Came here because we love Jack Stacks BBQ and this one was literally right next to the hotel we were staying at. I was a little shakey at first because this particular one has only been open for a couple of months. I soon found out that I did not have anything to worry about. I can honestly say that this my favorite outlet of the 5 that I have visited. The food is just as good or maybe a little better, it is newer and more modern, service is even better and all the staff is happy, energetic, hard working and even smiling all the time. We had a table right outside the kitchen and it looked more like a bunch of friends that were getting together for a cookout then a restaurant kitchen. Our waiter was at our table with our menu and took our drink orders in about 30 seconds. He was back with our drinks in about 3 or 4 minutes and asked if we were ready to order. Since we had been to other outlets already we knew what we wanted to try and he took our order quickly. Our order arrived in only about 5 minutes. We shared the Roundup family platter. It had 4 pork spare ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork and smoked turkey on it. It also came with 3 sides dishes that included hickory pit beans, cheesy corn bake and creamy coleslaw. We also had a loaded baked potato side. Of the meats, the ribs and the turkey were the standouts, but the pulled pork and brisket were very good too. All 4 of the sides we ordered were outstanding. My wife and I liked the coleslaw so much that we took a quart of it to go home with us. Finally, the price. Our bill with drinks was $65. This is a little high for us, but considering that we had enough leftovers for 2 more meals for both of us, it was very reasonable. We cannot wait to come back again. read more

Been a bit since we have bin to Jack Stack. Was truly a work of art. The shrimp that my wife had were so delicious. The sausage and brisket was spot on. The drinks, well of course were amazing. The staff did amazing. Our waitress apologized for not checking on us and we were good. We had an amazing meal and said no worries Bc the food was so good and you could tell she was working hard and we didn't need anything. We will be back this spring for the patio for sure!! read more

We has the family style combo burnt ends for 2. Was really tasty included both beef and pork with some very choice sides that were good. We had beans, French fries and corn at recommendation Of our server. I would probably not pick those sides again and would go with beans and slaw instead. But everything was good. Atmosphere is nice. We sat at the bar on the end where it was a bit dark and cozy after a long work day. Service was good and we enjoyed our meal. I would go back. read more

Wanna impress your special someone, looking for intimate setting, nice views and great food and music ? We'll step on down to Jack stacks bbq! This place... man oh man from walking in to leaving, the customers were very warm and upbeat. They were also on it when it came to customer service! Our server Lexi, was spot on as well and gave me a run down on the best options along with the best drinks other venues to check out while in town and she was funny, energetic and made sure we were catered to. I came here with the intentions to try as much as possible. (You'll see my bill later lol) but oh .... My... god..... I'm going to try not to make this long but I had the jacks best, the kc lemonade and the sangria, followed by a carrot cake and chocolate brownie. Everything was hot to the touch and delicious! The meat from the ribs was well seasoned that I could get the Smokey flavor from the bone! Yes! Along with the burnt tips... mannn you don't need bbq sauce here folks if you do, your just adding more fuel to the already well cooked and great tasting food! They really do the damn thing here! Make sure you try all the bbq sauces. Seeing I'm not a local I took the bbq sauce for the nostalgia! I had to take some back to California with me cause I couldn't have enough! I could keep talking about this place but it'll be an essay lol. I still didn't touch the ambience along with scenery! I'll just post photos and video lol I don't give out 5s but they deserved it! read more

Jack Stack was recommended to me by a guy I sat next to on my flight in. I Got it delivered via door dash. If this is real, Kansas BBQ, I'll stick to Dallas or Carolina barbecue any day. I got the three meat sampler with their beans. The three meats I got were turkey, burnt, ends and sausage. The sausage had a strange aftertaste. The beef burnt ends were 75% fat 25% meat which is fine if you're ordering pork belly not burnt ends. The turkey was nothing more than processed lunchmeat at least that's what it looked and tasted like. The beans were incredibly sweet as in way too sweet. This is a one and done for me. read more

Wow, wow, wow! First of all, they quickly accommodated a last-minute group of 15 of us. Second, when we weren't able to get us into the restaurant right away because we came earlier than reserved (our fault, not theirs) the bar quickly took over where we received TREMENDOUS service! The burnt ends and RIBS + Bloody Mary were all so so so delicious. Highly recommend!! read more

I usually go to the freight house location when I'm here. But this location was closer to my hotel. However, the food and service were just as good. Highly recommended as usual read more

Great food and service. The baby back ribs were tender and almost fall off the bone. The mixed salad was very tasty and the bacon was a nice touch. While I waited I had a drink at the bar and the bartender was friendly and made a quality cocktail. read more

Best time to go is during the week at Happy Hour! No waiting. Would like to see a few more menu options on their HH menu but I had plenty to eat with the pork ribs (3) very meaty and an order of their onion rings. Husband ordered off of the regular menu and had the bbq brisket sandwich with fries and we split an order of their beans which never disappoint! Sat in bar area to get the HH prices where it is airy with lots of light. The service was excellent too. read more

As a l w a y s, this jack stack is amazing. I need to shout out the customer service- this wsit staff knew exactly when we wanted to order, apps & main course, fill our drinks and all that- they were super friendly & on the ball. Great bbq and great service would eat here again. Trying to meet minimum character requirements

My 1st visit here and I could not have been more satisfied. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The service provided by Kylie and Trevour was exceptional as was the food. We started with a Spinach Salad, which was fresh and tasty. Next we shared the Jack's Best Family Style Dinner. The Ribs were tender and delicious, as were the Burnt Ends and the Brisket. The sides were really a treat, especially the Baked Beans. Dessert was amazing, Mom's Carrot Cake served warm was the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner experience. Will definitely have to make a return visit soon. read more

Ordered to go, they were really quick with the order. The food was pretty good, I wish the brisket wasn't sliced so thinly. The ribs had great flavor and fell off the bone. This place was a bit pricier than the other bbq spots I went to when I was visiting. I would advise just getting the Round up family style dinner then adding on whatever meat selections. When I went to pick up my order this place was really busy. read more

We stay at the Hyatt next door when we come to KC, and we were so excited when we saw that our very favorite KC restaurant was being built next door! Unlike the other Jack Stack locations in the KC metro area, this one doesn't have decor that is especially noteworthy (and really, you gotta admit the Freight House location is spectacular!). But the food is just as wonderful, and the service is outstanding, as it is at every Jack Stack. They don't do room service to the hotel, so that was a bit disappointing. But it's just a brief walk from the lobby to Jack Stack, so it's not a big distraction. And while we like actually going to the restaurant and being waited on, it was also nice to be able to bring our Jack Stack favorites to our room and kick back and totally relax. read more

Up until the past couple of months, I always ordered the pork spare ribs. They were juicy, tender and delicious. But recently Jack Stack removed them from the menu as a separate entre, and now you can only get them by ordering a pick-two or pick-three menu option. That was fine, except that they arrived dry and burnt. Tried again a couple of weeks later, but the same thing. So I decided to try the pork burnt ends. They were great - juicy and tender (this was in November, 2024). But last night (1/12/25), the park burnt ends were dry and burnt - I couldn't even get my fork through them. The waitress was kind enough to remove them from my ticket, but boy am I wary about ordering either the pork spare ribs or pork burnt ends now. Something has changed in the kitchen. Very disappointing. read more

A friend came into town and wanted barbecue so of course I needed to take her Jack Stack! As always the service was exceptional. Our server was very sweet and seemed to be having a great time while at work, which is rare. She gave us some menu suggestions and told us what her favorite things were. We loved everything we ordered, especially the Jalapeño Cornbread. On our way out we were able to purchase some sauce for the road which made my pal from Denver very happy. I am thrilled that Jack Stack opened in this location. It is conveniently located near 435 and 87th Street, and the space is large and modern. I can't wait to have another excuse to go back for more. read more

Took customers here for a business lunch. Great bbq and service! Would definitely come back.

First time in KC. Rental car agent recommended this place and it did not disappoint. If you hungry get the two or three meat plate but make sure you leave room for dessert. I had brisket and baby back ribs, delicious! If you're not a big eater, get a sandwich and dessert. Make sure the dessert is their carrot cake, it is amazing! read more

Its been a very long time since I have eaten at Jack Stack and this new location enticed me to visit again. The decor is appeasing and inviting. We put our name in and was given a 30 min estimated wait time for this early sunday evening. It was only about 10 minutes. Our server Romaine greeted us after a short wait. He made some suggestions of a platter as we were trying to narrow down our choices. We started with the fried mushrooms (w/ horseradish sauce). They were hot and crispy with a fresh mushroom taste, some of the best ones I have had. Our Pitmaster platter consisted of pork and beef burnt ends, sausage, ribs & the cajun wings. My favorites were the wings(spicy, flavorful & tender), then the sausage(dense and meaty) and ribs(tender and meaty). The pork burnt ends were better than the beef ones. These style of burnt ends are a little to done for my liking. We had to ask for bbq sauce which made a few of the items a little more tangy. Our sides of sweet coleslaw, and undesirable potato casserole didn't even compare to the sweet, tangy beans. These beans rank in my top. The sweet tea kept a flowing and service was great. Our meal was good but doesn't rank in my top :(. read more

Regardless of what all the "bbq snobs" say, Jack Stack is always a solid choice for BBQ IMO. We are at the new location in Lenexa and it did not disappoint. The new spot is super nice and we had our food out on a Sunday in under 10 minutes from ordering. And I think they have the touch down now with the recipes. The food was spot on. read more

It's five days later and I still can't believe I wasted my money on this place. Granted, my reservation assured we were seated quickly, but by a rather unfriendly hostess. That's fine. However, it took at least ten minutes before anyone even came to the table to take our drink order - waters, beer, and a glass of wine. Waters first, then another six minutes before the actual drinks appeared. Warning: the onion rings are horrible. We ordered three - they are breaded and fat, very soft with no crunch or taste. I almost laughed when our server asked if they weren't the most delicious onion rings we had ever had. That should have been a precursor... I ordered the burnt ends. Did I order for my aged granny? Those things lacked taste, they had absolutely no life. They tasted like soggy meat chunks, the only saving grace was the 'spicy' barbecue sauce, brought to me by not my server, but the person who actually delivered our food. However, my french fries were hot, so I used them to warm my burnt ends, which were only room temperature. My cole slaw (why is this not called 'cold slaw'? This bothers me when I have spare time to ponder aimlessly) was halfway tasty though, also served at room temperature. My companion did not fare any better, as he ordered the very lackluster burnt ends as well, with sausage as a second meat. and you can't really say a 'second meat', as he only received three sausage slices. We did not see our server again, until he brought our ticket. Like an idiot, I asked for a take out box, even though I knew in my heart I would not be eating the left overs. Door greeting: fair Service: fair Noise level: prepare to compete with your neighbors Food: Do NOT order the onion rings, unless you enjoy eating those frozen onion rings you heat up in your oven. As well, I've had better burnt ends at this dubious gas station I came across while driving cross country. But that's another story... hint - it's located on the outskirts of Kansas City. Do not let the man wearing the ratty tee shirt that proclaims, "I've seen it all", worry you - he's actually quite nice. Overall: Not again. I live in some luxury apartments not too far from the restaurant. So easy to just pop in and grab a drink and appetizer, however, I may have to resort to the brutal reality of cooking for myself, or wandering to a competing pub down the street. read more

Decent bbq and comfortable atmosphere. Beans a d fries very tasty as were the bbq sauces. Meat could be better

Just what I was looking for when I was looking for Kansas City BBQ! I expected to see a smoker outside and stuff however was shocked to see a fancy looking restaurant. Great looking indoor dining area and outdoors. All the meat was really good except the brisket and pulled pork was a little dry for my liking. The chicken, beef burnt ends, and ribs were amazing though. Also the cheese corn.... Wow I have never had that before and now I'm glad I have. This place my just be the best BBQ I've ever had! read more

Great place, the ribs and wings were awesome! Service was a tad slow but the venue is nice and food was good. Definitely will go again.

The service and food is amazing but they have a salad on there menu that is new and amazing. The Spinach Salad is the perfect salad for the spring and summer Spinach Mix, Strawberries, Maple Spiced Pecans, Bacon, Feta Cheese, Red onion and tossed in a Sweet Vinaigrette. This is a must if you are looking for a light lunch. Don't forget to say High to Angela at the bar. read more

Out of all the jack stacks in the Kansas City area, this one is the bottom of them all. Which sucks because it's the closest to our house. They're just not up to the same standards as all the other Jack stacks. This particular location can't seem to figure out how to cook salmon properly. Which is crazy to me because it's just not that difficult and shouldn't be raw in the center every single time we order it there. We actually stopped going to this location because of that. My oldest daughter always order salmon when we go there and every single time we have ever ordered it at this one which is probably close to 6 to 8 times it has been under cooked completely even though we order it med/well. we have tried to have them cook a new one a few times and it still comes out terrible they overcook it at that point. We never have an issue at the plaza location the Overland Park location or the Martin city location. It's only this location that can't seem to cook a salmon. I always get the chipotle chicken club and have been getting it for years. At the Lenexa location. It is also very hit or miss. Sometimes it comes out dry as hell and other times it's decent. It's never as juicy or perfect as Martin City or Overland Park location. We tried giving them chance after chance but finally said screw it because we got tired of mediocre food for the prices when we could drive 10-15 min further away for good food the way it's suppose to be done. I do give it 3 stars based on the fact, there is a server there that is phenomenal. It sucks that we don't go here anymore because of their food because the server is great. Very personable always remembers us, etc.. read more

The food was very tasty. The server was wonderful. Unfortunately, our whole experience was marred by the front of house staff. We arrived at approximately 6pm and were told that there was a 30 minute wait. No problem. We were happy when we got seated approximately 10 minutes later and didn't have to wait the full 30 minutes. On our way to the table, the hostess informed us that we had to be out of the table by 7pm as they needed it for a reservation. The whole rest of the experience was stressful because we were worried that we were going to get kicked out. The front of house staff walked around consistently evaluating their table situation, and while I can't know for sure, in my head at least it seemed as the 7pm hour approached, they were eyeing our table to see if we were going to be done. We are a family of 4 with two kids under 7. We did our best, and tried hard to get our kids to eat in a timely fashion. We walked out at 7:03. I understand reservations and that we didn't have one and that they were trying to help. I would have rather waited the thirty minutes and not felt rushed and that I was being watched like a hawk to vacate our table. read more
