friendly. She also helped me pick out frames that fit me and looked best on me at the end of my appointment. She was helpful and honest about what looked good and what didn't. I wish I could remember her name because she was so great! Dr. Broady was also amazing. I have been going to Cynthia Broady Optometry for several years and she is the best optometrist I've ever had.

I'm not one to give bad reviews, but after coming on here, I see I'm not alone. I would like to start with I really like Dr Broady, she is friendly, smart, makes great recommendations etc. However, after this last episode with her staff I will NOT be going back. When purchasing my lenses I wasn't so sold on what they were selling me, but I was told I could get a refund through VSP (my frames fit fine/I love so I was only getting lenses and planning on getting new sunglasses in April when I could get frames again). I decided to try it since in theory the lenses made sense (and needed to wait a few months for new frames). After a few weeks I did NOT like them (and I honestly gave it the ol college try! But needing to drive at night is more important to me than other 'luxuries') When confronting the staff that I didn't like the lenses, they only offered to continue to upgrade them (for a cost obviously) instead of what they originally told me about the refund-even offered me options A, B, and C -none of which involved going back to single vision glasses OR the refund. I finally got them to 'downgrade' me back to my old lenses (which I'm still confused to as why I wasn't returned them when technically they were MINE after changing them out for these ones). After a few weeks when I went to pick them up, I was told "here you go" and handed them (very nicely-they are all sweet people, I'm not saying they're rude by any means). I asked ummm...is there a price difference? (remembering the original conversation) and they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. Then the other girl said she would look it up and let me know. Later that evening I received an email stating I needed to call VSP for the refund and the number to call etc (no big deal-this was what was originally told to me) but why was this information not offered up without me asking? (Customer Service anyone??) So I immediately replied asking about if there was a difference for the OTHER part of the lens I wasn't happy with and had now been fixed....*crickets*....so around 4 days later (weekend in there-so count at least 1 day for Sunday) I replied again "any word on this?" to which I get an email explaining there isn't a price difference for the other part. Sweet. If you would have explained this originally I would have A. probably not 'tried' them and B. not have needed to ask you in person and then proceed to email you TWICE until I got an answer. To make it worse, I get home and can't figure out why my frames (which fit PRIOR to getting the new lenses just fine) now fall off my face. I discover one of the screws is half out. I attempt to fix and realize they're somehow now stretched out, I brought them to another optometrist and am told they're stretched out now (not a clue how this would happen putting in lenses...but hey, I'm not the professional). Needless to say their customer service and follow up is just NOT worth the amount I paid for frames/lenses there (which I KNOW I can get cheaper elsewhere-but was originally happy with the place so I stayed). I will be finding another optometrist closer to home with better service/prices (especially now that I'm out money for the portion of the lenses that was not reimbursed and probably need new day time frames as well). ugh. read more

The wonderful experience begins the moment you step foot in the door. Dr. Cynthia Broady's practice is clean and beautiful and you are always greeted by the very kind front desk staff. Dr. Broady takes her time with you making sure that she has the very best possible prescription both for your contact lenses and eye glasses. She always offers trials to make sure you are satisfied and truly cares about making sure you have the best sight possible. They also have a very nice selection of glasses on hand. I was a patient of Dr. Broady's office for years, but after the last pair of glasses they sold me, I will never go back. For my last purchase, Dr. Broady's team upsold me on an anti-glare coating for my lenses. I paid extra for this after their recommendation, and it ended up being a disaster. As soon as I started wearing my new glasses, I knew something was wrong. If I got a smudge on my lenses, I couldn't clean them. Any skin oil that touched the lenses would cling to them like a magnet; even a cleaning cloth and cleaning solution would just smear the oil around. I emailed Dr. Broady's office and notified them of the problems I was having cleaning my glasses. They actually had the gall to respond and tell me that the coating should be fine and that no one else had a problem with it. I foolishly believed them and thought I was overreacting. All this "anti-glare" coating got me was two years of streaky vision. Imagine spending 20 minutes at a time scrubbing your lenses just to get them halfway decent, multiple times per day. When I finally went to a different optometrist for my next pair of lenses, I explained the troubles I'd had to the eye doctor there. He tried cleaning my old lenses, but couldn't get them clean! He was appalled at the quality of the lenses that Dr. Broady's office had sold me, explaining that they must have used the most low-grade glare coating available. His office offered a high-grade coating which was easy to clean. Since leaving Dr. Broady's office, I've been to several other optometrists, all of which have had more modern equipment and more robust eye exams. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Broady since she started her practice in "Town and Country" Shopping Center" that used to be located across the street from what is now Main Place Mall. I think that she was only about 14 years old when she started her practice, because she now looks like she is in her mid 30's. The math is confusing me a bit since I think that she started her practice around 1985. Of course, I am now an old gray- haired matron walking with a cane and she looks as if she has visited the "Fountain of Youth". A visit to this office is a wonderful experience. It is like coming home to family. They exude warmth and caring and are very professional. As a Registered Nurse, I always had a bit of a bias and thought that I needed to see an ophthalmologist (Medical Doctor) not an optometrist. I'll admit that after my very first exam with Dr. Broady, I took my prescription for glasses to an ophthalmologist and he confirmed that she was absolutely correct in her assessment. I have NEVER visited an ophthalmologist again. Carla "Office Manager Extraordinaire" is an absolute delight and she even puts up with my wacky sense of humor. For that alone, I give her all of the credit in the world. She is kind and fun-loving and is the best adjuster of glasses this side of The Mississippi. She won't hesitate to give her honest opinion when she assists you in choosing a new frame. Now my only reservation about this office is that "Dr. B" thinks that I am kidding about the fact that she sold me a "Jean Nate" frame years ago. Yes, Jean Nate of bathing products fame. It is a standing joke when I ask for a sample of that wonderful Jean Nate talc or cologne with the "citrus" note. I KNOW my Jean Nate, because it was a frequent gift that my Mom and I purchased for the nuns who taught me in grade school. Since nuns wore full-on habits in those days, it was hard to know what gift would be appropriate; however, it was always "Jean Nate" to the rescue. Well lo and behold, guess what I found on ebay? Yes I found a pair of Jean Nate frames circa 1985. I think that my frames were actually red-not 100% positive. The office itself is clean, has a great shabby chic feel, high tech exam equipment and the best selection/brands of glasses, both super high end and others that are more budget friendly, but still look great. I've never had a problem getting an appointment, and it's also convenient that they're also open on a Saturday. My fiance now goes here and had a great experience. Dr. Broady is a phenomenal optometrist. I went to see her for a simple eye exam and she detected a small hole in my retina at the base of my retina. When I went to see a specialist to have it fixed, his comment was "An optometrist found this?!?" Unfortunately, my insurance changed and I had to stop seeing her. I was later diagnosed with Keratoconus in my left eye which saw my vision slowly get worse from year to year as my cornea. The 2 other optometrists I visited were able to get me to see about 20/40 corrected, but no better and said there wasn't much else they could do about it except a corneal transplant if it got to be severe. Years later, I eventually decided to pay out of pocket to see Dr. Broady again to see if she could do anything to help. She recommended we try a hard gas permeable rather than soft contact in the left eye. I just got fitted for it last week and I am seeing 20/20 out of that eye for the first time in 15 years. I couldn't understand why the other optometrists never suggested it. Her staff is courteous and helpful. I still plan to see her whether my insurance covers it or not as my vision has never been better and I honestly have her to thank for it. read more

I responded to Cynthia Broady's patient survey and shared the same comments. No one introduces themselves so you have no idea who the optometrist it. Also, they do all these tests and don't tell you that they're not covered under your insurance. You end up paying out of pocket when your VSP insurance should have covered everything. Not good practice. I will not return and will definitely warn others to ask if their "tests" will be covered under your insurance before they perform them. read more
