Michelle, Catherine and the other women at KK Boutique were friendly and accommodating and I managed to find a great mermaid-style dress which cost around $250 with tax. I think the prices start from $125 upwards - not sure because I only tried on the traditional red ones. They have all sorts of styles and do customized dresses as well. Alterations are free with the purchase and can be done at anytime provided there's a receipt. Before going to KK, I went to Parker Place which only had one store selling the dresses but had no luck there. They even told me to go to Chinatown so that's exactly what I did. While it would be nice to go to Hong Kong or China for an even better selection (and likely cheaper too), that's a little too far for me. I'm also a little wary of getting clothes online, especially for a wedding. After a tricky search online, I came across KK Boutique and Ochi (across the street) in Chinatown. I wonder if there are other stores in town that I missed? Regardless, I'm very happy with the dress I found and I highly recommend this place.

There is always someone on the computer at the cash desk more fascinated by what is happening on it, and if you do say hello to one of he staff who work there, you're given a quick hello and not even asked if you're looking for anything -- nothing. This is a story re that is severely pretentious, knows it, and loves it. The only time anyone looks or smiles at you is when they notice you are going to buy a lot of things, then the woman who works there and the owner starts up the conversation with full smiles. It's very transparent, and leaves you not feeling important but feeling exploited for cash, only to live like look at what you bought and realize it's overpriced, easy to find the same brand and item online for 50% less than what you paid, and with better selection. This place hasn't changed its inventory since I first shopped here two years ago. All in all, there are plenty of other places like this that sell these products. My wife found a lot of stuff that they sell in the store at many big box stores. If you visit the store and worry that what you want to buy won't be there, it will. Most of the items are the same, outdated, and easy to find at an IKEA or Chapters, or a few blocks away in Chinatown.

I phoned ahead to confirm Blair Shapera's location and said I would be coming in that day. When I arrived I was told they were down staff and usually work with appointments. This was not mentioned on the phone. However I understand how stuff happens and said I'd return the next day. No harm, no foul, but again, no appointment was required for my dropping by the next day. The next day I did came in and was fitted for a shirt - getting a shirt made is a good way to see how a clothier runs things and the product they produce. I paid, but on the way out Blair explained to me that in the future if I am in the store and someone more important enters then, and I quote: "understand that you will then become invisible to me". What a horrid way to treat people, more so a customer. If I were suddenly made invisible in the middle of a fitting, visit, or appointment because someone better arrived, I would be humiliated, belittled, and likely livid. Fortunately I found out about their attitude toward less-important customers like myself before that situation came to fruition. I wrote them a letter about this experience, explaining how I could not work with a team which would make me a non-person at the opening of a door, and that they could discard the shirt. I don't want a refund, I don't want the shirt. I don't want to do business that would treat me as invisible. Perhaps this is all a massive misunderstanding, but I received no response to my letter. No apology, no clarification, no explanation, nothing. I can only conclude that this truly is how they want to run their business. If you want to go somewhere and risk being treated like a piece of nothing, then this is your place.
