I asked what cabinet distributors they used and she couldn't give me a name, she said they use many. I then asked what the difference would be between getting a particular cabinet color (not knowing what my options were or what would be in stock without a company name), and she said custom vs semi custom are just words and that it's all pretty much custom so it wouldn't make a difference. Upon asking a few more questions, she proceeded to tell me "I'm not sure if you saw, but our company has almost a 5-star review and that's almost unheard of". I didn't know what to make of it, but considering what some of their reviews mentioned, I felt as though we were going to get the same treatment. She said she'd get back to me by Friday with a quote and a visual of the kitchen updates-- it was Tuesday that day. We gave her a call that Friday afternoon to follow up and she insisted that the cabinet company was taking a while and that she'd get back to us by Monday the latest if not over the weekend. We waited and got nothing so my husband called her the following Wednesday without ever hearing from her. She continued to reassure us that she hasn't forgotten about us and that she'd get back to us by Monday for sure. It's now been 21 days and we got no updates or any communication from them. It's clear that this is a pattern for them and I'd advise someone looking to get work done by someone reliable and honest to look elsewhere.

I found them here on Yelp and I obtained 3 quotes for the job. I had the quotes reviewed by an independent contractor who told me L&R's quote was what the job should reasonably cost. I called 4 references who all had a similar and very positive experience. Lawrence always communicated with me about schedule which had not been the case with other contractors. They were there working on my job every day, not showing up once or twice a week like some others. Any fluctuation to schedule or budget was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We had a couple of unexpected plumbing delays but that was due to the original build not being up to the current code. I changed direction on a couple of design decisions and Lawrence was right there with me. The work was exceptional and the end product is amazing. I have had the nightmare contractor experience so was very cautious. This was exactly as the process should be and I plan to have them back in the fall to do more work. He can run electric, gas lines, water lines, but he knows when it's appropriate to pass the job on to someone more qualified than he, and he'll always have a name to give you of someone as honest as he is. And ask the neighbors about the kind of person he is. A heart as big as all outdoors, never saying no to someone in need no matter how bad the timing (burying a horse, digging out after Snowmageddon). I can't think of anyone who has ever hired him who doesn't also think of him as a friend. That's the kind of neighbor you want to have, and the kind of contractor you want working around your place.
