Took advantage of an 80 plus woman. When she passed way, I went to her house and saw this. They said it needed special chemicals but couldn't do it until autumn. It also had a bad leak. I have them 2 months to fix the issue but it got worse.. when I tried to talk to them again, they said that was then and this is now. Still making me pay the money. Requested service, the pool guy came out looked at the pool, says he balanced it, said there was no vacuum (there was a hand one, no automatic), did not clean, skim or take care of anything. The baskets were still full, and then they tried to sell us an automatic vacuum. Quoted us $675 for vacuum and $690 for tile cleaning. We cleaned the pool ourselves and then were charged $150 for the guy coming out. Would not recommend them. read more

I've worked with J & S on two separate occasions. Both times they were timely, the work was done correctly and on budget, as promised. Josh, the technician, was polite very efficient and my pool and yard were left spotless. They cleaned my tile and my pool looks brand new. Josh cleaned my filter and all my pool equipment was wiped down. and the surrounding area was left better than he found it. These guys are efficient, honest and a pleasure work with. I emailed about this issue and to be reimbursed, because clearly our pool was not being cleaned, the receptionist (rudely) insisted that our guy comes every week to keep our pool well maintained. When I sent her this picture asking her to explain, there was no response. I then sent a follow up email canceling our service, and the only response was paperwork for me to sign to cancel. I spoke to someone in the office last Tuesday about starting service with them on our new pool. The lady gave me a price of $145/mo and said someone would be out Thursday to take a look at it. No one ever showed. I called them today, Monday, and another lady tells me the route is all booked up and they have no availability to service my pool. I get that you're busy, and I'm happy for you, but have some common courtesy and don't waste other people's time. Someday you may not be so busy if you keep up the poor customer service. We have had J&S pool service for our pool for years. There have been good experiences and not so good, but I think that is with every business. We have looked at their prices compared to others and they do work with us to give us the best price for the service we need. There have been times I thought the pool guy could do a little better as far as sweeping the pool and getting rid of the waste in the vacuum and to be honest, it has gotten better recently since we refinished our pool and got new tile. So far we love the remodel and it has been kept up nicely since, so hopefully that continues and we have a great service here on out. I do see what people say about communication with someone coming out or not coming out, and service, but I think overall they do a pretty good job. read more

Finding a good pool service can seem so hard these days. If you're considering J&S Pools, well... look further. After my previous pool service went under, there was an interim where i was shopping around for a new company. Through google i found J&S, and called them. I was looking for some basic maintenance/repairs, an overall inspection and monthly maintenance. I apologize if this is a long read. They sent out a tech, and he looked at the pool, but couldn't really offer much. He said he would have to consult with his boss as he wasn't familiar with the system. He did note some basic maintenance to be done. Cue 125$ bill. Ok, that's fine, lets get that done and get things going. They sent out another tech, and he was able to give a more in depth breakdown of what needed to be done, and how to restore the pool to its former efficiency. Great. Cue 125$ more. Per my request, they also sent a tech out to look at my hot tub, as it was failing to go above 90 degrees. After looking at it, he said a part would need to be replaced. Cue 125 or so for that inspection. At this point, i was now out of the country and the responsibility of maintaining the house was transferred to my roommate. He relayed to me that on five different occasions, noone from J&S showed up on scheduled dates, and when he talked to them over the phone, they either made excuses or rescheduled. All the while, they're sending bills. What they were/are doing is a shady business tactic in which companies rack up fees for inspections, then back out of actually doing any labor. In this way they are able to collect large fees and huge rates without actually doing any work - their techs probably spent a total of 30-45 minutes at my house, and they were sending me bills for 360$. On one of the bills, in a note, it actually said "pool is trashed"... Wow. In this way they are able to rack up billing for extremely minimal time and virtually no work and stick the money into their profits. They claimed work they didn't actually do, were combative over the phone when discussing the bill, and as mentioned earlier went AWOL when it came time for labor. Oh, and the hot tub that needed a new part? I had mentioned to the tech that the water intake looked a little clogged and asked him if that might be the problem. He said no. A few days later i went over it with a pole brush and voila, the hot tub was able to heat up to 104. I had just figured it must be a bad part because it's so old... go figure. I spoke to one of their employees today, and relayed that i would not be paying them 360. After some pointless arguing, which i really tried to avoid taking part in, she offered to take a whopping 25$ off of the bill of 360$. I wasn't interested. She said she'd be forced to send the bill to collections - which is fine by me (she didn't like that!). My credit can take the hit if it even comes to that; mainly, I'm not interested in being taken advantage of. I'll probably just settle the bill with whatever collections agency they go to for a fraction of what it is now. Tl;dr - avoid Also, note. I did manage to find a good pool guy - the pool is sparkling clear, i pay 100/mo, and the maintenance he had to do on the pump systems and other systems was so minimal he didnt even charge me for it- just included it in the monthly. If you're looking for someone with integrity, just keep searching, they're out there. read more

Terrible customer service, we thought we'd continue service since the previous owners used them & they've done nothing but grow algae. I had to contact them concerned about the pool, even though we pay for weekly service. Then they said it needed to be drained. Took them 6 days to come drain, then asked me to fill it up and put chlorine in until they could get to it a week later. What in the world am I paying them for?? I will be canceling our service. Wow! Building a pool can be very intense and exhausting. The design of my pool was way overpowered. I have a lazy river on one side of my pool. It was a brilliant idea, but I have always been kind of disappointed with the outcome. Definitely not what I was expecting. I really tried to be happy with it, but just was not satisfied. J&S pools does the warranty work for a large pool contractor, who I am also very happy with, and they were insistent on making things right. It took them longer than expected, which was out of their control for the most part. But, here I am now 1 year removed from my pool completion and my lazy river is like a waterpark! They had to change out both pumps and re-do the 4 inch plumbing to make the flow more forceful. Michael Phelps couldn't swim up stream in this lane even if he was going for gold. We were a customer of J and S for more than a decade but recently cancelled them. For 8 months our pool was never clean even after weekly service. Years ago, they advertised a solar powered pool and I was the first one who purchased the system from them. 6 months ago the system stopped powering the pool sweep. I called and called to get it fixed but they kept saying they no longer had a supplier to fix it. My pool was so dirty it couldn't be used. The weekly service guy came every week and sat in his truck for over 45 minutes. He spent more time in his truck than servicing my pool. No one would return my calls. I finally drove to the shop to talk to a manager and they said there was nothing they could do about fixing my solar pool system that they sold me. I had to go back to an electrically-powered system and they charged me $2000 for it. Even after that the weekly service guy wouldn't keep the pool clean. I am loyal but this was ridiculous and not how a long term customer should be treated. I cancelled after finding a pool company who services my neighbor. My new pool company would have charged me $600 less for the new system. Now my pool looks great and is clean. Don't use J and S. Since the original owners retired, the company has gone way down hill. read more

We (my wife) ordered a new spa on Wayfair, 230v hook up which we hired an election to do. We put the hose in, turned on the water, waited 2 hours; then... nothing! The control panel lights came on but the pump wouldn't. Got a "flow" error. I checked underneath to make sure it wasn't anything obvious but saw nothing that I could tell. I tried calling the spa manufacturer a few times but kept being put on hold for too long. I called J&S in the afternoon and a technician showed up the next morning. Long story short Josh quickly diagnosed that the 50 amp breaker in the box on the house was hooked up wrong! Woohoo, happy wife! Josh was very friendly and professional and I would not hesitate to call J&S in the future. read more

I have used J and S Pools ever since we put our pool in 12 years ago. I have been very pleased with the service I have received. Just this past week I had an issue with my Polaris pool vacuum. Brian was able to troubleshoot the problem over the phone. It turned out to be a quick fix (I cleaned out the filter screen) and the vacuum performs like new. It didn't cost me anything and Brian was willing to take the time to work through my options. That's what keeps me coming back. read more

One star is far too generous. If J&S services your pool as they did mine, you will have an embarrassingly filthy pool with grit along the bottom and cloudy water. They will not vacuum , sweep, empty the baskets or change the filters, even after they sell you their "premium" service at the top rate. Don't expect the tech to spend longer than three minutes in your back yard or answer any questions. Please don't call their customer service people unless you enjoy rudeness, having your feedback dismissed, and told that your dirty pool is not their fault. But hopefully, you will get the chance to laugh, as I have, when your new pool tech pulls a dirty bathing suit out of one of your baskets - which was clogging the system for who knows how long. Then you can joke about what a lousy pool cleaning service J&S provides. Instead of having your friends and neighbors laugh about your dirty pool. If their customer service is any indication, I expect someone from J&S to respond by denying my experience and saying this is not typical of their company. But from reading other reviews, it looks like my experience was very typical - except maybe for the dirty bathing suit that was left in one of my baskets. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service and lack of care about the job they are paid to do. They tell you they will call you back, check the status, and nothing. They could care less!!! After we bought our house the hot tub heater went out and we used our home warranty to get it repaired. J&S sent out a technician and he looked at it and left without saying anything to us. Just drove off. We figured he was getting parts, but when he never returned we called the office numerous times and were told we could get a call back, they would check status, and of course NOTHING! Finally about 3 weeks later he showed up again and fixed it. We did not really need it at the time so we did not worry about it too much. Then a few months ago we were having 3 consecutive house parties for the kids and us and we saw the heater was again broken. Used the home warranty and groaned when we saw J&S was chosen to come back out. And again the technician was working on it, I went inside for 5 minutes and came out and he was gone. Again, not a single word. I immediately called the office and told them how ridiculous this way. We had 2 weeks (yes 14 days) until the parties started. They never came back. I called every 3-4 days and was always told that he would return and nothing. We were unable to use the spa all three weekends. The kids were incredible bummed as part of their fun is soaking in the spa and jumping into the freezing pool. Sigh. I finally called my warranty company and just cashed it out and paid my normal pool guy Gordon at Tropical Paradise Pool and Spa to fix it and he had it done in no time. J&S had told the warranty company they were replacing the entire heating unit, so they could charge the $400, but all they were doing was waiting on parts to fix the other one. What a scam. Terrible company, terrible service, terrible everything. Stay far far away from these people if you actually want work done well and in a timely manner. *****And when you see 5 star reviews for this company check how many reviews the person has left before. The pool service technician Robert is the greatest, but the office personnel could careless about customers! Been a customer for 5 years and all of sudden change my service schedule. Explain my spouse works nights at CRMC, with the set schedule makes it very hard to change dates. I ask it we could work something out for the both of us, but they basically said F you and your business doesn't matter! After disrespect from Carly and Tammy and owner Jim, Jim decided it was best we stop working together we told him that's fine because honestly the company just takes more and more money with no results, so we cancel our association with the company then two hours later they send a cleaner saying Jim sent him down. If I could give 0 stars, I would. J &S came out to repair a Hayward pool cell under warranty. I followed the process the Hayward technician instructed, verifying I had done so when I called the J & S receptionist. When J & S came out, the repairman needed extra paperwork that I hadn't been told was needed. He said, agitated: "I'll give you 15 minutes." When I scrambled to call Hayward (who wasn't open since it was 7 am), the J & S repairman told me I had wasted 45 minutes of his time. He stormed off angrily. Some other comments he made: -"You shouldn't be buying things online. I tell my wife that, too." -"If I don't have the paperwork, I'm out $625." This is the worst customer service I've ever received. I was badgered and "lectured" in my own back yard at 7am. If the customer asks a business if anything else is needed before a technician arrives and is told "no," then the business should quickly apologize for the miscommunication and inconvenience and reschedule. Poor communication aside, the technician's behavior was unprofessional, immature, and rude. Update: The problem is not that we could not provide proof of purchase; it was that when I asked J & S the previous day if anything else would be needed I was told no. However, their response was to place blame on the customer and Hayward for not having proof of purchase present at 7am. I do have proof of purchase and would have had it present had J & S told me it was needed when I asked them. There is no excuse for rudeness. read more

J&S was contacted to obtain a bid to do a pool repair. The technician who came out was rude and said they would get me a quote that day. I never heard back from them; then to make matters worse I started getting invoices from them for a service they never delivered and was not told would be charged. I called them several times to ask that they stop invoicing me but they persisted and finally turned the bogus account over to a collection company. This was my first experience with J&S Pools. My filter cracked and had to be replaced. I notified my home warranty and J&S was quick to respond once they were assigned to my claim. They were courteous and they showed up on time, even giving me a call to let me know they were on their way. When the part arrived (ahead of schedule), Ken (technician) showed up and he was awesome. He made sure the installation was perfect, making sure there were no leaks and everything worked properly. I highly recommend J&S and will let my friends and family know how they operate. This pool builder/supplier is awesome! Although they did not build my pool, they have helped us out with our pool supply needs over the past couple of years. When you walk into their office, you instantly feel at home. The staff went "above and beyond" to get me the correct equipment for my pool. They were all very very friendly and professional. Let me start by saying, I had encounters with 5 different employees from J&S Pools. Carly, in the main office, was nice and friendly, and helpful. No problems there. Matt, one of the servicemen that came out to install a pump that I had warranty work done on was good as well. Friendly, on time, courteous, and knew what he was doing. 2 other service techs, they admittedly didn't really know what they were doing, and didn't know anything about the cost of the repairs they came to estimate, but they were able to remove the part of my motor that needed to be replaced and went on their merry way. THE OWNER, however, I believe his name is Jim. This guy was the farthest thing from professional I have ever experienced. My Hayward Variable Speed pump stopped working and I called Hayward and they told me that J&S was an authorized warranty provider. I called and scheduled an appointment with Carly to have the above mentioned 2 unnamed service men come to look at my pump. I confirmed with Carly that if this was a warranty issue there would be no cost to me. It was deemed that the motor was burnt out and needed to be replaced. Seeing as how the pump was less than one year old, it was under warranty and there should have been no charge. They took the pump and let me know that a new one would be brought out and installed and should be free as it is under warranty. A few days later, Matt (technician) came and installed the new pump and I confirmed that the pump got warrantied out and there was no charge. I assumed this was the end of my interaction with J&S and to this point everyone had been nice and helpful and I would be using J&S forever. Imagine my surprise when 2 weeks later I receive a bill for nearly $100 ($96 I believe) for the service call to install my new pump. Rather than call, I visit the store in person and was greeted by Jim. When I told him who I was, he knew the situation (pump burnt out and got warranties) right away. I mentioned that I had no idea why I was receiving a bill for this service as I was told multiple times that it would be no cost. Jim told me that they were unable to get paid for the repair by Hayward as the pump had no serial number on it and they could not verify the warranty, therefore I had to pay the standard service charge. I asked why I was getting charged when I was told multiple times that I would not be charged a thing. My problem is not that I am being charged because if that is the case that my pump was no longer under warranty then I would have taken that up with Hayward, but the fact that you had 2 different opportunities after the initial service call to tell me there would be charges and you never bothered to mention it. Jim immediately got irate and threw my copy of the bill at me and said, "fine I'll take care of it, it's gone. You can leave now" After discussing this with Jim for approximately 5 minutes I was able to DRAG out of him that all I needed to do was provide the serial number and they would be able to get their money for the service from Hayward. So I got Jim's email, went home, and sure enough in 2 different places on my pump were very large font stamped serial numbers that clearly none of the technicians ever bothered to look for. I sent a picture of them to Jim, even though that should not have been my responsibility. I went out of my way to treat them right, and needless to say, Jim was one of the worst interactions I have ever had. I will NEVER use J&S again and I advise you all to stay away as well. read more
