I followed a Facebook ad from marketplace. The car was listed as having no problems and the seller confirmed verbally. I test drove the car for about 20 mins and made payment and signed papers. After about a week, the vehicle developed a transmission issue and I documented it to show the seller including a missing gear shift lock button which only indicates prior work being done on the car. I towed the car back to the dealer who is refusing to refund my money but rather insist on fixing the car for me which isn't something I want to deal with. As a student I don't have the luxury or the resources to invest in the vehicle. Even though I insisted on not repairing it, he told me he can't give me back my money even if I report him to Donald Trump because he's been in the business for 16 years. My uncle and I wanted a resolution since he said he will fix it, he said he has a mechanic that will fix it in two days. Today is exactly one week and he's since blocked me even though the car is with him and I can only get a message to him through his brother. As a student that depend on a vehicle for daily commute, this has taken a toll on me. I've spent all my savings on Uber trying to get to school everyday but he doesn't care. I believe America is a fair and transparent country and people like him should not be allowed to be in business. He has since taken down the marketplace ad because it shows misleading advertising and information.

We found something we liked at Bill Leggett automotive through an online search and went to check it out. What we found was a car that had some very minor issues, but was overall in great shape and VERY fairly priced. It was under the Blue Book value, but still mechanically sound (my significant other knows quite a bit about the vehicle we were shopping for, and he knew what problems to look for). Our salesman, Kevin, was friendly, knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. We weren't able to buy that day, but he offered to come in on his day off to finalize the sale in a few days because he knew we were in a time crunch. Overall, we had a great buying experience. The business is rated well by the BBB, which we checked into before we went there. They have a smaller but quality collection of VERY reasonably priced cars, and we can't say enough about Kevin. We'd dealt with a few unlikeable salespeople during our car buying ordeal and we were really happy that we finally found one that we were comfortable with. He's clearly been doing this a while and he seems to really like what he does. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is that we weren't given dealer plates. We were told we could transfer the plates to our new car. This is technically not incorrect, but we weren't really familiar with the process and didn't realize that you can't transfer plates until you have the title, which might take a month to come in the mail. It's our fault for not doing our homework first, but we wish we were informed that we could not transfer the plates NOW. Aside from that, it was an excellent buying experience. If you're in the market, this place is definitely worth a look. I hope we won't have to be back here for several years, but we'll be back eventually. And we'll do our homework first. ;)

Before buying, I asked several questions over email about its condition and any possible mechanical issues. I was told, "Zero issues, very nice truck." Unfortunately, that was not true. On the drive home, the exhaust pipe past the muffler fell off. I also discovered problems with the front brakes and alignment. Additionally, the bumper was supposed to be replaced before I picked up the truck on May 31st--but it hadn't been. I was assured it would be delivered to me and installed by a local mechanic arranged through Travers Hughes. It took over a month before the bumper even arrived, with Travers blaming the eBay seller for the delay. When I found a local mechanic who could install it for $125, the bumper showed up without the correct brackets. On July 18th, I emailed Travers about the issue, and he replied that he would "contact them and get the correct parts and send you the $125 no problem." Today is August 21st. I still have not received the correct parts or the $125. My advice: Do not take their word for anything. Do not trust that Travers Hughes will follow through on his promises.
