We had great service. We ordered way too much food so it seemed like as soon as we started eating we were asking to pack up the leftovers. Our server was really helpful with that. The food was great. We had kind of a mixed plate of food that we shared so there were a lot of different meats and sides. The chicken wings were probably my least favorite, but still not bad. They were just maybe a little over charred for my personal taste. The cheesy corn used to be so good and it's lost its flare. Not sure if it's me or the recipe has changed, etc. It's very lovely inside. The parking lot is kind of hectic; it has a weird bottleneck and too much cross traffic in places, which isn't necessarily their fault since I know this building was built before this restaurant took over this location. read more

Lenexa is a very nice location with outdoor seating that includes umbrellas for shade. If you're into watching football, while not technically a sports bar, there are plenty of TV's. The server said this location does not typically get busy during Chiefs games, which is nice to know. I was impressed with the loaded baked potato, which is saying something as a potato is not normally impressive. They do offer dry and wet barbecue options and Jack Stack is a very popular KC barbecue chain. read more

Another excellent experience. We really enjoy the "Qfor2" offering. Perfect portion and always delicious.

I come down to Kansas and visit some family and our tradition is to always go to GATES, which I LOVE but on the way out we were looking for something different and got this spot recommended to us. Immediately upon walking in, I could tell we were in for some good Kansas BBQ. The ambiance is a little more upscale reminds me of like a Cheesecake Factory vibe. Our server was very attentive and nice. We ordered the Fire-Kissed Wings with the charred jalapeño which was immaculately delicious. The meat was tender, smokey and fell off the bone; the Smoked Jalapeño Cornbread it was moist, tender and packed with flavor. We each ordered the Kansas City Combo and sampled each others different meats. I got the Beef Brisket, Beef Burnt Ends and the Pork Spare Ribs. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the beef burnt ends, they were a bit tough. Also the brisket was aight a lil dry and didn't meet my expectations. These were the two things I was looking forward to. The pork ribs were delicious. My favorite tho was the PORK BURNT ENDS. Those were juicy, tender and fell right apart. Also sampled the sausage which was pretty good and some of the bone-in chicken which had the same spices and flavor as the wings. 8/10 recommend this place. I will be back' read more

Definitely had to see what all the hype was about. I'm not a huge fan of restaurant bbq because I love the fresh grill taste and I usually don't get that from restaurants. Jack Stack was packed and I'm so glad I've gotten better at making reservations, because we were sat right when it was booked for and the server got our drink order quickly after. We ordered the fresh made lemonade and you can definitely tell those lemons were squeezed in house. These may be the BEST fried mushrooms I've ever had!!! WOW. I love how they are fried whole and dipped in breadcrumbs for an extra crunch. I substituted the horseradish sauce for ranch and it tasted house made, definitely a great touch! I was thoroughly impressed and I will have to come back because everything was amazing. The burnt ends were very meaty and moist, pulls apart with a fork. The brisket was extremely tender and pulled apart with my fork too! The sides were impeccable and complimented my meal so well. The broccoli was steaming hot and topped with the garlic buttery goodness, the baked beans have chopped beef, pork, & sausage burnt ends and seasoned to perfection. I wish I left room for dessert because I heard their carrot cake is a favorite from multiple people. I will DEFINITELY be back and probably bring everyone I know who comes to visit so they can have this same great impression for BBQ from Kansas City. read more

I was hosting a party last Sunday and ordered brisket, turkey and beans from Jack Stacks in Lenexa. I had a couple of special requests and they did everything I wanted. Both meats were outstanding and sauced, hot and ready to eat. Beans, of course, were amazing as always. I would recommend using Jack Stacks in Lenexa for your next catering event. I was really pleased!!! read more

I was extremely impressed with my opening day lunch experience, from the delicious BBQ to the beautiful interior (with nice bar and patio areas) to the professional, efficient and fast five minute service. The two meat lunch ($15) comes standard with fries (not my fave), so I was happy to find that I could easily substitute two other "small" sides for the same price - nice! The meat and side portions were nicely-sized and delicious. especially the brisket and the baked beans. The dining area was well-divided, nicely done and newly remodeled, with contemporary music, a spacious bar area (with happy hour 3-5 PM M-F), a meeting room and a spacious patio with a fireplace and TVs. Overall, excellent! read more

We are from NY and were visiting friends in Stillwell. Every time we are here we want barbecue. This place is awesome, especially for tourists. They have a kinda " sampler" platter, so you can try a variety of different meats that you may not have ordinarily ordered. We ordered two different platters and you also get three sides. I'm only going to say this once, cheesy corn!! Wow, the best stuff ever. And I am not sure what they do to their baked beans but they are the best I have ever eaten! Take some home for lunch and save room for dessert! read more

Jack Stack Barbecue - Lenexa - Barbeque Near Me - Lenexa, Kansas

The best ambience of any of the bbq joints, this historic restaurant is a generational staple of families in the area. It treads a lot more on memories than menu. Sides are poorly made or just tired. The beans were swimming in grease. Burnt ends? Bland and dry. Ribs were overcooked. Service is very arms length. If they know you? Cool. They don't? It rolls a lot more indifferent. Reputation should be based on what you do in the now. Jack stacks up as a rearview mirror on barbecue in a KC where Q39 meets them on the dining experience with better que, and the more fast casual cue joints like Joe's just wipe the floor with them on food. Laurels are not a good thing to smoke, or rest upon. read more

Lunch order delivered by DoorDash and it arrived warm. Pork burnt ends were very tender with good flavor and perfect char. The beans and cheezy corn are always great. No surprises when Jack Stack is ordered for lunch. Always a good experience. read more

I tried Jack Stack for dinner tonight. Before even ordering food I could tell this place was popular due to the wait at the door. I decided to give the Brisket burnt ends and pork ribs a go. The burnt ends were pretty solid. A tad bit fatty, but even with this I thought they ranked well. The pork ribs were about the same level. I thought they were cooked very well. They didn't blow me out of the water, but they were good. I think the star of the dish was the sides. The baked beans and scalped potatoes were EXCELLENT. Would make a return just for those potatoes. Waitress was nice and service was on point. I did like the ambiance of the restaurant. Overall I enjoyed my dinner and will return in the future. It's a 4/5 stars for me read more

I can't speak to the restaurant because we took this one to go. But the bag and how the food was packaged leads me to believe the inside of the restaurant would be nice. We ordered 7 meals. All the food was good. Get the burnt ends. Famous and fabulous. I will speak specific to a couple sides though. The dirty rice was spicy and flavorful. I would eat a quart by itself. Also the gumbo is yum. It was a little cool by the time we got home, but a zapper in the microwave and OOOH Yeah. This will be in the rotation for the next trip to this region. read more

Can't say enough good things about JS. This place always hits the mark. We were impressed with the Lenexa locations new streamlined carry out process today. Our lunch was served quickly curbside with a smile today. The food is spectacular as always. L loved his sandwich w ham & brisket. The fries are hot/crispy & fresh, some of the best around. I had my go-to wings. If you haven't tried them yet, you're missing out. KC is so lucky to have such phenomenal bbq. When I've traveled outside the area and tried what other cities consider their "best ever bbq" it's laughable compared to KC bbq. I would have taken pics for you but it smelled so good we couldn't wait, sorry. read more

Food was good, the burnt ends were on the fatty side. Other than that we had a large party and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The service was not so great, the server was very kind and helpful but it looked like he was doing 4 large parties at once. read more

Coming from the south I was not expecting a BBQ joint that was kind of upscale. The place was packed and we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. We waited longer for our server to come to the table(Ginger) than we did to be seated. By the time she got to us we were ready to order except for some questions we had but still ordered while she was there. She said she had an assistant but we never saw him. I ordered the 3 meat plate with pulled pork, beef burnt ends and lamb ribs($5 upcharge). The burnt ends were amazing, seasoned right and juicy. Pulled pork had good flavor but was cold when it arrived. I wondered about the lamb ribs as soon as I saw them posted on yelp. I was disappointed, lamb ribs are small so to much seasoning will over power them. There was Way to much rib on them. The server came regularly, she told us they had a spicy sauce which we asked for 3 times but never actually got. She tried to make up for it with a free dessert, had to pass due to diabetes. I typically look for smoke when I go to a bbq place, there was none but the smell of smoke was in the air so maybe they stop smoking at a certain time. They were to busy to always be like this so I would try them again if suggested but probably would not go on my own. read more

Food was delicious and the service was friendly and prompt. I requested my food be prepared for travel which they quickly executed.

Always great food. Went around the holidays and the service was excellent even when they got busy. Recommend getting a reservation or going early...meaning 5pm. Ambiance is nice, you don't even think you are in a bbq restaurant. They are flexible with sides if you ask. I recommend the platter and you can take some home. Onion rings are great, but a little on the high end of price. I asked for normal and raw horseradish. For the main courses they can give you a variety of bbq sauces. read more

The meat falls into your mouth. Come right of the rib. The drinks are amazing the Mac and cheese are amazing.

I have visited here with my Japanese Colleague from our Chicago office to try Kansas Beef & BBQ. Yes, we have enjoyed a lot in a great value with a great portion size & taste. The price is much lower than our Chicago's, and their service & portion are also much more than ours, too. We were really regretting for not having our family member with us. But maybe next time around. read more

Higher end bbq joint. Chain restaurant. If I had to guess I would say the Barbecue items aren't cooked there on site. I had the beef and pork burnt ends. Both were ok. Little on the dry side. Very small portions. I also had a short rib. The short rib was very good. Super tender! It was also on the small side. Not a Dino rib by any means. Not that they advertise it as one. All three bbq sauces were good. I liked the Cayenne pepper sauce over the black pepper barbecue sauce. The original was the better of the three. Left there hungry and broke. 100 dollar meal for one. read more

Great BBQ.... Even if I am a Carolina mustard based BBQ fan. The burnt ends were amazing. Great Kansas City style sauce... The brisket was tender with a nice pink smoke ring. The beans were great and had generous amounts of pork included... the slaw was creamy and flavorful... They have a respectable wine and beer selection too... The place is definitely not your typical hole in the wall joint. It's a really nice restaurant. This goes against my general inclination to assume that good BBQ can only be made in an old gas station... I would not steer you wrong on BBQ, this place is good. I would go back for certain. read more

Fathers Day. My son got my wife and I a Jack Stack Lenexa spread that included my favorite, Crown Prime Beef Rib, usually the most delicious cut you can get!!! I love it but not so on Fathers Day. Kansas City is full of great BBQ, and while this might not be on too many lists of top places, we really enjoyed it! Just note that if you're planning to eat a little closer to closing, their options as far as what BBQ they have left are a little slim. Service was great! We didn't want to wait long for our table so we opted to sit by the bar. The bartenders who took care of us and placed our food orders were nice and very personable. Would definitely recommend if you're ever in Lenexa! read more

I love Jack Stack. One of the more formal options for BBQ in the city, it has been cool to watch them grow and evolve over the years. This is a great space, and I recently had a great lunch here with some coworkers. Jack Stack BBQ is such a known quantity in the KC area, and I feel like sometimes they are a victim of their own success. As far as I can tell, they have the most locations of any KC BBQ spot, and seem to always put out a consistent product. When talking about BBQ with locals, people seem quick to dismiss Jack Stack as a place to bring out of towners, and I think it is because of the success and number of locations. I think the other argument is that Jack Stack has the best sides in the game, but not the best meat. They do have amazing sides, but I think their meat is also delicious. I really love the fire kissed wings. One of the few places to get smoked chicken wings around here, and they are consistently top notch. read more

This is my first visit to the Kansas City area, and boy, oh boy, this was a spectacular treat. One of the goals on this trip was to find some good Kansas City barbeque. This place was fortunately our first stop!!! The inside of the restaurant is very spacious and elegantly decorated. Very family friendly and not too loud. Very clean. All the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was plenty, and EVERY THING was delicious, smoky, and flavorful! We ordered the Smoked Jalapeno Cornbread that came with honey butter. The flavor in this was amazing and meshed very well. As the main course, we ordered the Taste of Kansas City 4. It came with smoked wings, ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. We also ordered a small order of burnt ends. All of the meat was amazingly tender. You could taste the smokey flavor throughout. I can't determine which was my favorite. The garnish of pickles and pickled onions were also good! We tried four of the different bbq sauces, and the spicy black pepper sauce was the hit with my family! The sides were also awesome! We opted for fries, baked beans, corn bake (which we never had before), and cole slaw. I'm a big fan of cole slaw and this was very fresh and very well seasoned. The corn bake and baked beans were so very good. I was glad we tried something new! Overall, the food and the service were outstanding. I highly recommend that if you would like to get a taste of the Kansas City BBQ experience! read more

Ask Kansas Citians about the best BBQ in town and you're likely to start a fight--everyone has their own opinion. But for consistently good food and excellent service in a comfortable atmosphere, Jack's Stack is my favorite. Sure, there are some excellent divey joints with great food and there are others with great food but no table service, but when you want a great dining experience, it's JS, hands down. read more

It has been years since I've been to a Jack Stack but decided to try out this newish location near us. The new space is really beautiful and unlike so many new restaurants it isn't crazy loud. We ordered mushrooms and rings which came out hot and were great. Then it went off the rails. Food was dropped off and then we didn't see a server again forever. I had to flag down a manager to get a water refill. All the food was delivered cold but who are we going to tell?? The best is one person ordered brisket but got burnt ends. When our server finally did come back the conversation was ridiculous. "We ordered brisket, these are burnt ends." "Yes. Brisket burnt ends" " but we wanted brisket" "you didn't want brisket burnt ends" "no because we didn't order burnt ends" seriously like an SNL sketch. The server did acknowledge that the service had been "chaotic" but no "let me comp your apps or bring you free dessert". In a town with tons of amazing bbq options, many much more reasonably priced, you need to be really on point! read more
