Bizarre unprofessional "consultation". Quick check of your eyes by maybe an optometrist and then the rest of your "consultation" is spent with a salesperson who calls herself a coordinator. When I told her I was interested in RLE surgery, she lit up and a huge smile came across her face! Because it is the pricier vision surgery. A consultation would be learning about the patient and making recommendations. Nope, the entire time was pushing the surgery and a particular surgeon who I could only meet after I put down a $100 refundable deposit to lock in their 1k discount offer. This is eye surgery!!!! Not buying a used car or getting a gym membership. Prior to this place, I have had several enlightening consultations with the surgeons themselves. The staff is very sweet and makes every visit smooth. I was an ortho-k patient but she offered extensive care and preparation that allowed me to commit to the eye surgery. It was a 6 month process but I was able to receive the surgery after recently and I now have great eyesight. Though, I do see some light ring circles at night being exposed to light, I was told this is normal and in a few months it will go away. I was calling around late spring to get quotes for a contact lens exam because my sis got me really nice designer sunglasses with one caveat- I have to finally get contact lens so that I can actually wear them! One of the first place I found on Yelp was IQ Laser Vision and I called inquiring about contact lens exam. The lady I spoke to was super nice and friendly- she told me they don't do contact lens exam because they are a laser eye service. (In hindsight, I really should read names carefully but I called places that are local and pops up at the top of my search lol). Instead of leaving it there and turning me away- she was super professional & good at her job because she said I can have a free consultation for Lasik just to have an alternative option. I had zero intention of doing Lasik because I just wanted some contact lens so I could rock my cool Gentle Monster specs. I reluctantly agreed and we set up a virtual consult. I did the consult but still was unsure about it so I put it off. Towards the end of summer I kept thinking about Lasik and how great it would be to not be reliant on any vision correction accessories anymore and doing Lasik would eliminate all that. I called IQ Laser Vision back to schedule my eye exam and to determine if I am a fitting candidate for the procedure. My sister insisted I call several other places to shop around and get a quote as well so I did. I ended up going to 3 other places. Out of all 4 places that I went to, IQLV hands down had one of the most attentive, caring, friendly and profession staff/team. They have some amazing and modern machines that simplify the exam process whereas other places took a more invasive approach with older techniques. The process from scheduling appointments to doing examination and doctor + quote consultation was so seamless. Everyone I interacted with took their time to explain things thoroughly and answered all my questions. At the end of the day, I felt going with the SMILE procedure was the best option for me. Although it is the most expensive option, it is utilizing a new, modern and less invasive technique with a quicker recovery time. They really work with you on pricing and payment plans so make sure to inquire in detail on what best suits your needs and capabilities. I paid for mine up front because I am able to and you can save a little more money by doing so as well. You can also save some money by letting them know I referred you. Trust me, it'll help :) I am not going to go into all the visit process details because you can read that from other people's review or even just Google it. The procedure was a lot faster than I expected. I barely felt a thing. The doctor was so soothing, talking me through every action she made and before I knew it, I was done. You will have slightly blurry vision and lots of haziness right away and even the day or two after and maybe even a week (depends on the individual), but trust me, don't freak out. It is part of it and it gradually clears up! I know that going in but of course I still panicked a little and guess what? It cleared up in about 1.5-2 weeks. I had my 2-day post-op follow up, then 1 week, then 6 weeks follow-up just last week. My vision is great and I am officially off the artificial tears tight regimen but I still like using it to moisturize my eyes here and there as needed. Doctor Nguyen who oversees my examination and post-op visits discovered I had a freckle in the back of my left eye and recommended I go see a retina specialist. I went to one and turns out it is normal and safe, nothing cancerous but they will monitor it. When examining my eyes, he complimented the procedure and said whoever performed my laser eye surgery did a very clean and thorough job and that it looks good. To hear a third party doctor who has no affiliation with IQLV say that affirm my belief of a successful procedure. This is one of the best decisions I've made in my life tbh. After about 20 years of wearing glasses every single day, I am really enjoying the freedom of not being reliant on any vision correcting accessories. Plus I get to rock cool designer sunglasses! I do experience phantom glasses adjustment where I'll try to push my glasses closer to my eyes in some random circumstances but then remember I don't wear them anymore lol. Just got my SMILE procedure done yesterday at City of Industry. I went to the Westminster office for the pre-op exam and Kelly was very helpful and informative/thorough about the procedure and my eye care. Everything was explained on what to expect and the aftercare. I got the procedure done with Dr. Liu and she also was very reassuring and informative answering all questions I had, talked me through the whole procedure and during which was very quick and painless only mild pressure. I was definitely a bit nervous but it does help to relax as much as possible, they gave me a stress ball to keep and music options! I was immediately able to somewhat see aside from the blurriness. I had SMILE Lasik done at IQ Laser. I'm super happy with the results! Prior to correction I had -1.25 nearsightedness and 2 diopters of astigmatism. After SMILE I have 20/15 vision, I couldn't be happier! Excellent customer service with the best possible staff!!! I was going to wait until I could give their City of Industry location my 450th review (was planning on making it my 500th, but that'd be wayyyyyyyyy too long more than likely lol), and then write up a review for this one too, but they've blown me away with such friendly attitude every time, and great service. It wouldn't be fair for me to wait that long. I had my consultation and surgery at City of Industry by Dr. Lin, but both of my 1 day and 1ish week follow up have been here, so it's only right :). The staff split their schedule between this location and their City of Industry location. I'm not sure if Dr. Lin performs surgery here too or not, but 2 of my follow ups, plus immediate hours after post-op (at City of Industry) have been with Dr. Nguyen. Being able to come here for my follow ups has been a huge help. It's much closer to LAX (for out of town-ers like myself), and with the crazy traffic LA gets everyday, not having to drive to City of Industry has saved me a lot of time and gas (plus aggravation :D) lol. They do everything super efficient. I've always shown up at least 15-30mins earlier than my actual appointment every time. Not once did I have to wait longer than 10mins to be seen. It's been just 9 days since I had my surgeries (SMILE on one eye, and ICL on the other), but I can already see better than when I had my contacts or glasses. Still some halos and glares from lights at night on my ICL eye, but that's completely normal and expected. I wish I was wolverine that can heal immediately, but 9 days to be 90-95% already? I'll take it! Happily and gratefully! I'll save all the details of the actual surgeries/consultation for the other location. Bottom line, if you're blind as a bat with some serious prescription, been told lasik is not an option for you anymore (I was told that by 2 different places in Texas), look no further and just come to IQ Laser Vision! The second best decision I have made, only after my decision of choosing my other half ;). **I DID NOT GET LASIK HERE** REVIEW is for the service I received during my consult. The staff was extremely polite, kind and thorough during the examination process. The consultation is FREE too. They are very cautious and have many COVID protocols in place. The office is bit outdated but just know this is a 'drop-in' center for consultation. The actual LASIK center is in LA and I don't know what the Surgery location space looks like. Consult: At the end of the consult you end up speaking with the office manager who provides recommendations on what kind of LASIK you should do. I didn't realize at the time, but it's pretty important to speak with the eye surgeon. I found it to be odd because the other 4 LASIK centers I visited after this establishment had a surgeon who would go over their recommendations. This was the only location where you didn't speak with the actual surgeon. This was the biggest drawback for me. One of the best decisions of my life! I recently went through the SMILE procedure for my myopia and It has been one of the shortest and most pain-free procedures I have ever gone through. Everything from the appointment to consultation and procedure itself was very hassle free quick and efficient. I did the procedure on Monday and already by Tuesday I was seeing better than 20-20 and was able to resume my normal activities like going to the gym, working (looking at the screen) etc. I was a good candidate for both lasik and SMILE, and I'm glad I chose SMILE since it has been great in all aspects. It has been almost two years since my SMILE procedure. The Westminster location was where I went for my first consultation. I highly recommend IQ Laser Vision. This review has been a long time coming because it has' been over a year and a half since my SMILE procedure and I'm loving the results. Christine, the consultant at the westminster location, is very knowledgeable, always reachable when I have questions, and very professional. Seeing 20/20 in 2020! I got the SMILE eye surgery, and I am so happy with the results! SMILE is a less invasive surgery and has a fast recovery time compared to Lasik! I actually didn't even know about the SMILE eye procedure until I had my consultation with IQ Laser back in November. I originally came into the appointment with the intentions to possibly do Lasik since I was tired of wearing Ortho-K. Luckily, my counselor Christine, informed me about the SMILE eye procedure and said I was the perfect candidate to do it since I was on Ortho-K! I was so happy to hear that I qualified to do the procedure because me being in my early 20s, I have always thought I had to wait to do laser eye surgery when I was more in my mid-20s or even older since my eye prescription wouldn't change. Things to expect when choosing the SMILE eye surgery: -Be patient! Choosing this procedure, I had to wear glasses for a few months until my prescription was stable but it was definitely worth the wait! -A painless and 15 minutes max surgery! Trust me, this surgery was super quick and didn't even hurt one bit! You probably feel slight pressure during the procedure but other than that you don't feel any pain at all. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get vision correction. I have been wearing glasses for almost 20 years, preventing me from doing many things. My consulting process took a bit longer due to my eyes' condition. Thankfully, Dr. Nguyen found the retinal holes when she tested them before the procedure. Hofmeister is one of best eye surgeon you can find. After extensive research on Dr. Hofmeister, after everything, today I would like to say, "Thank you Dr. Elizabeth M. Hofmeister for being my eye surgeon." ---------------------------- Guide for those consider doing Lasik at IQ Laser Vision at Westminster location: Before the surgery, make sure to have first, second, and third eye exams and opinions before seriously consider the procedures. Then, you should pay special attention to what Christine, the consultant at Westminster location, has to said. DO NOT FORCE YOURSELF if you do not feel ready. Make sure to do extensive research on the procedure and surgeon (extremely important). On surgery day, get a good night sleep, arrive early to be familiar with the surrounding and have enough time to calm your nervous. The doctor will double check your eye one last time. The surgeon will have the finally talk with you before the surgery. They will walk with you very steps in the procedure. After the surgery, REST and patient. I will not say it is a painless recovery process. It will be a long and uncomfortable process. At least in my case, even with SMILE procedure, my eyes were dried for months (even now). The Road to Lasik: I initially went into IQ Laser Vision back in 2018 with the intentions of getting Lasik done, however I had to postpone. I worked with Becky back in 2018, fast forward to 11/2019, I texted her again. She was able to put me in the same day for an updated consult. Ready to get the procedure done, but with it being the holidays my schedule was hectic with work/family, it was just a huge mess all around. There was a lot of going back and forth to make it work but Becky worked her magic to work the pre opt, procedure, and post opt around my schedule. She was working with me so much I felt like a nuisance, but I am so grateful she was able to help me not take off so much time off of work. Day of Lasik: All the tests were performed again to make sure everything was good to go, watched a couple of what to expect videos and recovery process. Finally getting the procedure done, I was very nervous, but Dr. Lin kept talking and telling me his steps and what to expect, which was greatly appreciated b/c I was able to prepare myself for it. What made it better was one of the techs would give me a comforting squeeze on the arm during some parts of the procedure and it made a world of a difference, I automatically calmed when she did so. Post opt: Easy peasy stuff! Went in, got my eyes checked and was told I'm already at 20/15 one week later! Guys, best decision I ever made it really is life changing!! Plus side, going with IQ Laser Vision I was able to get out of doing PRK since Dr. Lin specializes on the micro-laser. read more
