Other than a little confusion on when they were starting, I am very satisfied with the work they did. They did sheet rock repair and subcontracted carpet replacement after I had a water leak. I had a wastewater leak in the wall of my kitchen. I had called AAA Home Insurance and filed a claim. I chose J&J Contracting to do the job. I lived through Dust and Dirt for approximately three months, living in my home. The Contracting Company had to tear out the bottom Kitchen cabinets, including my new countertops, sink, garbage disposal, and all tile flooring from the kitchen and great room. partial hallway, linen closet, 2nd bath, laundry room, drywall from the kitchen, and living room. All my appliances were removed from the kitchen, and the laundry room was emptied. My total living space was my bedroom, master bath, and office area. The Contracting Company installed a mop sink in my kitchen, so I had to stay with the dogs throughout the construction, so my Insurance company would not have to pay for other housing. I have no issues with the rebuild of kitchen cabinets, the countertops, the replacement of toilets, or the laundry room. I had been given one choice of tile to be installed. This is the only big issue I have. I talked directly to the on-site supervisor, Carlos, about tile work and grout that was to be used. My request was directed to Carlos while he was talking to the gentleman who was installing tile work and grout as well. My only concern was the grout. I stated to Carlos that the grout was to be sealed. Carlos assured me that the grout was incorporated with the sealer. Not just Carlos and but also both men doing the tile were present during the conversation with Carlos. A few months ago, I contacted J&J Contracting about the grout work done in my home. The grout had turned black, and obviously wasn't sealed at all. The owner of J&J contracting told his secretary to inform me that there was no change order for the grout sealer, and they would not cover the cleaning and sealing of the grout. I was also told that Carlos no longer worked for J&J Contracting. Instead, I was given the Coit Cleaning and Restoration phone number. This was a subcontractor that worked with J&J Contacting. I scheduled a date and time with this company, which was today. Coit Cleaning and Restoration arrived approximately 9:00 am this morning. I was informed of the process and chemicals used to clean the tile and grout, and the amount of time that the man needed. I had to foot the cleaning cost to Coit Cleaning today $550.00. That was the amount J&J Contracting would have charged my Insurance. It wasn't my job to write a change order to J&J Contracting for the grout sealer. It was their employee, Carlos. Since Carlos didn't do the job, I'm out of pocket $550.00. J&J Contracting didn't stand by their employees, as discussed with me. THEY DID INFORM ME THAT CARLOS IS NO LONGER THEIR EMPLOYEE! Now that's a kick in the a**! I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND J&J CONTRACTING TO ANYONE. I was referred to J&J Contracting from a coworker after a major leak ruined the baseboards and floors in my living room, laundry room and a bedroom. An estimator came out right away (and on time) and provided an estimate and worked with my insurance company. They helped negotiate coverage for things that the insurance company missed when reviewing my damage. After I signed a contract they assigned my project manager, Felipe, who was in frequent contact with me. He kept the project moving and always addressed my questions promptly. I could not have been more satisfied with the service and could find zero issues whatsoever with the work. Everything looked even better than before the damage. Please stay away from this contractor unless you want the worst service imaginable, and to be scammed. Consider yourself warned. I just finished sending in a complaint to the Nevada State Contractors Board regarding this contractor and the quote they gave me to demolish my patio enclosure (which was attempted to be completed by another contractor (Adame Construction), who has already had their license suspended/revoked. We had restoration work completed in our home by J&J Contracting after our entire downstairs flooded due to an RO unit failure. I have to give a shout out to the amazing workers who gave their best and many times went above and beyond. Many thanks to Juan and his assistant Jorge on insulation, drywall and paint; Francisco and his assistant (didn't get your name, sorry!) on flooring and tile--and the fireplace (love it!); Danny on the kitchen cabinets; Guillermo on baseboards and carpentry; also the plumbers (didn't get names); and--of course--the project manager, Felipe, who kept everyone on schedule and got the project completed efficiently from start to finish. We may have butted heads a few times in the beginning, but I learned a lot and we worked together well by the end. I hope I never have to use this knowledge again in the future, but now that I can read a scope of work and know better how to read an estimate, I would advise anyone to make sure you understand it vs your insurance company's estimate so that there are no misunderstandings during your project. I left 2 initial voicemails with Javier who never bothered to return my call. stupidly, I gave them another chance and called the main number. Jason came to my house, promised me an estimate in 4 days it took him 2 weeks to send the initial estimate. That was with several calls and a promise I would receive it in 2 hours. Which is exactly how long it must have taken him to complete HALF of the estimate for my kitchen! I called for a GC to do a kitchen remodel and 2 bathrooms. The adjuster, Jason took it upon himself to write an estimate for what he assumed my insurance was paying. I am paying them. Wow! Wow! Wow! Here is an HONEST review from a first time homeowner: I had a leak that flooded the second floor kitchen in my house. As a first time home owner, I panicked and worked with a few different companies to dry the flooring and fix the leak. This was done quickly. Soon, I met Juan of JJ Contracting. He was kind, professional, so compassionate. Juan looked at the damage and quickly put together the quote. He went as far as to remain in contact with my insurance company to get what my houses needed to be repaired. I barely had to talk to my insurance adjuster and claim specialist as he DID IT FOR ME and looped me in all emails to keep me informed. Now I don't expect that to happen for everyone but for me, he did it all and I'm so grateful. I told him I had a time line to meet ideally in regards to repairing the hole in my wall that was damaged by water and ALL the flooring on the second floor that was damaged by water--I knew it was a tall order but believe it or not, J&J met the time! As soon as we signed an agreement, flooring professionals came at 8am the next day. They arrived on time and politely every day, as the painters and plumbers and project managers followed suit in a very timely manner. The project manager, Ryan was always available to answer my questions. Everybody worked so professionally and cleaned up after themselves everyday!! Juan, one of the owners saw to it to touch base with me every other day to ensure I knew what was going on and what the time line was. He was so awesome and made a scary situation so tolerable. The attention to detail is incredible. For instance, the base board of one of my walls was slightly short--left from the previous owner. I could've left it that way and saved some time but he asked his project manager to repair it even though they weren't the cause. The ONLY reason why I said they are reliable was for their water mitigation people. They were on time or early and didn't mind waiting a few minutes until I got home. Made quick work of getting all the water dried up. That's about where it stops. Had a pipe leak in the master bath. Had a plumber come out, remove a garden tub and fix the leak. J&J said they don't know what they were doing, the plumber who I hired. Ok, whatever. We told them that when the tub was removed we got blasted with moldy-mildew smell from under the tub and the plumber said that the leak was probably right from when they screwed in the drain plug when the house was built in 2017 and had been leaking over the 5 years. The rep who came, tossed his meter down, says the needle didn't move but the plumber and I both saw it move. The rep also stated to my wife and I that we have no mold or mildew in the subfloor under the tub because they are trained in it, even though you could clearly see black stuff in spots all over under where the tub was. Then he states that the spray that was used during the water removal killed it. My wife even said that she got a bad vibe and it seemed like because it wasn't going to be a whole-house demo and remodel that the rep didn't want to take the job. Plumber said the same thing after talking to him. Asked for an estimate to do what they would do, for them to fix a 3' x 3' hole in the stucco they said $2k! That's ridiculous for like MAYBE $200 in material and that's even an overestimate. I would never use or recommend them to anyone. read more

They quoted us a little over $12k to replace our granite counters and rebuild a small portion of our kitchen cabinets, when it was time to do the work they sent their project manager Javier for a final check before they get started. When Javier arrived he told us if we didn't want to get different counter tops he could save us some time and some money by matching the countertop and only replacing the affected area (9x3ft) at most). But still tried to get us to sign the contract for the 12k, he said "the insurance is still giving you that much anyways" when we told him we weren't comfortable signing without the changes he told us to just sign and he will write the changes in. We expressed for him to send over an updated contract via email later in the day and we would sign and send back. He insisted coming back in person next day with the updated contract instead. Come next day he arrives with no changes made to the contract, but said he talked to the countertop guy and they would be able to removed 2k off the total. Now mind be we have decent countertop space and went from getting all new countertops to just a small portion, maybe one fifth of the counter space. This would also mean that other thing like removing appliances and reinstalling were not needed along with some smaller labor and equipment costs. We pointed out all the line items in the contract that should be void. Shortly after that conversation he claimed he could not find matching granite. We asked him to keep looking and to bring back a proper updated contract and never heard from him since(it's been weeks). read more

In a word: untrustworthy. I'd never recommend them to anyone. I had a plumbing issue and the plumber called them because the leak had caused some water damage. They said they'd contact my insurance and get their approval to do work. Then they proceed to tear my wall open and leave it that way for several days during the middle of Vegas summer. After day 2 of this, I call my insurance to find out they never approved the work and had no awareness of what was happening. J&Js communication to me largely considered of the sales guy repeating over and over to me "this is standard". Worst experience ever!! J&J Contracting LLC rebuilt my shower without PERMITS! They received a citation from the NV Contractors Board on 6/29/2021. The Building department failed the final inspection now the shower and walls have to be torn down and redone!! Hard to believe they're licensed, I paid them $10,000 for nothing! Javier Ibarra tried to put a fake mechanic lien against my property and than backed out 2 hours before trial. Case dismissed without prejudice and removed the lien! He thought he could take advantage because we're seniors, well he thought wrong!! Javier Ibarra lied to the Contractors Board and Justice Court about the contracted amount as well as the altered contracts I've already mailed in to the Attorney Generals Office. J & J never completed the work. Now they are trying to charge for the entire project when it is only about halfway completed. The only part of the rebuild of my water damaged area that they performed work was the insulation, drywall, and a small amount of painting. Then they disappeared not to be heard from for months. I left many messages on the phone of estimator Daniel Merritt. They were never returned and later found out he was no longer with the company. Later after leaving messages others contacted me, came over and inspected what work needed to be done and then they ended up not being with the company any longer too. I still have upper cabinets on the wall that need to be removed and an extra-large countertop and other items left in my garage. J & J unplugged the new water softener and did not plug it back in. I was then rushed into making a choice from a limited selection of office cabinets, however after looking at it I found it not very functional. My old cabinets had pull outs on every shelf, what J & J could provide did not have that option. My original office had desk areas with wood pull outs underneath the countertop for the computer keyboards. J & J could not provide me with any of these needed features. I work 8 hours or more a day in my office at my computer if the keyboard is not at that slightly lower-level is doesn't work. The way my old office was set up was very well thought out everything was very functional I don't want to be forced to live with less and be charged twice for the same cabinets. read more

J and J contracting is an unethical company that will turn any project you hire them for into a nightmare. Jason is an unbelievably rude, passive aggressive project manager that has no business in this industry. My property had flooded through no fault of my own and half of the reimbursement was the responsibility of my HOA. Jason was aware of this scenario and was hired for a flood remediation job where I paid my portion upfront immediately. Once the project was finished, Jason immediately started to impose a Lien on my property for the other half of payment. He knew that the payment was being payed out by my HOA and that I don't have the money. I completely understand I am the responsible party and starting the process after 30 days of not receiving payment, but he did this immediately after completion on a holiday weekend. He knew they would not cut the check until the project was completed and that it takes some time to receive. Jason even had confirmation in writing that the payment will be issued. They did nothing but delay the project with poor initiative and an unnecessary permit that also delayed this project by months during the holidays. Jason knew the hardship we were experiencing during this time and how hard this living situation was on our family, but he went out of his way to make this the worst experience possible with zero empathy. J and J should lose their business license due to unethical business practices and would not recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

I first used J&J when I had an emergency bathroom remodel due to a toilet leak. I liked their quote transparency and flexibility. What I got was exceptional quality of workmanship and a beautiful updated bathroom (except the tub). Now, due to some health issues, I decided to finish the bathroom with a walk-in shower. I called one if the two day, hurry up shower converter companies. Major sales pitch- high price. Called J&J- once again fair quote, giving me exactly what I wanted. Carlos, the project manager, is a great communicator and kept the process moving. Permits were pulled, inspections done, which gave me confidence in the quality. Carlos gave me great advice on materials and details, all the time making sure I was getting what I wanted. And now I have a great walk in shower, once again top quality. I am beyond happy.
