I went to this store at the posted time of opening (7:30AM) to pick something up quickly before heading to work. When I got there, not all the lights were even on yet but the door was unlocked so I went in. I found my items that I needed within 30-60 seconds and took them to the register. After waiting there for a few minutes, an employee walked by and gruffly said, "it'll be a few minutes before we can get to you," and disappeared. I continued to wait for about 10 minutes. As the register had not even begun to be opened and I had to be somewhere 10 minutes away by 8 o'clock (and I had experienced just how long it takes for the register to get online at this location before) I walked out and left my merchandise on the counter. If you have a customer waiting, you need to assist them, not treat them like their presence is an inconvenience for you. That is the first rule of customer service. Or, better yet, have your cash register up and running before you open the doors. I felt like I was treated very rudely and as if my time was not valuable, so needless to say I will no longer be doing business at this Aubuchon location.

They are ALWAYS friendly toward me- know me by name and often make genuine personal conversation and inquire about how my projects are coming. Their products are good and very competitively priced- often beating big box store prices. The staff is knowledgeable and always ready to lend a hand finding items, offering materials and method advice, or brainstorming how to accomplish a project. The free and fast delivery is reliable and the delivery drivers and are like heros who regularly brave my dodgy woods road and remote location to help ease my labors, and they do it with a can-do, gung-ho and adventurous attitude. Overall the sort of experience of what I can only imagine a community hardware store might have been like when my grandfathers were my age. Prices aren't very much lower or higher than the 'big box' stores but the staff knows what they're doing, so i'm happy to pay a few bucks extra. They have fixed chain saw which i though were beyond repair, and special ordered parts i couldn't even find on the internet. What's not to like?
