In a recent phone call home, my mother mentioned to me that her dryer had died on her, thus requiring her to go to a laundromat. I did some research on this (price to repair vs. buy a new one, namely) and decided that the best course of action was to hire someone to come out and take a look at it and hopefully repair it. I reached out to a few companies on Yelp, but ultimately landed on J&J Repair. The man I spoke with on the phone was incredibly nice and was able to come out the very next day to take care of things. He also offered a reasonable price that included his service fee, labor, and the parts needed for the repair. The repairman just left my mom's house and was able to get the job done quickly and efficiently. His quote was accurate and there were no sneaky fees. As an added bonus, he was able to accept payment via credit card. The dryer is once again in working order thanks to the fine folks at J&J Repair! My mother has even lined up an appointment to have her garbage disposal looked at in a few weeks. This was a great experience and we look forward to doing business with them in the future. read more

We called on a Saturday to get our oven repaired, the technician was on site at 9 am Monday morning. Diagnosed the problem and had it up and working in a half hour. We paid what he quoted on the phone and was kind and efficient. We would highly recommend them. read more

Technician told me my AC unit was unable to be repaired. I asked him to at least clean it. He told me he cleaned it, charged me over $100 but didn't even break out a hose. I had another technician came out who got me up and running for less. He also confirmed that J&J did absolutely nothing to clean my condenser. read more

Came to our house to fix the refrigerator ice maker, he took out a perfectly working part and still didn't fix the issue. Charged $300 after quoting us $250 and took off without fixing it. He blamed it all on the water filter without replacing it. We will never recommend or call him again. read more

We were very disappointed with this company he came and attempted to fixed our washer. he claim that it was the pump. He went ahead and replaced the pump. It took him good two hours and then he said it was ready charged us $400.00 and he left. Four days later I'm ready to do laundry and I put the first load in the washer and the machine is still doing exactly the same as it was before he came and replaced the pump, not moving!! We call him and explained the situation! He told us he will come back to check it out. Two days later When he came , first he implied that we broke the washer again , we told him that we did not used the washer at all, that it was the first time after he "fixed it" He just looked at us as if we were lying. He open the washer and check inside and after an hour of him working on the machine. He put it together again. And nothing! He was not able to fixed the washer. It was doing exactly the same as the very first time it turns on but dies not move! He told me to call someone that knows this brand better, That he did not knew how to fixed it. I told him , well what about the money we paid you? And he said oh no I can't reimburse none of that. I said but you charged me $400.00 to fixed the washer and the washer is not fixed. He said yea well I understand is frustrating but I can't reimburse the money because I replaced the pump. I said yea you replaced the pump , but obviously that was not the problem. Sorry there is nothing I can do and he left. Very very unethical! So now Im out of $400.00 and with a broken washer. I will not recommend this guys to nobody! read more

I am an out of state landlord and had a very crabby tenant with a water leak and washer issue in Bolingbrook and two competitors wouldn't even take my call because I was out of state. I called J&J Repair and spoke to John who assured me that he could help. He was friendly, professional and bent over backwards to move his schedule around to accommodate my tenant. He told me he'd call me if the repair exceeded the cost of buying a new washer which I appreciated. Turns out he was able to fix everything same day for a very reasonable price. On our original call I had asked him to please email me a copy of the invoice which he promptly sent the following day. A+ transaction all the way around. Based on reviews I had picked him to repair my refrigerator he charged lot of money to repair it and within a year the refrigerator died it is a nightmare when your fridge stops working in 90* weather I tried calling him left a message not even a courtesy to return phone call , will never use him nor recommend him to any one If you get work done by him it won't last long looks like he uses used part not genuine at all. We had our refrigerator stop cooling. I looked at GE's website for a service call and it would have been 4 days to get a repair. I called J&J at 7:30am and John scheduled it for that day at 10am! He showed up on time (with only an hour window of time instead of the usual 4!) and, after diagnosing the problem (and defrosting the freezer), had it repaired in less than 2 hours. He showed up on short notice-same day he came for the repair of my inducer motor on my heater. Was happy with punctuality and he had the part in stock which was very convenient. Only down side was the pricing. After looking up the parts online, there was a significant up-charge. Charging me around $300 for a $150 inducer motor assembly, and $65 for a $20 igniter. Recently used J&J repair for some electrical repair that was needed. We wanted to get a couple quotes so we called J&J repair and a bigger type company, technician came out from the bigger company and quoted us an outrageous price, and couldn't fix problem until the next day. J&J repair came out gave us a much different price and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. I had a problem with a bathroom fan and based on reviews called John for assistance. He was slightly condescending on the phone but I gave him the benefit of the doubt (again based on reviews). John came as scheduled and quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem. He did make a rude comment that my husband should never again work on my home or car which was completely uncalled for and off base. More of a problem to me was his lack of clean up. I have never had a contractor or handyman not at least partially clean up the debris caused by the work they completed. This was a quick house call (less than 1 hour) and was $185. I do not think an attempt at clean up would have been too much to ask. At the end of the day, the work is done so I'll give 3 stars but would not call this business again or recommend them to a friend. read more

Our AC went out soon after buying our home in the summer of 2016. We remembered seeing a J & J sticker on our washer so we decided to give him a call. John was there the same day to fix it. He also cleaned it for us without even asking. When we had an issue yesterday with our wiring, he was the first to come to mind after having such a great experience previously. i found J&J here and was impressed by their reviews after the other place I called didn't show when expected. Called them and someone showed up immediately, found the problem, repaired, tested, and told us what we should be doing to maintain it. From the time we called until the time he left was under an hour. I was happy with the price of the repair as the other company would have charged me nearly $100 just to show up. These reviews were too good to be true so I tried J&J . Now, I have to join the Greek Chorus singing his praises. Called John on Tuesday after Labor Day. He came Thursday on time early in the window he gave. He was quick, efficient, competent, helpful, personable, etc. He even insisted that I keep my music playing as he also liked Roy Orbison. The job was DW installation of a new Bosch Ascenta. I have to admit that he did look at the installation instructions, but it was cursory just to reassure himself. He services many products which have numerous makes and models. We would call him again in a Plainfield minute for any job in his repertoire. I'm a fan now, not a doubter. If I still were, he'd fix my fan anyway. BTW, his cost was reasonable and competitive but his effort is exceptional. read more

I am really torn on this company and my service call. I have had an issue with our kitchen outlets not working for a couple months. We had an electrician switch the outlets and then the first thing we plugged in sparks shot out like crazy and they blew. We called J & J to have it looked at because we had a few issues identified during out home inspection (the house was bought a little over a year ago) and thought one of those problems now needed to be resolved. J & J came out and it ended up just being a blow fuse so we just had to flip a switch, plug something in and make sure it didn't blow again. Here is where I get torn. The problem is solved, Yay, but they charged me $85 (yes that is correct), to come out for less than a 5 minute call and to flip a switch and test it. I totally understand that they came out for a service call, which prevented them from helping another customer and I'm the idiot that didn't check my fuse box before calling. But if you are going to use this company, make sure you are prepared to pay for 1 hour of labor even if they are there for one minute. Overall they are probably a great company, but I will not use them again because they do not see the value is cutting small breaks for something this simple. Charging me half of the labor would have solidified my decision to use they for all other electrical issues, but never again. read more

I called J & J for an oven repair. They came while I was at work and 2 of my young adult children were there. They charged $80 and left my oven in pieces so not even the burners would work. They did not give a receipt or tell me what was wrong. They said it would cost $280 to repair the oven. They did come back the next day and put the oven back together after I called and complained.
