I had a problem with my air conditioner today. I returned home to a warm house with just the blower going. Of course the temperature is about 86 degrees. I called at 4:00pm and by 6:00pm the Tech Dan was at my door. He was professional and explained every step of the way. Thankfully it wasn't anything much wrong. I have used their services prior and was impressed with how they never try to sell you a service that you don't need. My trip was a total of $85.00 for basic service but I am now cool and refreshed. Please don't ever use them because they Took advantage of the elderly. I have pancreatic cancer, so I'm stuck in my house, so when my air stopped working in 90+ degree weather they knew I had no choice. I had a $39 coupon for a service call, but appointments for those are 3 weeks out, however they would get me in the next day if I pay $125. They knew I was screwed, so I should have never told them I was stuck in bed. Took service tech 5 minutes to figure out I needed freon and then charged me $800 to add some. That's just ridiculous and you would think they want to help out a cancer patient instead of bedding them over. He said my unit is getting older and tried to up sell me on an $18,000 new furnace that's still working. When I said no thank you he proceeded to explain pricing will go up 2k next year. 18-20k lol, I might be extremely ill, but I'm not an idiot. That's double the cost. You got me once, but never again. Companies that take advantage of people should go out of business. We will make sure everyone in our association and family never uses them. Everyone we talk to is furious with them. They will stay in business, but we will definitely cost them some future revenue. read more

Needed a second opinion on replacing whole HVAC system (a/c, furnace, hot water heater) and called Comfort First on a Sunday. They were out first thing Monday morning. Felt very comfortable with them--much more so than the prior company--and decided to use them for replacement. They were out two days later for complete replacement. They finished quicker than estimated, clean and very thorough. They explained everything until we were comfortable and satisfied with the new system. There were two very minor things that came up. I was charged $477.00 for a $20 dollar part and $85 service call. I understand that you have to mark up material since you purchase and store the material on your service trucks. However, $392 is rediculous. I have contacted them through their website twice and hope to get this issue resolved. I hope the technician just made a mistake. Please contact me. Was told that mark up is to pay for the service tech, the vehicle and the tools. even at $150 to just show up, and $150 for the parts, and $150/hr for the technician i still got ripped off. We had a issue with a burning smell from our furnace and contacted Comfort First and spoke with Tracy. Tracy was very helpful and told me she would reach out to the service tech and call me back with a ETA, when she did I was surprised to find out their tech would be there in about 10 minutes. Well Ricky arrived, located the burning smell issue, performed a inspection, adjusted the blower speed, tested the CO level and provide me with a estimate for a new HVAC unit. All I can say is I would recommend this company to everyone! They are very knowledgeable fair with their service rates and unlike other service contractors were honest and explained to me to consider replacing our equipment due to the age and efficiency without using scare tactics. After neglecting my furnace for a good 8 years or so, I thought it was time to have it serviced before winter set in. I ran across a great coupon for a $59.95 furnace inspection and cleaning for Comfort First and decided to give them a call. I was able to get an appointment scheduled quickly, and the service tech was on time and very professional. He completed his work quickly and efficiently, and even gave us some tips on how to better maintain the system (including which filters to use) to keep it in good shape. We even talked about next spring and how I will need to have my AC unit cleaned and inspected as well. I'll definitely be scheduling that service with Comfort First next spring. The bottom line is that I could not be happier with the service provided, the professionalism of the service tech, and the overall pricing. Not impressed. We were charged a diagnostic fee, and the suggested repair has nothing to do with the problem. The quote to replace the system was thousands over other quotes. Stay far away. As of now, we have received three other quotes all coming in about $4000 to install the same unit that Comfort First quoted us at $7800. read more

Was prompt, I needed a new starting capacitor and had it replaced, After replacement decided to order a spare capacitor and found out I was charged 8 times more for the part's actual cost. Contacted owner and was told "We have trucks to be maintained and over head ect". I was charged 365, called several places and average for the repair is 175. read more

We had just moved to the Joliet area and were in search for an air duct cleaning company. We just purchased a home and the previous homeowner was a smoker. The smell was terrible and I couldn't stand to be in the house more than a couple hours. I messaged Comfort First with our concerns on a Sunday morning and asked if they gave free estimates- they responded right away and came out to the house that very same day. The owner was very knowledgeable and honest. He told us what we could do to improve our HVAC system. I also asked if they could clean out our dryer vent as it's probably been neglected but he was straight forward and said the kind we have could just be replaced for $20 rather than having them clean it for $100. I had another company scheduled to clean our outside units because one didn't seem like it was working correctly only to find out that there was a leak at the indoor coil. As I was speaking to the salesperson from this other company, I had an uneasy feeling and my red flag warnings were going off. I had remembered seeing someone on the Next Door App had recommended Comfort First in Minooka. I called Comfort First for another opinion and explained the situation to Tracy, who was very understanding and pleasant. Within hours Rick came to our home, assessed the situation, very patiently answered all of my questions (unlike the guy from the other company), and helped us update and upgrade both of our 13 year old builder-grade units to higher efficiency units with outstanding warranties and even informed us of the rebates being offered through ComEd on those units. Both units were installed and up and running in two days. Installers TJ and Tim were both courteous, respectful, knowledgeable and professional and also patiently answered any question that I had. I have to also note that they were so sweet to my very energetic dog. Julie also was so patient and helpful when I called afterwards to make sure I had all of the correct model and serial numbers for the rebates. Rick is a kind and trustworthy business owner and I am so glad that things didn't work out with the first company so I now have someone I feel confident calling with any heating and cooling questions, should they ever arise.
