Straight up confusing !! Every time I come here I get lost…read more Half of the mall is on one side of the Marine Drive, and the other half is on the other. Some of the stores are on the inside of the mall, some on the outside. Even staff working there, didn't know and couldn't tell me where certain stores were. The directory didn't help either. However, this may of been my fault, as I can't seem to read maps. Other then logistics, this mall does have some great stores - Free People, Hot Topic, Winners, Dollarama, MAC, Forever 21, The Bay, Urban Outfitters, Off 5th and many more! You need some time to be able to shop here, and that's just one of the sides! I would give it another star if it wasn't so confusing!

Vancouver's vintage and consignment is already notoriously expensive and caters almost exclusively to a small dress size. Community, a Vintage and Consignment that is run by a non-profit Downtown Eastside housing and resource society not only engages with the neighbourhood it lives in, but also works to diversify its size range to engage with shoppers of many sizes. It hires women from the neighbourhood to work in the business and portions of the proceeds go back into the neighbourhood, which feels great while you shop! The space is small but well utilized and well decorated. Great jewelry by local designers is on display and the clothes have a very consistent and curated turnover rate. And the prices!! Compared to Vancouvers vintage scene, Community is absolutely the fairest price I've found yet. These days even Value Village is getting pricey so to go to a shop where the selection is so well picked out and find something affordable feels great. Again, I'm a plus size shopper who finds an amazing score here 90% of the time. Pieces from Community make up probably 50% of my wardrobe. See you there this weekend!

It is made in India, so I doubted it was worth that much. After I purchased it, I went home and searched online, where I found the same jacket for $65 - $90. Of course, there is no law against making a profit, but this store is a rip-off. Encore fooled me once, but I will never shop at Encore Fashion Boutique again. Beware!

In a perfect world, we'd all be at liberty to spend hours traversing the city in hopes we might accidentally stumble upon an item we are looking for in a specific shop. In a perfect world, we'd all be at liberty to make endless phone calls to businesses in our search for a specific item. Cue the 21st Century, where we have this miraculous invention called the internet. A place where one can carpetbomb positive reviews, yet in the same breath not actually engage with customer inquiries. When things don't add up properly, there is usually a good reason for the discrepancy.

From within a steampunk-ish Quonset hut meets Country & Western travel trailer, this little donation-only thrift store still manages to delight. Outside it has the look of something almost military, but inside it's just a warm and fuzzy Sally Ann. There are lots of somewhat organized (darn you, customers) shelves of just about everything you might imagine in such a shop. Bowen Island has a small population, just under 4000 people, but this little store gets a wide (weird) variety of wares from an eclectic group of donating Boners (Bowen Island inhabitants). How about a set of book ends made of golf balls? yep, they got'em, well at least until I bought them. It's not a big shop, but the stuff they get in will sometimes amaze you. They don't have everything and some of what they have is typical thrift store junk, but occasionally you'll hit gold here. The store is worked by a lively group of mature employees that don't take any guff, so leave your guff at home. As for the pricing, that's another plus, it ranges from "pretty darn good" to "man, what a deal!" When on Bowen, there are a few must do's for the uninitiated, walk the lake, stroll Artisan Square and visit the Knick Knack Nook. But seriously, to say that the KKN a well-kept secret would be an understatement, it's a locals cache located on a part of Bowen that tourists don't usually find. But if you find yourself on Bowen, then let yourself enjoy a little of the kindness of Boner generosity. You can even take some home for a very reasonable price. I have been enjoying the KKN for many years now and although I don't find something great on every visit, I am always happy I went in to see.
