Jack in the Box, a nearby fast-food restaurant, was the perfect spot for my grandsons when they started feeling hungry. It was conveniently located right off the freeway on our way back home to San Diego. Although the exterior of the restaurant may not appear modern, the interior felt calm and quiet. It's a small, box-shaped establishment where I several customers enjoying a peaceful breakfast or sipping their coffee while looking out at the street through the large, tinted glass windows. I had ordered breakfast jack sandwiches and coffee to go. The order arrived in no time, and the food was freshly prepared and hot. The coffee was equally good. I like the variety, burgers are good, fries are good, onion rings are good, salads are good, tacos I think are very good, and teriaki bowl is very good! Also their brakfast sandwiches and burritos are very good and served all day (and maybe into the wee hours). Never gotten sick after eating their foods, never, ever a complaint. Located inside a gas station stop. The station part has a full mini store, trinkets, snacks and drinks. The Jack in the Box is pretty clean. Restrooms are available for customers. If you fill up you get 2 free tacos . The staff was pleasant and greeted us, took our order correctly and was quick to fulfill the order - correctly. I have to say a large part of the rating here is for how the staff seemed to take pride in their work, the quality and presentation of our food. Each sandwich was wrapped nicely - the Burger patty (we had a chicken sandwich too), sauce, lettuce, tomato - everything was put together like they were getting ready to take pictures (sorry I forgot too). After my previous experience at this location I was contacted by the management of this Jack in the Box. They apologized profusely for what had happened and assured me that the situation would be addressed with the assistant manager. I don't know if that is really going to happen, and I know it sounds silly, but it meant a lot that they called and apologized. I appreciated that there wasn't really a way for them to "make it right" in this instance, as I don't live in Barstow, but them calling and apologizing was the right way to go about things. read more

I don't know who the lead was on Dec. 21,2021 around 5:40pm but y'all need to give her a raise. I've been to plenty of restaurants and when they are short staffed they always give the customers attitude especially when the order is wrong but not this one. The whole crew was so welcoming and patient since we didn't know what we were going to order. Once we got our order my sandwich was wrong but I told the lead and she fixed it right away without any hesitation or attitude. She even apologized and wished me a great day after she fixed my order. *UPDATE: Apparently the manager of the location called me to apologize and explained that the dining room closes at 11p and that if dining room is closed, no one can even sit in there. I should have trusted other reviews. My husband insisted on Jack in The Box on our drive home from Vegas. I was scared by the food poisoning posts, and not cooked foods. I over looked them and agreed. UNBELIEVABLE my crispy chicken club sandwich WASNT COOKED IN THE MIDDLE. I kid you not. This is the worst Jack in the box I've ever been to. The staff is not attentive, the service is very slow. They NEVER get the order right the first time. Be sure to check your bag before you drive away, it's most certainly incorrect. It's as if the staff is high. I ordered 3 times last night before the girl could understand, I only ordered 2 combos. I asked for hot sauce and ketchup 2 times , and she verbally confirmed, and sure enough, none in the bag! She asked me, small medium or large mocha, I said medium. Since the IHOP and Del Taco (da fuk?) weren't open at 0630, this is where I fueled up before my Spartan race. Not that a ultimate breakfast sandwich and a sausage and egg biscuit are the healthiest options, but the only options I had at that early hour. Well, early for Barstow standards. I wasn't the only one; there were six other people, regulars/locals from the looks of them that probably got their coffee fix at the IHOP but came here instead. Breakfast again, not the best, but hit the spot and with all the hiking/jogging and obstacles on the course, I probably burned off the worst of my calorie-laden meal. Coffee was the highlight and I need to tell them to just pass on the hash brown (aka deep fried sponge) patty. On my way somewhere had to stop by and get some food, I was in bit of a rush so I chose drive through. I began ordering and once I payed they told me to wait in front and they'll bring my food. Waited about 10 minutes until I felt it taking longer than usual so I went inside and still my order wasn't made. My wife and I used to love Jack in the Box. We were delighted to find an outlet in Barstow. We ordered a couple of Jumbo Jacks, some fries and jalapeno poppers. Within a few hours we were both suffering from food poisoning. The only thing we had in common was the Jumbo burgers, so figured that it must have contained some kind of bacterial containment. It took me three days to recover. I felt as if I were going to die. Food poisoning is no easy thing. At my worst point I WANTED to die. Even days afterward, I felt weak and had no appetite whatsoever. For anyone who has undergone food poisoning, you will understand. Well, that pretty much did it for any future excursions to Jumbo Jack in Barstow. Probably, we'll never visit another Jumbo Jack anywhere else on the planet. read more
