We were on a road trip and saw the sign for Jackie Ray's. We love to support small businesses, so decided to give it a try. My phone was dead so I couldn't check reviews etc. We pulled up to a cool historic building in a bedroom community of Central Ohio. This is a gem! Great food, and great people! The ambiance of the old brick building was great! The owner stopped by to see how our meal was and told us some history of the building. I had the meatloaf that had bbq sauce on it, just the way I like it. It came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The meal was very good. My wife had the burger and fries and said the burger was very good and the bun was nicely toasted. We will definitely be back to try the other dinners and the desert. read more

The ambience is dated and old fashioned, which kinda matches its typical customer. Let me tell you we came in to eat on a Sunday afternoon, it was packed because of all the basketball games happening. Abby our server was wonderful she didn't skip a beat, made sure the drinks were refilled and our food was to our likening. The owner was also out, bussing tables, getting drinks and placing orders as again they were slammed. Food was cooked to perfection and so amazing, everything from the pizza, to fish to dessert. Honestly I really wanted to like this place. My husband and I try to eat local but this was just overall disappointing. If I wanted to spend $70 bucks for 2 adults and 2 children whose meals were $5 each, I would have gone to Grove City or Chillicothe. It took over an hour and a half to get our meals. This restaurant has completely went down hill. The time before last I was there the owner was doing shots and wasted behind the bar, drunk and being super loud. The last time, today, I ordered Chicken parm and the chicken was a half of a chicken breast. I should have taken a picture. The waitress was inattentive - took almost a half hour to take our order. When I asked about the portion size the waitress said yeah, that is not normal, I'll just give you a discount. I just said forget it I haven't touched it please take it off my bill. Never going back. I would give it zero stars but not an option. They weren't busy and the service was slow. I paid with my debit card, didn't put the tip on my card but paid the tip with cash. I always keep my receipts until the charge clears my bank account; I've had problems in the past. My charge just cleared the bank and they decided to add an extra tip. I visited Jackie Ray's for the second time this past week, and it was pretty good. My friend lives in South Bloomfield, and there aren't many decent restaurants in the immediate area, so this has become our default when at his place. Jackie Rays is easy to find and has lots of parking. The inside is cozy, if not a bit dark and claustrophobic. They also have a patio area out back that's is decent too. As for the food, I had an Italian sub the last time, and it was well executed with the right amount of meats and toppings, and toasty from the oven. This time I had the pulled pork mac-n-cheese. This is kind of a stress test for a restaurant, because most places like this resort to microwaving everything. Not the case here. The mac was actually penne, the sauce was pretty good and probably made to order in the pan, and the pork was hot and moist without tasting old or reheated. The bar is great, with a beer selection to match, and our waitress was a sweetheart. Everyone in the place, employees and customers, were very friendly. A nice local joint. read more

Worst restaurant I have ever been too. Worst customer service. The manager lady is the rudest person I have ever met and thinks she can touch customers for no reason. Food tasted horrible and was very overpriced. I Got chicken Mac and cheese and it came out with no chicken. I waited 30 extra mins for chicken and my Mac and cheese was cold by the time I got it. Chicken was extremely dry and food was super bland. The manger yelled at me because my server asked if I liked it because I hadn't ate any and I told her not really. So the manager stormed out yelling at me saying she isn't taking it off the bill even tho I never asked. Food is terrible and management is horrible. Save your money! When we arrived in the restaurant there were only two other couples there. I ordered a drink and when the waitress brought my drink; she did not take our orders. So we sat there while she waited on a table of 4 who came in after us. I figured someone would come and take our order, but no one came. Then when I saw the table of 4 get their food before us that was the last straw! I told my husband, "let's go." I think they are understaffed and they are very slow. We will not be going back. My husband paid for my drink regardless of her telling us there was no charge. It's sad you cannot get good service anyplace anymore. read more

First time in & not the last. The atmosphere gives such a warm and open feeling from the spacious bar to high and low tables. Wide variety of entertainment with the multiple tvs behind the bar. Their menu was overloaded with so many options on different styles of food and assortment of beverages. Prices may seem high to some but for the quality in the service, it's well worth it! Im just visiting, came in at 9pm this establishment is very clean, great atmosphere, and staff. The server Misty is fantastic, the manager was great greeted us and came to talk to us. I'd been wanting to try this place for quite a while, and I really wanted to love it. The restaurant decor and atmosphere are great, and the food was decent, so one star each for those, but minus three for the BLATANT disregard for the mask mandate. None of the employees wore masks, and the full bar had no social distancing. Our waitress told us we could take our masks off as she walked us to our booth, which made it clear that the business was thumbing its nose at coronavirus prevention measures. I really love this place in general, but since Logan left, and an older woman is working the bar, I've not been impressed. Tonight I ordered the eggplant from the appetizer menu, as I am not a big eater. I even mentioned that I wanted it as the appetizer, and for it to come out with my husband's meal. She brought me the meal and not the appetizer. It was delicious for sure, just the rest will go to waste, besides spending money on something that I didn't order! New ownership: I believe they are destroying what was a great restaurant. I have been there 4 times since the new owners. They are loud and obnoxious. They have destroyed a great menu! They are poorly under staffed. The wait time from being seated to taking your order is about 30 minutes. The food is now over priced for the quality has changed. Example my friend ordered a grilled salmon salad. It looked like bagged salad. Not high end quality. She said the salmon was good and was charged nearly $20.00 There you go! 3 of the 4 times I have been there the not funny at all owner brought a dish stating " and you ordered liver and onions " No one laughed. They don't offer liver and onions on the menu. They are pretending now that they expect you to make reservations. Ashville is a little tiny red neck village and we don't need reservations to have dinner. We vowed never to return. The online menu has not been updated. We went in for dinner at 8:30 pm on a Saturday. We sat in the bar. Ordered our beers decided what we wanted to eat. At 9:00 we left 7.00 for the two 12 oz glasses of draft bud light. Food and drink is overpriced. If you are in their click they are all buddy buddy with you if no they could care less after leaving. Looks like pizza was being pushed but, do we really need another pizza place? Geared more toward an after work stopping place. Having said that, the chicken fried steak which was offered was served with red potatoes. That was different. The sauce over the meat probably wouldn't had paired well over mashed potatoes. I was extremely disappointed this evening, Friday, 10-6-2017, when I visited Jackie Ray's Restaurant in Ashville! I was the first customer in the door at 4 p.m. The waitress asked something like - "What can I help you with?", so I replied "Supper". Don't servers usually ask something like "How many? May I seat you now?", etc. Got menu, asked her about any specials. Decided on the 12 oz. Prime Rib, Smashed Potatoes, Green Beans, and later the cheesecake dessert. The scoop of potatoes were barely warm - no seasoning. The green beans - just out of a can - no seasonings - barely warm. The two small rolls were hot right from the oven. But served with Margarine!!! Not Butter?? in a classy restaurant like this? The prime rib was a small slab, med. rare, with an attached big chunk of burned, gristly, fatty which must have been the end piece of the meat! Maybe I had 7 oz. edible meat & brought 5 oz. of (unedible to me) fat/gristle/whatever home for the cat. Waitress did replace the cold potatoes with warmer ones. Cheesecake was good, maybe Gordon's Food Service, and still slightly frozen. The cost for dinner was @$32.00. Way to expensive & overpriced for what I was served!! Definitely not the quality meal as I've experienced in the past - the food & service was always impeccable..... read more
