Good for a JITB.Way better than the one in Saratoga that drowns your sandwiches in random sauces.I used to go to this one all the time when I worked out in Milpitas and get breakfast anytime of the day.More often than not, they got it right.Every once in a while there'd be a surprise for me in the bag if I didnt double check my order.
[END OF REVIEW...NOW FOR A STORY,KIDS...]
I was running errands for my boss, driving a U-Haul that was in his name and had to go to our storage facility to load up the truck with stuff that he wanted.Well,I loaded up the truck single-handedly and decided that I was gonna take my lunch break while I was out running around anyways.JITB was on my way back,so I'd be doing us both a favor. Now,remember, the U-Haul is in HIS name on HIS credit card and more less HIS responsibility since he was the one noted as the driver.
I pull into this JITB,and instead of parking decide to drive thru.It was the smallest U-Haul truck there is,and there was no sign at the drive thru noting the clearance height for vehicles,so I just assumed it was all good.Well it was not.
I order my food, which at the time was probably an Ultimate Cheeseburger meal and pull forward, and then come to a screetching hault when the UHaul scraped the rooftop next to the drive thru window, raining down chunks of concrete and dust onto and into the truck.I was stuck. If I went anymore forward.I would either bring the whole place down on me or just be plain stuck. There were cars lining up behind me to the point of which there were 5 or so,so I couldnt ask them all to back out,cos that wasnt happening.I shut the truck off.Walked up to the window to be greeted by a half dozen workers who were apparently excited about what I did, smiling and pointing, some just staring at me.Paid for my food, hopped back into the UHaul and thought for only a second about what to do.
My only way out were bushes that were to the right of me,which led into another parking lot.So without hesitation,I turned the wheel all the way to the right, checked for any traffic and then plowed into them to make my escape.I floored it.
To make a long story short,I got back to work. The truck looked like it survived WWII.There was a small dent on the top of it.I just walked back into the office, handed my boss the keys-the District Manager was there visiting that day and I was sure I was fired.Luckily,it was 3:00,my time to go home so I clocked out and left.He returned the UHaul without noticing a thing. How do you not notice that the interior of the truck is dusted with white???
I waited a few months just to be safe and then mentioned it to my boss.We both got a good laugh when I told him the story and I actually kept a piece of the building that fell onto the truck up until a few years ago when it accidentally got vacuumed up.It took forever for those bushes to grow back.At least 5 years.I still get a laugh everytime I drive thru this JITB. read more
