light went one. I got it checked at O'Reilley's first then had it sent back to JD byrider. Oreilleys said it was the throttle body but JD byrider said it was the serpentine belt and alternator. $600 fix plus $65 for diagnosing it. Also not even sure if those are the only things wrong with it. Throttle body is $300 alone too. Wrong battery. Needs new lights. Etc,etc. If anyone has similar problems reach out to me. They're may not be lemon laws in Illinois on used cars but I'm sure companies can't consistently sell cars like this with problems like this. Do not buy a car from here. I am a faithful paying customer for 15 months straight. Even through the loss of my job I paid this place faithfully, never missed a payment. They mishandled my records and accused me of not paying on time. Supposedly a payment was due on Friday. A male employee (very kind young man) called me and I told him in July that I have a new job and here is my pay new schedule, they said ok sign these papers, I did. The same issue came up again and he asked me to send the schedule again. I did. I have signed twice now this form saying and agreeing that payments will be the 15th and last day of the month and I never missed a payment So on Friday the 13th first i got a text saying a payment was due on the 13th. I responded and said pull the payment on the 15th bc that's when i get paid, remember? So I get a phone call on the 11th from the finance manager and her buddy called me and threatened to come take my car due to non payment "and you're only making things worse" and "just sign the paper", "why are you so upset", "don't yell at me" I told her that i am being assertive because what happened to the two agreements that I have signed about the same situation; when she said to me that they didn't have any updated information on me since last July I knew something was fishy. They sell cars that are not in shape first of all but me being loyal and needing my car just kept making payments, never been late! This Kayla woman sent them to repossess my car on yesterday and sending me emails in a demeaning tone demanding and trying to put on record, telling me that we recorded your phone call and telling me you surrender over the phone isn't surrendering. I was at work that morning and planned on bringing the car in but nope instead she only cared about proving herself. I told her that i was surrending the car but she pulled a power play and towed my car on the 16th for a payment that was due on the 15th!!! No grace period, no talk, nothing just derogatory speech and using bogus tactics to manipulate. I have paid them almost 8k for this car that is only worth 2k and still have a balance of 14k! I know, if I had known I know now to never deal with sharks in the car arena. didn't believe it was true. It was so heartbreaking, I just cried and said forget it Now I have $800 to save and care for my girls. I will never be loyal to another company like this again. Very disheartening. She refused to listen and had not one hint of empathy. It was like talking to a computer, the responses were robotic, low vibrational, lacking any hope and not a slight of 'let me hear my faithful customer out who has never missed a payment' it was a revenge tactic. Like when someone is displacing their anger out on the wrong target. Very bad service. Paying $650 (and they made me pay this silly insurance fee even though I had full coverage) for a 2015 basic model Jeep was insane to begin with. But they definitely will take advantage of anyone who is in need with their enticing program. Be very careful with this location. Every mistake a lesson. You will be blessed beyond measure is the message I got because I am not a victim or crying wolf just because. This company did me wrong and I hope that they do get exposed because it's too much on a person to have to deal with. I can see if I was late and not communicating. Everything was going great with them I had never had a problem until it came to getting my title once I paid my car off. They told me I would have it in 7-10 business days okay no problem I didn't get it for almost a month. Once they did send it out I had to go track down a mail man to get it because they put the wrong address on the package after I confirmed with them 4 times which address they where going to send it to. I just bought a car from this place. I had no choice due to my credit history. But if they're a company that is helping people. They really shouldn't lie. They had me there for more than 3 hours for a simple transaction. They say you have to watch a video going over everything a lady in finance just did. Sarah tried to sell me the warranty package for $2k and turned out with the payments I would have paid over $4K. So, I had them take it off because another lady who was going over the paperwork said it was actually optional. I was like WTF!!!! Plus, I asked if there was anything wrong with the car Sarah the sales lady said no and give me a BS report. I paid for the Carfax after the fact. 11/13/12 there was an accident on the car. It was repaired. (Sarah if you are reading this look it up!!). It has a ton of other stuff on there. The car did not have mats either and I asked about them and they gave some BS mats. I also asked her to ask when the last oil change was done on the vehicle she still has not replied to my request. Those whole experience was horrendous and they have the audacity to keep texting me for referrals. Maybe it's an automated thing! My point to all of this pay for your Carfax report. I bought a car here about five months ago. In the beginning of the week (Monday) I was leaving work, got about a block from my job, when my engine just stalled. I pulled over and tried to restart to no avail. It seemed like the battery died. I had someone come try to jump me, but still nothing. Yellow smoke started coming out of the center heart of the engine. I had it towed to Byrider. After service already closed. They said they needed 2-3 days to diagnose it. Wednesday they called and told me that it was major engine damage. The engine was toast! Because I did all of my scheduled maintenance, the over $4000 repair would be covered under my warranty. Let me start off by saying I got this car back in November 2021, 3 months after I got it I started having problems with it, I called service and they wanted $50 just to tell me what was wrong! So I went where they have free diagnosis on the car ! They told me I need a whole new engine cradle and a list of other things but the engine cradle was the most important part to get fixed! I paid $1100 to get that fix, then months later I had to replace more parts on the car & then fast forward to now, I'm moving to Texas I'm thinking I'm going to take my truck and basically when I get it looked at to make sure it make it they tell me you need a whole new from axel, two tire rods, front struts , full suspension kit, both control arms! BASICALLY ITS A LEGO CAR! I called them to try and give them the car back cause I'm not bout to spend $1000 just for all that and the shit still ain't perfect! I called to speak to the CNAC FINANCE MANAGER JENNIFER AND THAT LADY IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE ! I've never been rude to anybody up there I made my payments on time! It's sad that people who can't get cars from other dealerships have to resort to JD Byrider who claims to be helpful. Total opposite. Out of the five cars my family and I have purchased only one of them barely needed repairs. The rest needed repairs either within the week or within the month. My last vehicle I purchased with them was late by five days and it was all because of a pay date change that they knew of and a letter that my employer didn't send to them as if she doesn't have her own life and obviously can't stop doing her government job to send a letter of a pay date change immediately. The end result of that last vehicle was the head account manager, Jennifer T, saying that she was going to do me a favor and basically act as if the contract never happened and won't put a repossession on my credit. I feel bad to the people that I referred to this company as they are going through trouble with them as well. Totally not worth the $250 referral. People depend on these cars to get back-and-forth to work, to be able to survive. It's their livelihoods that are being at stake. I would not ever in my life deal with this company ever again and I suggest you wouldn't either. I'm only lucky because as of next week I am able to walk on to any car lot/dealership and purchase a vehicle without having to get it financed. Telling me I'm beyond behind and i haven't been keeping my account in good standing. I speak to my account manger via email Nico letting her know all that's going on. I made one payment because i kept getting pressured and then i told her i am still waiting on unemployment. How about Erika tells me today that because I am working a little i need to worry about my rent and car payment? Like wow really. She mentioned these are the two most important aspects of it all. I have thousands of dollars in medical debt that brings down my credit score so buying a car at a "normal" car dealer wasn't an option. When they finally did, my 30 days was already up so my "warranty" or as they called it "an IOU" had expired. Since owning this truck, the entire front end has had to be replaced. 2 months after purchasing it, my husband had to have the truck towed because he was on i55 and the steering went out! This location is absolutely trash do not buy your car from here. The finance department (JENNIFER AND KAYLA) do not know what they're doing and have horrible customer service. They never call you back because they're probably too scared to deal with you after they mess up your account and over charge you then promise you credits that never get applied to your future payments. But they are quick to email you back and LIE to you just to get you to stop calling them. I have written proof to show any REAL MANAGER reading this review if anyone at this location is feeling like working today and responding to their customers. They owe me money, but it's more of the principal. They claim to help people financially. How When you lie and refuse to give refunds to customers that are rightfully owed?! I bought a 2009 Jeep from them that had A/C issues that I discovered before I signed the paper work. They asked me to bring the Jeep back the following week for service that would be on them. 45 minutes after driving off their lot I found another issue, the speedometer dial was bouncing from 0-60 even when I wasn't moving. I brought the Jeep back on a Tuesday morning, dropped it off and got a call 2 hours later from Lisa claiming that they couldn't find anything wrong with it! LOL!! I told her to CHECK AGAIN! I also had video of it that I emailed to her! It then took them 24 hours to diagnose that it had a 'cluster' issue that was not only causing the AC to malfunction but the speedometer to go haywire. They called me Wednesday afternoon to tell me what the issue was and that they apparently had to order the part from a third party. It's the following MONDAY now and I just got a call from Lisa saying that the part they ordered was faulty and it's going to take another 24 hours to order a new part but she says the third party promises it'll be a good one this time and will be ready for me tomorrow, Tuesday, a week later.. So it took 72 hours the first time around to get the part, but this time around it takes 24 hours? I call BULL. I had a bad feeling about this place from the get go.. But I felt trapped because my credit is bad and I desperately needed a car. They know that you're desperate and they take such advantage of you. i went in here to buy a car, and i did, but let me just warn you about what they kind of gloss over...first, they don't really haggle, but they want top of the market for a car that is not at the top...but if you are at this place your credit doesn't leave you many options! but pay attention to the down payments and the car payments...they car payments are bi-weekly, not monthly , and they don't explain that in detail, so if they say your car payment is 300$...they mean every two weeks! and if you miss a payment they automatically repo the car and WILL NOT let you get it back! no way or how will you be able to get it back, so the down payment is lost, and all the monthly payments are lost, which is a great deal for them because if you pay $2000 down payments and have made 1200$ in car payments and then you miss one payment they repo the car and keep all that money, for for 3200 2 months of having the car they made 3200$ that is theirs, and you get nothing back, not a bad deal, because then they resell the car for the same price you paid for it!
