I've been coming to this salon for a while now and it is my go-to salon for my nails! For me, it's worth the drive because the effort, care, and time that is put into my nails to look amazing and last long is unmatched! I love the simplistic look in the studio. And their playlist is very calming, sometimes I feel like I'm going to fall asleep haha. But I enjoy being in a salon that's not overly busy and chaotic. Atsuko does such a fantastic job with making sure each nail is worked on well. From the cuticles to meticulously applying the polish, she doesn't rush. Also, there are some beautiful nail art designs she has displayed if you ever want inspiration on your next design. I would highly recommend coming here for your nails! read more

I highly recommend coming here for an authentic Japanese nail experience. Atsuko-san is so nice and efficient while delivering high quality Japanese-style nails. The salon is very calming and I felt so relaxed during my appointment. I got a simpler maroon design for my first time here and I loved them so much - I never thought I would love such a simple design! I had an excellent experience when I came to get a manicure 2 weeks ago. The manicure is still holding up pretty well after 2 weeks with only minimal chipping. I showed Atsuko a photo of what I had in mind and she was very helpful when helping me pick the colors. She also asked about my experience with getting my nails done and where my manicures would start peeling. There was a lot of attention to detail when she hand drew the snowflakes and she asked if I was satisfied with the nail shape. J Flow is appointment only so make sure to book one before coming in. I would definitely return in the future! read more

Please save your time and avoid this business - you would think the business owner is the most competent person - you thought wrong. Not only is she impatient with a mean attitude but she also doesn't know how to manage her own time with customers. She has a talent for making customers feel guilty over making their own color choices and managed to somehow make it my problem that she has a back to back appointment. (context: I was on time for my simple nail art appt with nail removal included, purely her fault for not accounting ~2 hrs as marketed on her website). Oh I also took a picture of my nail below - you can see the dust particles and fuzz all stuck on my nails because she didn't take the appropriate time for them to actually dry under UV. The way how she operates her business is fundamentally flawed - people get their nails done as a way to pamper themselves - not to pay money to walk on eggshells and hear her complain. Hope she learns her lesson the hard way by losing customers. read more

Atsuko's work is top tier! My nails were flawless and soooo beautiful. They even lasted for about 2-3 weeks! Her station is very clean and calming. Her designs are nicely displayed and neatly organized, so if you come in without inspiration, it's okay because you definitely have a lot that you can choose from. Atsuko is very thorough, calculated, and meticulous! The results were unlike anything I've experienced before. She hand-painted the ombré and the designs and did the painting in layers to add depth & dimensions in the flowers. She told me she often goes to class to learn about new nail art concepts I. Japan! The price absolutely reflects her craftsmanship. It can be very expensive depending on how many premium designs you choose to get. However, Atsuko is very skilled in simple designs as well as complex designs with nail jewels, glitter and more. She is appointment only-- no walk ins! I was introduced to Japanese Gel from a friend. Typically when I do gel nails, they'll last 4 days tops. Because I'm rough on my hands, they'll start to lift, get caught in my hair, chip, etc. I found Atsuko on Yelp and tried her out. Got pink gel with white marble and gold flakes. This is a premium design so cost $150. She was so detailed and took her time. Appointment was roughly 90mins long and she does not use water. This manicure lasted 5 weeks... and could 100% go for a few more weeks. In the photo you can see I had them done Jan 19 and am here on Feb 26 getting them done again. I even filed them down after 3 weeks due to nail growth but the filing didn't compromise the structure of the polish at all. I am so impressed. Money super well spent. Would highly recommend Atsuko! read more

Got a single color gel. Barely took care of the cuticles, finished with uneven texture, the gel was painted kinda rough on the edges. Starts to chip after a week. You can see the dates from my screenshots. I chose this place for nails after reading all the good reviews. Not sure why mine is such a rough work. I wonder if it's cuz I only chose the basic one color instead of paying a lot for designs so I got treated differently. read more

Atsuko is amazing! I got my nails done by her for the first time back in February. She is very meticulous, clean, and gentle during the entire process. She also makes sure throughout the process that everything is okay with you. It was a great experience and I was very happy with my nails. I love Hana Nails. My last manicure lasted me 3 weeks! I had to go to another person to get my fill in (she books up pretty quickly) and not only did they know what my design was (soot sprites) but they also knew of Hana Nails. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! Atsuko is so kind and sweet. Everything in the salon is very clean. With COVID, she went above and beyond to make sure everything was clean and sanitized. Checking my temp at the door, clean towels and equipment, and washing her hands in between. And I appreciate how she took her time paying special attention to every detail. Atsuko was super AMAZING!! She definitely took extra care when removing my existing gel polish. I do get the occasional graze of the "roller drill" (I don't know what the actual name of the tool haha), and it hurts. But with Atsuko she definitely took her time! Atsuko just gave me the best manicure I've had in my entire life and I've had a LOT of them, including from Japanese and Korean manicurists in the United States and in Asia. I almost hesitate to post this review because it'll make her harder to book but she deserves the business. I made an appointment with Atsuko on Wednesday evening for an appointment the next day. I arrived with gel nail polish on my nails from a previous gel manicure and was amazed at the time and care that Atsuko put into removing the gel off of my nails. She put a lot of time into cleaning and buffing my nails. I believe it took her around 45 minutes to an hour just to remove my previous gel nail polish and that is usually the amount of time that my go to nail salon takes to remove gel nail polish and complete a new gel manicure. My nails looked clean and healthy after she removed the gel polish. The next hour focused on Atsuko carefully filing my nails, painting them and conducting designs. I showed her a design image that I wanted and was impressed at how extremely similar my nails turned out to be compared to the design. My concluding thoughts are that I really enjoy the amount time that Atsuko puts into her work; her design has lasted so far (It has been a week and I have a lot of stones glued on my nails, which have not budged.); She is really sweet and creative with her designs; and getting your nails done by Atsuko is an investment. Her prices tend to be higher than your typical nail salon. My manicure total came out to about $85. One thing to note about the location is that it was slightly difficult finding Atsuko's studio as it is located on the second story of a building within a salon, however, Atsuko informed me that she plans to move to another location in Campbell. I will definitely be returning to get my nails done in the future for special occasions where I want a unique design. read more

Atsuko is EXTREMELY talented and kind. I wanted to get my nails done for an upcoming wedding and she was extremely meticulous in creating a beautiful design with flowers. She is very gentle and takes her time to make sure each nail looks perfect. I also like how the materials she use does not smell. I love all things sparkly and I feel like she read my mind and added some extra gold glitter to my nails to make them really pop. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. This is a one lady show so unless your friend is willing to wait their turn for 1.5-2 hours until you're done, you're better off coming on your own. The location is in the back of a hair salon so it's not very obvious where it is when you park. Just look for Vanity Hair Salon and walk to the back. The owner, Atsuko wasn't kidding when she said it would take 1.5 hours as my appointment took 2 hours. They were so many designs to choose from that it was overwhelming for someone like me who have trouble making decisions. Most designs ranged from $65-75. A little on the pricey side. She recommended that I cut my cuticles for an extra $10 so I opted for it. She was very detailed and even wanted to make sure that the nail length was the same on both hands. My eyes were getting sore watching her place these tiny stones on the nail so I can imagine how her eyes must get strained. After she is done with the nails, she offers to apply cuticle oil and hand lotion in the scent of your choice. All in all, it was a great experience and it looked great. My only qualm is that 2 of the stones fell off within a week and that it is difficult to get a hold of her. Every time I called to make an appointment or to see if she can do a repair, I had to leave a message as she often will not take phone calls while she is working with a client. We ended up playing phone tag a lot which was a little annoying. Hopefully, she can start communicating via email in the future. read more

If you're looking for a regular manicure or a nail shop like all the rest. This isn't the place for you! I got referred to heavenly nails by one of Atsuko's clients. She had a simple and elegant design that was very lovely. She told me to check out the site. I looked at the prices and was a bit skeptical if a manicure could really be worth so much $. I quickly learned you pay for the quality and hospitality. So for all you ladies out there tired of trying regular nail salons and being unhappy with the experience.. Masato is an incredible hair stylist. I have Asian hair, with 2 cowlicks and straight hair that shows any mistakes, he layers and uses Japanese styling techniques better than anyone I have had cut my hair. Atsuko is definitely the best nailist in this area! I really enjoy Japanese nail art so I'm glad she's back with her own salon! She is very professional and nice. She won't keep talking to you if you don't feel like talking. She definitely won't scratch your fingers or cause anything unpleasant which happened multiple times when I visit other salons. There are many designs to choose from! You can do custom design or just simple colors. If you're not so sure, you can also ask her for advice. There are lots of colors and little things to choose from so make sure you check those out! The cuticle oil and hand cream she use is also not something unknown! She'll let you know the price before she start working her magic so don't have to worry about being charged more than you have in mind! I went to Atsuko twice - once for gel manicure + Japanese design and the other time for gel removal. I went into the appointment with a design in mind, these galaxy nails that I had seen on Arden Cho's instagram page (https://www.instagram.com/p/BLQAMbXANvT/?taken-by=arden_cho&hl=en). Unfortunately she didn't have the materials to carry out the design I truly wanted so we decided on having black base nails and adding simple gold geometric designs. At one point, she added this chrome powder on my nail that made it shimmery bright silver and was surprised that I didn't like the effect. She told me that she thought that that was something I wanted which shocked me because we never discussed adding silver powder onto my nails. If she had any questions or needed additional confirmation, she could have asked me before applying on the powder and assuming that that's what I wanted. Another reason why I decided not to return to Atsuko is her gel removal process. She uses this machine with a drill bit to remove the surface of the gel and I honestly feel scarred by it. When she removed the gel, I swear I felt the surface of my nails burn and sting! After Atsuko removed my nails, my nails became very brittle and weak. I was afraid of applying pressure to my nails for fear of them constantly breaking off. My current nail artist told me that you shouldn't feel pain when using a drill bit properly. If you do feel stinging, burning pain, that means that the drill bit has gone too far deep. She also uses a drill bit, very similar to the one Atsuko uses, and it does not hurt at all because she does it patiently and with care, unlike Atsuko who I feel rushes through the gel removal process. Overall, I will not be going back to Atsuko because I am disappointed with her quality of service. I feel that she does not openly communicate with her clients to further understand what the client's wishes are and in addition, she does not handle the gel removal process with enough care and caution. read more

I booked two appointments one for myself and one for my soon-to-be-aunt before her wedding as a cute pre-wedding festivity after hearing about Atsuko through one of my co-workers. Being from the East Bay I was a little hesitant about making the drive to Campbell just to get my nails done, but I can now safely the drive was definitely worth it and one I see myself doing for other treat myself moments in the future. I've been coming to see Atsuko regularly twice or at least once a month. I've been very generous with my tips and referred her biz to so many of my friends. But in return, she never appreciated in fact she just kept ripping me off. 1. One time i made appointment with her, i drove 1 hour from Peninsula where i live, when i got there she said she could only do a simple design because she doesnt have time and only have 1,5 hour. Why did you take my appointment then or why didnt you tell me? I wouldnt drive all the way if it was just a simple design. Fine, i did it anyway even i was upset. 2. The last time i went there, i showed her a picture of nail design which is very similar to her existing design BUT I WANTED TO ADD MY OWN STICKERS and change the color. She said oh no problem she could make it, but she never told me it would be a different price. When she gave me the bill, omg! I almost fainted, $108 instead of regular $78! She then explained to me that she charged every single thing like ala carte because she said its a custom design. Wtf? She SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME BEFORE she agreed to do it that it'd be different price even though its so similar to the one she normally does! She charged basic custom design $40, she charged every single stone $1 ea, total $44 because she put 44 stones on my nails. She charged $10 for removing my nail polish and i dont know what the heck she charged again the total came out $108!!!! For comparison, other japanese nail art places charge $0.50/ stone, Atsuko charges $1! Nail polish remove $5, Atsuko charges $10! On top of that she doesn't even trim cuticles because thats another $5! RIP OFF!! Not to mention i gave half sheet of my stickers imported from Korea! I left without tipping and NEVER COME BACK AGAIN! BYE ATSUKO FOREVER, i am very disappointed of your service! You take advantage of my loyalty and generosity! Fyi, i found there are so many other places that do the same designs with cheaper price and better service. read more

My bf took me there for my birthday. Nails: nicely done. Good skills. Customer service: she literally asked me for tip saying "do you need change?" when my bf paid (His change was $10). We were going to tip her anyways but isn't this rude? At least it was for us. What made me feel worse is she didn't ask the question to my bf. He is the person who paid. In stead of asking him, she asked me in Japanese, which he doesn't understand at all. I thought it was disrespectful Well, her skill is nice. But I'm not coming back. read more

Being Japanese, my dream was to be able to share Japanese techniques and designs with everyone here in the Bay Area, and this dream came true with the opening of J Flow Hair and Nail. I messaged them on their website since they were closed when I noticed, and asked if I could come in for a redo, but they never responded. I was pretty busy the rest of the week so wasn't really able to pop in, anyway. Over the next week most of my nails started to lift/bubble up which was pretty annoying.

I wanted something that felt different and special. The more I asked though, it seemed like the technicians did not actually know how to do the designs I was asking for. That is when it started to click for me that the pushback was less about preference and more about skill level. To make things worse, the techs needed to move on to their next appointment before I was actually happy with my nails, which made the experience feel even more rushed. There was no chance to slow down, talk through options, or really feel cared for. It was far from a spa like experience. I ended up walking out with squared French tips with silver nail polish, which was far from the inspiration pics I showed them. My cuticles were also cut too deep on both my hands and my feet. I paid more to get my nails redone at another salon because of how unhappy I was with how far off my nails were compared to my inspo pics.
