We had a great time tonight at J. O'Grady's. Took my family for dinner and were seated immediately. Had drinks and appetizers within just a couple minutes. Our server was extremely helpful in answering questions about the menu and made sure to accommodate every special request we had regarding food. Ordered the shrimp tacos, and they were outstanding. The only thing stopping this from being a five star night was the dinner entree being served without a side. The price I paid for 3 shrimp tacos with only 3-4 shrimp per taco should have been enough to include fries. I had to pay 3 bucks for a side of fries with my meal. The fries and tacos were delicious though, and the service couldn't have been better. Great experience at J. O'Grady's - we will definitely be back. read more

Right when we opened the door the hostess had a big smile on her face! Didn't get her name our server Ashley was so sweet! Worst restaurant experience in my 25 years of existence!!! So me, my husband and 2 little boys came to visit family in Sumter for the day and wanted to finish it off with a good meal before heading back to Ft Stewart, GA (just a short 3 hour drive... No big deal). We picked this restaurant solely on Yelp reviews and we wanted to try something local instead of a chain restaurant. We met up with my aunt, uncle and 2 girls, so a total of 7 people plus infant at 7:30 and were immediately told that we have to eat outside because there's not enough space inside the restaurant, no big deal, the hostess could have been nicer about it but it was a nice evening( before we sat there for over an hour and it looked like it was going to pour down any second and it got too dark to really see what our food looked like). That was just strike 1. But at this point the place is starting to get full so the reviews have to be correct... WRONG! Before I rant any more, I completely understand it's not 1 person who is at fault. So we won't completely blame our waitress. So fast forward to an hour and ten minutes later.... We've placed our order, gotten a refill or two on our lemonades and that's it. Food is continuously being brought out, but we're still waiting. The one other table that was outside on our side has gotten their food like 20 minutes ago, they're actually almost completely done and were still waiting( hince they came in about 15 minutes after we were seated) At this point I'm still not annoyed, just hungry but optimistic. Now what got me, I guess strike 2, our waitress just kept walking by us, besides giving us the initial 2 lemonade refills she never came back out to update us on the status of our food, apologize for the extremely long wait or anything. Now the last straw and why I will never be back even though the food looks amazing is, so our food finally comes! Haha yea right, that sounds too easy. My aunt, uncle and two girls got half of their food, now the reason why I say half their food is because they got their burgers but not the fries because according to our waitress "they ran out", and then it was "they just put them in". Now the fries did not come until they were pretty much done with their meal... My husband, myself and 4 year old son got to sit and watch them eat. At this point 850 my son is crying and not understanding why his cousins get to eat and our food is nowhere in sight, at this point I'm just completely fed up! Since our blonde waitress was nowhere in sight at this point and the waitress bussing the table next to us had 0 interest in helping us I went to speak to the hostess and was told our food should be coming shortly... what restaurant feels it's ok to serve half the table and let the other half just sit there and watch?! A minute or 2 ok I get it, but it took me going in there a second time at 9 for them to all of a sudden have our orders a fish taco and 2 burgers with fries, not a complicated order at all. At that point I'm ready to pay for our lemonades and my sons fish taco because my husband and I lost our appetites and sent our food back. And what put the icing on the cake was again, there was no type of apology or anything from our waitress and I asked for the check, and she charged us full price. The only highlight was after her sorry customer service and lack of remorse, being that I've worked and managed in the customer service field for the last eight and a half years I was able to speak to the manager and if nothing else at least let him know how poorly we were treated. He even comped not just our bill but my aunts which I was not wanting out of it or expecting and at least he apologized even if he didn't mean it. Me and my husband left without eating a thing. And just drove right back to ft Stewart on an empty stomach. read more

This restaurant is definitely one of the better places to eat in Sumter. They have a fun and unique burgers, and some great pulled-pork tacos. My husband and I really enjoy eating here due to their food and fun atmosphere. There service has also been very good every time we have visited.... they do not try to rush you out! Very nice and friendly staff! You will feel welcomed from the moment you step foot into the door. Jim one of the bartenders was very helpful with pointing out what's their best sellers on the menu and giving us a little history of the place. All of the pictures and memorabilia on the walls are from the Sumter Hall of Fame! Our waitress Dary'n was nice and friendly. She made sure that we were well taken care of. They have a wide selection of beers to choose from and the food is wonderful. We had their "Fork & Knife" burgers with fries which comes with a side of garlic aioli for dipping. We also had the homemade pork rinds with homemade Roasted Pimento Cheese dip. Their burgers are truly special and specially named like The P'15 or Sammy Way. If you're in the downtown Sumter area you must drop by for a bite to eat and a cold drink. You will fall in love with this place. read more

If you want a great burger and fries, good service and lots of knowledge about former New York Yankee 2nd Baseman Bobby Richardson this is the place to go! Our server, Erika B was wonderful! I had a black bean burger - Fall Classic. It was amazing! I loved it! It came with a knife holding it together. Of course, you need it to cut it to eat it! My husband had the Cannerella beef burger. He thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I only have one small disappointment, our fries could have been more crisp. The atmosphere and decor was fantastic. Went on a Friday night around 6 and were seated right away. Our waitress was great. She was attentive, friendly and helpful with suggestions on the menu since it was our first time. She comped us a free half size app because it was our first time visiting which was fantastic. Fries with bleu cheese bbq ranch and bacon. I got the black bean coach moodys heater with Cole slaw and it was right on point. Definitely one of the best black bean burgers I have had. The burger had a nice amount of heat that was cooled by the Cole slaw. My husband got the beef burger game cock city with fries and he thought it was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back. Food is okay not accommodating to kids was told I couldn't keep my stroller but they don't have high chairs so not sure what they expect for kids. No kids menu and very limited overall menu for the price i would go to the Hamptons for lunch. Don't have a beer menu and tell you took look up the beer on you're phone. The food (burgers all I have order the three times I have been there) were actually extremely good, very large, full of flavor and their fries were also great with a fresh taste, (you can just tell when they are fried in there own separate oil which these obviously are and when they are not) I like almost everything except for the fact that it is basically a great restaurant in a dark bar. Amazing food, great service! They make their own pork skins, of which you get a complimentary bucket when you arrive. They are so good!! Then...there are the burgers! Oh. My. Goodness! There are so many options and terrific toppings from which to choose. Their fries are good, but I regret not trying the loaded potato salad. I guess that gives me a good excuse to return! I loved the booths and the decor. We visited on a Monday at noon, so parking was a breeze. We will definitely return! read more

They have a short list of craft beers, but unlike placed that has a beer list of hundreds, the bartender, Channing, knew each of the brews intimately and was more than willing to spend time to help you pick your beer. The young ladies working the floor were bubbly and quick with service. They even have live music starting after 6pm. Now the food. I had a burger and fries. It came with a garlic aioli dipping sauce that married up well with the fries. A bit salty for me, but very good. The burger itself was excellent, on sourdough toast with bacon, a fried egg, and ghost pepper jack cheese. The cheese was hot, but he excellent draft beer kept the heat in check, making the entire experience quite delightful. J O'Grady's has only been around for a couple years, but based upon the crowd they had on a Monday night, they will have a very bright future. read more
