October 2024 My…read morehome has a 40 yr old concrete septic tank, so bear this in mind (it's old!). I had a leak on the outlet side wall and a previous contractor tried to patch it, but it never stopped. This had been going on for some time, but steadily got worse. I was thinking I had no choice except to go ahead and bite the bullet now to replace the tank, a big job for sure. Also to note, a prior septic contractor failed about a week earlier to patch the tank, more $$ spent, so I thought hope was lost as far as repair efforts were concerned. I started calling around to get bids on tank replacement and found Rocklyn Septic Services, among a few on Angies List. I met Barron W. and right away found him competent and someone I thought I might be able to trust. Barron came out promptly and on time to inspect the tank (on a Friday). He provided hope that maybe it could be repaired. He noticed the 4" TEE was oddly positioned and cut it off. That allowed about 2" water level drop which may have helped to reduce tank water pressure above the leak. Barron then came out on Monday with some bags of concrete and was able to patch the wall successfully in less than 30 minutes. As a result, I can now wait until next spring to replace the tank if I wish as the leak is gone, grass is dry! Barron even promised if the leak returned, he would apply the cost of the repair to the tank replacement. I'm good to go for now! Barron's attention to detail, his great communication and his committment to customer service is why I will hire him for the big job next year to replace my tank. Thank you sir for your service!

Anyway, this morning at about 10:30, he called to ask if it was alright if he started heading this way (of course! ). He got here shortly before 11:30am and got the job done (also had us flush our toilets to make sure there was no blockage - the last people who pumped our tank did not have us do this) as well as giving us a recommendation for a guy that could straighten a pipe that needs fixing and replace the deteriorating covers to our tank. The guy came out but brought out a truck too big, I'm guessing this could have been fixed that day but the guy that came out admitted to not wanting to work because of the Texas game! If they didn't want to work on an important day to them, why waste peoples time?! My mom being nice, understood and rescheduled for Monday. The guy came in at 630 (unbeknownst to me that they make calls that early) so I questioned why he was there so early. The guy never once looked me in the face and told me, "yall find someone else". Literally left speechless because I wasn't rude, just unsure of what was going on. A conversation could've been had but the emotional man didn't care! We have 2 septics on the property and I will NEVER call him out again. Too bad he was recommended by our septic guys who check it out yearly. My grandfather mentioned that the guy that came from Anytime septic had noticed that their septic pump switch had been turned off that Saturday, when Eric first came out. He didn't even work on the septic, so unsure why he did that! Had it continued to go unnoticed, this could have caused further damage. My brother also noticed the same size truck Eric brought Saturday was also the same truck he brought that Monday. That just goes to show you he didn't want to help us. Our most recent experience, Joseph, was great!! Called ahead, was very friendly, and explained everything really well. He even offered to show me the part that went bad when I asked about the life expectancy of these pumps, since we have paid for repair and replacement about every 3-4 years. You just have to know that these systems need regular maintenance and being that they run 24/7, parts go bad. In this case, a rubber flap called a diaphragm.

Needed my septic pumped & called Bulldog after finding their company on Yelp. I read a negative…read morepost about them charging more from the phone quote to the in-person price because they had to dig septic tank cover off. I clearly described access to my tank and they were able to quote the same over the telephone & in-person price. I found the 2 techs friendly & they provided good info on system maintenance. They neatly put back the little bit of grass around the tank lid they had to remove to access the lid. Also...I would ignore that other guy with the negative review about price change. If your tank lid is buried, & significant effort has to go into just accessing the lid before any pump out work can be done & you don't tell Bulldog that, then charging more for the time & to dig it out is reasonable. I will use Bulldog for my future septic pump out needs.

I had my septic tank pumped. They did a good job, but they severely under-quoted me how much it…read morewould cost. I was quoted $425 plus a "possible $100 digging charge if they have to dig more than 12 inches down". So my family and I went out there and dug out one whole opening, about 11" down. Turns out they need 2 openings, plus they changed their digging charge policy. According to the receptionist, the policy just changed to "If they have to dig at all, it's $100". So just be aware. $100 to dig a few scoops of dirt SEEMS high to me, but what do I know. My average sized home has a 1,250 gal. tank, and apparently such a tank can hold 1500 gallons, because they charged me $150 more for 500 extra gallons pumped. So all in all, I paid $675 when I expected to pay $425. A bit of a sticker shock. Would I recommend them? Maybe, but just know that they under-quote you. I paid over 50% more than I expected. You WILL have to add the $100 digging fee, and unless you're living in a 1 bedroom trailer, your tank will be more than the $425 standard fee for "up to 1,000 gallons". I'm not going to be ridiculous and give them 1 star or some nonsense. They get 3 stars. They did a good job on the pumping. But I honestly think the owner(s) have a lot to learn about business, customer service, and human psychology. Who likes to pay more than they expected? If you need more than $425 for a pumping, just raise your price. But don't play games. $100 for a bit of digging is ridiculous. Don't hold out hope a person can escape that massive charge, if you want that $100 every time you come out. Just be up-front about how much you want for your service.
