It's like walking into a small botanic garden. They have an unbelievable collection of pleurothallids, but really, you can find just about whatever you need. Supplies, yep. Advice, encyclopedic proportions. Looking for something rare, drop your email. For real though, clean and healthy plants, vigorous and floriferous. December, so many Masdevallias in bloom. Go, buy, grow.

I have been impressed with every orchid I have received from them.

First time visiting this amazing farmland with entertainment and J J Stacks food truck!! Ice cream…read moreand a farm stand too!

It's Labor Day 2024 and I had been seeing on social media at Shortt's Ice cream at Shortt's Farm…read more Im not sure how long they have been offering ice cream. Previous reviews are very old so I assume this is a new thing. There were two young people working and I don't think management expected the crowd. The young man kept taking orders but not helping to fill any. Then Im not quite sure he showed his co worker our order for two sundaes. I asked him about it after six orders for milkshakes taken after our orders were completed. He told me they are working on it. Finally, I had to stop the girl handing out milkshakes Then the young guy couldn't tell him where he wrote our order. So to save some time we gave our orders again. Shortt's has amazingly good ice cream. They just need management to get with their team and get a better system for larger groups. I noticed an important miss they were not taking names. After we had our sundaes I would hear them yell out chocolate milk shake or oreo milkshake and a few people saying thats me. Im sure Shortt's will have lots of continued customers once they get a better system for crowds in place. The ice cream is worth it.

Rarely in my travels have I met a business owner with more integrity and genuine interest in…read morehelping out a customer than the owner of Earth First Nursery. I used to live in the area years ago when the nursery was named Wakeman's and preferred that name. When talking with Dave Benjamin, the owner, it doesn't take long to appreciate his knowledge base. This is the type of business I like to go to where not only do you get a great product but you can tap into expert advice. When I was in Connecticut I'd snap a photo of the area of my yard, give Dave a general description of what I was hoping for then ask his advice - Dave would usually suggest something far better than I had in mind. He has saved me numerous times from planting in the wrong area and was always willing to provide pragmatic, spot-on advice whenever I had a problem with a plant. Just like Beata E. I had a problem with some blueberry bushes in one portion of my yard but not another, Dave asked about the soil pH, I checked and he was right -- where the bushes thrived it was the right pH but was too high where the plants had issues. He advised how to correct it, I followed his advice and, no surprise, it worked. He seems to really love helping and when I stopped by sometime later, he asked how my blueberry plants were doing - and seemed to really care. This is not a Home Depot or Walmart type place where you just buy a plant, I consider Earth First as a resource where you benefit from their knowledge and experience. I think Dave said his father used to own the business and that he went to college for a degree in horticulture to work at his father's nursery - pretty impressive. Now that I've moved and am living in California, I'm hoping to find the Wakeman's equivalent out here. (btw, I don't think there are new owners, just a different name)

Owned by long term, highly experienced gardener! Well worth the stop to see a full range of…read morepossible plantings. Ask for Dave.

Stunning flowers and vegetables! I can't wait to go back to pick up my veggies. I'm going to wait…read moreuntil next weekend because it's a mad house on mother day weekend! They always have such a plentiful wide variety of all kinds of flowers and vegetables in seedling packs. Most veggies come in 6 packs and some are in 4 packs. For 2.99 it's such a steal! Not only do I value the variety but the quality of these plants are amazing. I come here every year and I have never been disappointed. There are so many kinds of tomatoes it's unbelievable! I love getting the beefsteak, cherry, and grape tomatoes. The hybrid tomatoes do outstanding as well. Not only do these plants thrive when planted they are so beautiful and bountiful! I couldn't imagine going anywhere else for my tomatoes! I bought geraniums for my great grandmother for her birthday. They have so many beautiful colors and for a great price at only 4.99 each! They usually come with 2 plants per pack with loads of buds. She loves the pink colors as she always told me they used to only have red and white. Every year she requests them from her favorite garden store. They didn't have the largest selection when I went but I'm sure they restocked for Mother's Day. Overall, I highly recommend supporting this local business my family has been coming here for generations and will continue to do so! Absolutely always a 5 star visit coming to tree land!

I came to pick out a real Christmas pine tree. Since I've been here so many times before (I know…read morethe drill) so I walked over to the trees & began browsing. This year the biggest tree they had was 8ft. which was surprising. They usually have taller trees & more of a selection. I did love the price! It was very affordable to me! The young man who helped us was pleasant & talkative. The woman @counter was nice & friendly to me. Overall,it was a simple, warm,& positive experience even w/ the smaller selection than last year.
