Ordered the Coach Baker's taco salad on the recommendation of a friend. Was not impressed at all. He saw my food and said, "that's not what it looks like when you get it there". The chips were stale and the person taking my order didn't even ask if I wanted dressing. I just assumed they were like that with eat in or carryout. Know what happens when you assume. Stopped in this small town overnight on a road trip. This place looked like a nice brew and burger hangout, and the classic old town bar decor and warm murmur of the locals proved very inviting. Service was friendly and quick, and to say the food was cooked and delivered in a speedy fashion is an understatement (I think it was 2-3 minutes from order to the plate in front of me). Excellent variety of chicken and beef burgers. The names of sandwiches are creative and original to the town. For food this is my favorite restaurant in town. Only downfalls are the tables are small so if you have a large group you have to sit outside or separate, and sides aren't included with the sandwiches so you have to pay extra for any sides at all. Server was good, but it took a long time to get my meal. That's the kitchen's fault, not hers. Built my own sandwich included a pretty good crab cake. Ate outside. Too bad you have to listen to the constant sounds of sirens, people driving loud pick up trucks and other vehicles with loud music blasting. Not very relaxing. Downtown Sumter needs to work with the ambulance companies to see if they could use alternative sirens. I've seen it done in other downtowns that have hospitals. read more

The restaurant has a great menu but the thing that bothered us was the amount of young employees just standing around the bar chatting and texting. It seemed very unprofessional and they continually played with their hair just a foot from where we were eating. Had a great dinner with good friends tonight. Friends both had mushroom swiss burgers on salt and pepper buns. My wife had a chicken sandwich with the kitchen sink. I had SC pulled pork tacos. We all shared two baskets of fries. Portions are big and the food is great. Server was attentive and kept my tea glass full. He was rewarded accordingly. Will definitely be going back. My husband and I decided to try this restaurant and we were pleased! We both made our own burgers. Mine was a little over cooked and the meat didn't have much flavor, but everything else I added made up for it! It's a little pricey for burgers, but it's a nice place. I love the pub like environment, The service was right on...our drinks were always full, our food was quick and we had dated to-go boxes delivered as soon as we were finished eating. My sis-in-law and I both had burgers. She loved hers; I thought mine was so-so. I wish the server had given me the opportunity to order how I wanted the burger cooked; I might have enjoyed it more if it wasn't so well done. My brother had the pulled pork tacos and he enjoyed them. The burger menu is very unique and even had a make-your-own option. Overall, next time I'm in Sumter I'll probably swing by again. read more

Not a good place to drink, EXCELLENT place to eat! Tons of adventurous burgers to choose from including the build your own option. They also have a bunch of great sides and appetizers (homemade pork rinds with pimento cheese). All of this with great service at a reasonable price. We were in Dalzell for Christmas and made a run over to Sumter to Cut Rate Pharmacy for my folks. We saw JO Grady's across the street and decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did! They have a good selection of interesting burgers that can all be done with a black bean burger for non-carnivores like me. I love a good sloppy burger but lots of places don't offer veggie versions. My burger had guacamole , pico, lettuce tomato and sour cream . My husband had one that had a variety of things including chili! Both were on their "salt and pepper" bun which was totally delicious - much like an "everything " bagel. Our server was very nice and attentive . They have other sandwiches and tacos and a bar! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to grab a casual meal! read more

Stopped here on a road trip to Florida from Pennsylvania. The place is cozy, inviting, and very clean. Great atmosphere.Our waitress Emily was very friendly. I've only been once but I would go back. Not bad, the service was fast and pleasant. The beer was cold and the food was hot. My friends burger was a bit over done but she said it was still decent enough and all the veggies were fresh and not limp or slimy. We stopped by while passing through on a Thursday evening. The atmosphere was low-key and service was prompt. We didn't have to wait long for our meal. We loved the create-your-own sandwich option. My young daughter and I split a meal and the server was kind enough to ask the kitchen to divide our side into two dishes. The food was great -we got a burger, chicken sandwich, onion rings, and baked beans- and we left very full. They also have a great selection of beer and a yummy bacon and beer ice cream for desert. read more

Wasn't bad but nothing exciting. Staff not terribly friendly. My flatbread tasted like propane gas. I went alone and they would not allow me to have a regular sized table - on one hand I get that -- but I felt like a kid stuck in detention -- facing the wall at a tiny table placed in an uncomfortably tight spot.
