The idea of good Mexican food in Miami is a sirens song. Luring in unsuspecting hungry Latinos. But at the very end showing its true form of bland ingredients and broken wallets. Jacalito is unfortunately just another one of those sirens. "But they have happy hour!" They will say. But even the wait staff know the happy hour will give you portions so small that they make you sad. My partner and I decided to get a couple of full dinner plate burritos. They came with nothing on the side except the complimentary chips and salsa. The burritos were not good. After we got over our first couple hunger driven bites of bliss the curtain lifted and we were met with what we were actually holding in our hands. Another sad bland burrito. Maybe it didn't help that we ordered veggie burritos. But I think the combination of rice and vegetables with a little cheese and a a spec of Costco guacamole, would have done better with less. A simple bean and cheese would have sufficed. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant as an after work dinner. The space is nice and the patio is good but the food is lacking. Maybe I should come back to get smashed on cheap margs and update my review. But until then I bid Jacalito farewell.

Cute Mexicanish spot with every day happy hour specials (chipotle wing Tuesdays!!!!). The horchata was creamy and spiced well, and the tortillas and house salsa were fantastic. Outdoor seating is fun and parking is available in the street. The service was not overly fast ;) but was really nice (especially when we had to split our check for expense sheets).

I've been here a few times and I've had a great experience each time. The chips they bring out first are fresh out of the frier and the red salsa that comes with it is a bit spicy but flavorful. I asked for hotter sauce and I was given a green sauce that tasted so fresh and almost minty flavored. I've had the alambre and the botana boracha and both had tender meats and fresh peppers and accompaniments. Sitting on the patio is nice in the evening with a breeze and isn't too loud to have good conversation. Service is fast and speaking Spanish is definitely a plus here. I will definitely return.

*Takeout review*. Miami has a lot of spots for tacos but always had an issue finding them CORRECTLY made (which is with a little cilantro and sprinkle of onion.) This is my favorite spot for tacos because they are always exactly how I like them and delivery comes super fast. No complaints

Jose is amazing and we had the best experience here! We enjoyed their $1.99 taco Wednesday after a long hard working day at the Miami boat show. Our server was Emily super sweet and very accommodating. Thank you so much happy Valentine's Day I recommend steak deliciousness

Stopped in for a quick, late night dinner. The food came out at a decent time, but our order was incorrect. My friend ordered nachos with no onions, and received tacos with just meat and cilantro. He tried asking for at least some cheese to put on top considering it was an incorrect order, and they charged us $4.25 for the cheese! It would have been fine, but the server seemed as if she were mad at us for not having ordered the right thing. It was a very weird experience, as i've never been put in that situation where it feels like, "the customer is always wrong". By the way, the cheese was charged twice, so the server was trying to charge us $10 for an error she committed. When asked about this error she told us, "no, as you can see, I removed the 2nd charge of cheese, so you were only charged once" *looks at check* "i will go remove one of the charges". The tostadas i ordered and the shrimp tacos my other friend ordered were pretty good, but we will likely not be back due to our experience.

Definitely would go back for the fried shrimp tacos. The chips and dip they give you when you sit down is small but that sauce is HOT. Be sure to ask for some water BEFORE eating the chips and dip. I drank my water so fast....the only downfall was the lady never refilled my cup. By the time she finally did come back to the table I was ready to go. Besides that little hiccup the food and experience was great.

    Tacos and margaritas

Jose and his crew were a lot of fun! The food was yummy and the margaritas were the perfect end to our day 1 of miami boat show madness. I came with my team and we definitely will be back. Thank you Jose for being a great host and big thank you to our server Emily. She was wonderful

Found this restaurant on yelp. Decided to give it a try as we were craving some authentic Mexican. Definitely AMEX food. Staff were friendly and restaurant appearedappear to be very clean. Would definitely give it a shot again. Reason for the three star is we had ordered some appetizers that didn't show up until 10 minutes after we received our main meals at the table.

This is going to be as short and sweet as my visit. Decided to hit this place up for some drinks after brunch. Seated ourselves because there wasn't anyone in the outside area. We sat outside for a minute even though several servers came outside and didn't acknowledge. After about 15 minutes we got some menus. We started off with some Margaritas. And I have to say that was one of the saddest margaritas I've ever had. I can't even tell you what I was drinking it was that bad. We didn't even finish them or chance it with ordering any food. That's it that's the review.

The music selection is fire though and I was jamming out the whole time while waiting for my food. I complimented them on the music selection and they mentioned the owner is dominican and puerto rican which explained the great music selection. I was helped out by Adrian and his service was helpful in finding what dishes to order. I took my food to go and it was piping hot, definitely made fresh to order which I enjoyed. The nachos were what I was most eager to try as they are all the rage on social media. They lived up to the hype and that nacho cheese is absolute gold. I love that it's served in a pizza box. It just makes it iconic. It travels well and everything was still hot when I got home. The Al Pastor taco was just okay, nothing to write home about but now the steak burrito was really really good. I love that they don't have rice in their burritos and instead replace it with potatoes, which is absolutely delicious. They give two different types of salsas with your order plus limes and the green salsa is unreal. Add it to everything for a flavor boost! All in all this place is fire and if you're craving nachos, this is definitely the place you should come to get your fix!

My dinner plans changed last minute due to the weather, which was heavily raining and decided on Lolita despite not having reservations. Upon arrival we were instructed to go upstairs where the very young and inexperienced host could not figure out the system and said sorry there was no availability to accommodate us. We left disappointed and while going downstairs I decided to pull uo their booking site to confirm availability. The system reflected several available time slots for dinner. Kudos to the downstairs host that accommodated us immediately once I showed her the system reflected availability. The servers were truly incredible downstairs and I appreciate the very attentive and charming service provided throughout the evening! I ordered a beet salad which was almost perfect but was lacking feta or goat cheese which I highly recommend they consider having in the kitchen. The oxtails tacos were delicious and very filing. I also enjoyed the brown dessert. Thank you for a yummy evening with fantastic service!
