Wonderful experience! I was visiting San Antonio and decided to do a little shopping on my trip. I was on the hunt for solid colored, thick, crewneck tees. Believe it or not solid crewnecks are hard to find! I do not like thin tees and JCrew was the only store I found that had decent tees. In addition to a few of their crewneck shirts I found a pie or shorts, and two pink sweaters. The sales associates were awesome! All the ladies working were helpful, polite and professional. I love J. Crew for various different reasons. This store especially because of the staff. I always go in looking for something specific, and Tucker sees eye to eye with me. He is very helpful and knowledgable. At first I thought he would just try and sell me anything but after a few times of him talking me out of a few items, I knew he wasn't. Yes this place is expensive, but the quality is superior to other stores. I was told they do personal shopping for free, but never have taken anyone up on that. read more

For men, hits the perfect sweet spot between fashion and price. So many timeless pieces, not just the latest trends. Staff has always been very friendly and responsive...many have been there for years and it's always nice to see them again. I wrote off J Crew many years ago after their prices sky rocketed. They used to be close to the Gap both in price and look, but one day the store seemed to get pretentious and annoying and triple their prices. A few weeks ago, I decided to give the store another try after seeing a wonderful top online. I am so glad I did. The sale section here for women is large and well organized. I found several items for less than $15 each and liked the feeling of not having buyers remorse after leaving the store with my purchases. I have also found the staff to be extremely helpful and kind. They also have a complimentary personal shopping service which I have yet to use but am intrigued by the concept. If you had written off J Crew like I did, I'd give it another try, if not for their sale goods. read more

I've been to this store about 6 or 7 times now. I love J.Crew clothing, and I'm a card member. This store, however, is underwhelming in its service of card members and sometimes has underwhelming service in general. One time, I went to go buy a blazer and pants for a wedding. I suggested that the salesperson make the free standard alterations (a card member perk) 3 times, but she said that it fit fine. I'm pretty savvy and particular about how I want my clothes to fit me, so I was frustrated by the salesperson's lack of willingness to help a card member. Another time, I went in wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt, and I shopped for about 20 minutes without a single salesperson saying a word to me. Luckily, nothing on the floor appealed to me that much, but I wish somebody would have at least spoken to me to try to help me find things online that may not be on the floor. I really wish I were back in my former city with their multiple great stores. I try to shop in stores as much as possible to help locations (and jobs) stay alive, but I've lost the will to keep this location alive. I'll only go into this store when I have to from now on. I guess that when I visit old friends, I can leave some room in my suitcase and shop at those stores in the old city that I am used to. read more

Was on my way back to my car after a hair appt today, and saw an outfit in the window that actually stopped me in my tracks. I was crunched for time and knew I didn't have time to shop, but I ducked inside quickly just to ask about the sweater, shirt, belt and necklace that were so beautifully put together. While pricey, I could maybe imagine purchasing all the pieces with the exception of the coral-colored sweater- cashmere of course, and over $150! Maaaybe not. A very nice salesman (about 5'9" maybe? brown hair, was wearing some vintage-looking boots) came over and noticed me drooling, and offered to help me find a cheaper alternative. The peach merino sweater he offered was not as beautiful, but I appreciated his enthusiasm and genuine helpfulness, and I might come back for the ensemble! He also told me about J Crew's personal shopping service- just call them ahead of time and they will have outfits waiting when you arrive based on the looks you're going for, and it's totally free with no obligation to buy! AWESOME! Will definitely be taking advantage of this some day when I have more time. Would give them 5 stars, but their clothes are just that much out of my comfortable price range :( read more

I love Tucker and Bernie! I come in for the sizes 12 and 14 and they make it happen, in a size 0 world no less! They are the best personal shoppers in the business. I've been a fan of J Crew because I dig the style and the service of the store. I will admit some of their items can be pricey especially their t-shirts. I like the La Cantera location because it carries there children's line called Crew Cuts. They do have complementary style service which I haven't checked out yet. J Crew also gives educator discounts. read more

I went into the store to return some items that I bought online. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that they charged me for the returned items instead of returning them!! I got home and realized the mistake. I called the store and they were able to fix the mistake over the phone. Very helpful! read more

I recommend you shop online. You will have a better experience. Something to be said when your the only game in town. It leads to poor service and entitlement attitude. Online is definitely the way to go or just walk across the street to Madewell where they have awesome clothes and great service. read more

Pretty bad experience today at JCrew La Cantera - all around poor customer service. First off, (and understandably out of their control) the electricity to part of the shopping center was out. Other stores affected by the outage either allowed people to browse, or put a sales associate or two outside the front doors to explain they the shop was closed due to the outage. What did J.Crew do? They put someone standing on the *inside* of the darkened store, back to the door, engaged in conversation with employees inside and had her speak through the crack in the locked door that they were closed. Hard to understand and see the sale associate. Made me feel like I was intruding on a private lunchtime pow-wow. Then, after all the other stores opened, J.Crew was closed an hour longer. Why? Who knows - associates weren't offering any information. Finally, after waiting two hours, i went in. A sales lady promptly offered help and that was appreciated, as i did have some questions about finding specific items and pricing. The associate first gave inaccurate information about the products themselves - which I overlooked as annoying that I knew more about the product than the sales person, but didn't point out. What bothered me WAY MORE was the inability of the sales lady to articulate a straight answer to my question: "Can you honor the lowest price available today, in this store, for item X, which is currently on sale, with an additional % off, online. If not, I'll order it online." After telling me that all sale items available for additional discount were grouped in one area of the store ONLY, I pointed out several items around the store that were on sale online, but not sitting in the store's grouped sale area, and asked why that was, and if they qualified for the add'l % off. She waved the question of unmarked sale items away and repeated her previous explanation. She grew increasingly agitated when I pointed out the fallacy in what she was saying and began repeating herself endlessly asking, "Do you understand? Am I making sense to you?" while getting increasingly testy, as visible in her body language and tone of voice. After several rounds of this, I was pretty frustrated by not getting a straight answer, and put off by the stubbornness of the girl in wanting to explain her point of view to me rather than actually answer the question. All I needed was a simple yes-or-no answer - I didn't have time to waste, but she succeeded in wasting my time anyway! I left highly irritated at being condescended toand empty handed and will not shop at this location again. I also wrote to JCrew about the incident. If the company expects to charge too much $$$ for a shirt, it better come with better service than what I experienced today. And to the associate in question: learn to listen! read more

I've never shopped here before because the prices are so high. I finally came in to see their holiday sale to buy a gift. I was surprised and pleased that they had such good promotions going on. What really blew me away was their customer service. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and more than willing to help me find a suitable gift. They even do student discounts! Pat was great, he suggested a few items and instantly understood the style I was going for. There was some confusion over the price of the item I wanted, but ultimately I got an excellent price for it.I don't know the name of the cashier, but he was beyond helpful with the promotion.I really love going to a store where the employees are actually happy to help you. read more

Horrible customer service. We were there the day after Christmas for sales. As it turns out there was an additional sale that had just begun that the salespeople had just found out about. So I asked them to please look up the current prices of a few pairs of socks. The gentleman said he would. I was about 3 feet from the register as I watched him help customer after customer without getting back to me on the prices. I walked up and asked him if he had those prices and he said, "Oh, I forgot". I waited. More customers. I then asked again, "So?" He said, "I'm with customers" I reminded him, "Well, I'm a customer too, and was here before all of these people you've been helping". His manager looked at him and rolled her eyes. As we were finally checking out, the two salespeople behind the counter were giddy over the secret sale and about how many socks they had put aside. No wonder the selection was so slim--they had amassed a huge pile, maybe 20 pairs, behind the counter for themselves! Not cool. Especially gloating about it in front of paying customers who had to settle for your leftovers. Why would I shop at a place with boring colors and selection, bad customer service, and high prices except when they have big discounts which we can't even get for ourselves?!
