He quickly reviewed our hot water heater, and asked a lot of questions. Initially we assumed that we had dry fired our heating elements during the remodel, but John continued to ask questions & went upstairs to look over our newly installed plumbing. He quickly identified that there was another issue with the new diverters in our showers that was causing our lack of hot water (service screws hadn't been tightened!). He saved us a few hundred dollars by accurately identifying the issue & executing a quick fix. Lastly he gave me advice to ensure that our reno plumbers accurately installed other new plumbing elements for our bathroom renovation, and took extra time out of his day to explain potential pitfalls to look out for. He truly cares about his clients. John was prompt, knowledgeable, and I would recommend his company to any one.

After asking for recommendations on our neighborhood FB page and reading so many raving reviews, we…read morecalled them out for our 4yr old water heater. We noticed some water leaking into the pan and Jacob, who was great, determined that we had to have one 5gal Expansion Tank and two Temperature and Pressure Relief Valves replaced. Where the problem comes in, is the outrageous pricing. They charged us aprox. $700 labor for a 1 hour job. The total time of the whole job with the consult was about two hours. With half that time being used chasing parts. He said that he didn't have the parts on the truck and had to go to both Lowes and Home Depot to find a tank. Not really my problem and I really don't think it's fair to include that time in my overall job. But, nonetheless they don't break it down. He just gave me an overall estimate of the job which was $914 after a $50 coupon. I asked him if it was a pretty fair price for the area, he said yes and I told him to go ahead and do it. I do take some responsibility in the fact that I didn't look through the iPad estimate myself and I assumed it was a fairly timely project. To my surprise, it took about 45 minutes from the time he walked into the basement with parts and was leaving my house. I was kind of left dumfounded at why a 45 min job cost so much, so I looked up the price of the actual parts. On the high end they would have cost about $200. So basically, I was charged $700 in labor for 45 total minutes of work. I called to speak to them about it afterwards and they explain some sort of overall job price that they use. They charge everyone the same whether your job takes 45 minutes or 4 -5 hours. I wasn't explained this or I would have looked for a second opinion. I thought I would be charged a fair price for MY specific job. That's not how they work I guess. I'm not naive to the fact that they have to factor in other costs, but that's just egregious in my opinion. So my recommendation is to get a SECOND opinion. Don't trust that it's a fair price like I did. I won't be recommending them on any review or my neighborhood FB page and will only caution people who ask. If anyone has questions or would like to see the invoice, I'd be happy to discuss. Just PM me. *** Edited to add that the plumber who came out was very polite and answered all of the questions I asked about the water heater and sump pump. He actually did a terrific job. This review doesn't pertain to him personally or the job itself.

Granitech came to my home within a couple of days of my inquiry to assess and measure the shower. The Granitech team was very responsive to my questions and made recommendations to ensure the design of the new shower aligned with my wants and needs. They also recommended replacing the 19-year old vanities/cabinets with new 34" heigh cabinets and provided a separate price quote with two design options. The shower renovation and cabinet replacement was reasonably priced. The Granitech team showed up as scheduled and was meticulous in laying floor covers from the front door to the upstairs master bathroom to protect the areas. Granitech demolished the existing shower down to the studs, installed new insulation, relocated the drain, installed new plumbing, shower head, wet-rated shower light fixture, onyx shower wall panels, hardware (towel racks, grab bars, toilet paper holders), new luxury cabinets/vanities. Granitech also coordinated the design and installation of a customer pivot shower door with Dulles Glass. The Granitech team installed everything to perfection, patched drywall in garage ceiling once the WSSC and county inspector confirmed work was compliant with building code. Constant communication and stellar project management coupled with highly skilled home improvement staff resulted in an excellent quality bathroom renovation. I am thoroughly pleased with my new bathroom. I look forward to using Granitech for future home improvement projects. Then they withheld my refund for two weeks when I told them I didn't want to continue working with such a disorganized company, and kept trying to offer a minimal discount to set up another date. It was bordering on harassment. The owner called me and offered me extra refund money not to post my opinion, which I declined, because this was a disaster. All told, I paid $10,050 for approximately 200 sq. ft. The stairs were a big expense (about $3k), but well worth it. I found Steve via HomeAdvisor. He came over, took measurements and photos, and within a day or two sent us beautiful high-tech renderings, along with estimates for all of the options. After getting two other bids, I chose Steve after he agreed to cut his bid from $11,200 to $10,500 (which ended up being $10,050 after he knocked off $450 for delays). He started within a couple weeks of his original estimate--weather obviously delays things--and while it took longer than it was supposed to, the end product is beautiful.

From the beginning of his crew showing up till the last piece of trash picked up they were extremely friendly and FAST!!
