They are ALWAYS friendly toward me- know me by name and often make genuine personal conversation and inquire about how my projects are coming. Their products are good and very competitively priced- often beating big box store prices. The free and fast delivery is reliable and the delivery drivers and are like heros who regularly brave my dodgy woods road and remote location to help ease my labors, and they do it with a can-do, gung-ho and adventurous attitude. Overall the sort of experience of what I can only imagine a community hardware store might have been like when my grandfathers were my age. Kudos to the whole operation- and BIG thanks to everyone who makes it what it is!

I've been to a lot of hardware stores and my local Ace stores are nowhere near what this Ace…read more/Hamshaws store is: by far, 1) size: this store is a decent square footage. I prefer to go to smaller stores than the big box superstores when I can to support local smaller business and to get things more quickly- this size has plenty to offer but it's faster than walking through a mega store to get a few screws or a new tool. 2) selection: hands down, this store has far more in stock than all other Aces and local smaller stores when it comes to power tools/ power tool option models from Dewalt, Makita, craftsman, black and decker and Bosch- among others. Decent selection of most things you could ever need for your projects and household stuff. Any time I've ordered online the order is there and ready. Recommended.

They had 1 paint can on the shelf, but no lid. The price marked on the shelf was $5.99. i picked up a cheap plastic lid hoping she would at least give me a discount or find me a lid so i did not have to buy one, that was supposed to come with the pail. Nope, the empty paint can rang up at 6.99 and she rang up the cover at 2.59 for a total of $9.58 for an empty paint can. I told her to keep it and i would go to Home Depot to get it. IHome Depot price was 6.99 and it came with a cover. I think Hamshaws need to empower their employees, the ability to work with the customer, if there is an issue, like i experienced. I am sure (maybe not)Hamshaws would rather have me leave as a happy customer and not a disgruntled one

Signs, graphics (right down to the typefaces), taglines (Good Stuff Cheap), and marketing and the approach of the store seem to point to that fact. A lot of the same good and bad features of Building 19 are found here. Material is from distressed suppliers and similar sources, prices are lower than the usual retail, cleanliness is not at a premium, and the store is disorganized. If you can get through that and keep your eye on the bargains, you'll do alright. Don't expect to go here for pampering or for an "experience." Ollie's isn't selling that.

Turns out that the cabinet has no back. I don't mean the top shelf that has the three wooden slats--I mean the cabinet behind the doors. What cabinet doesn't have a back?! That's what a cabinet is. As assembled, the piece is not a cabinet; it is a set of shelves with doors in front of the lower two. I'm still trying to figure out a way to keep the dust out. The photos on the site carefully do not show this--I never would have bought it if this were shown. Shame on you, Manchester Wood. I thought I'd found a company I could trust. I completely understand I perhaps foolishly assumed all local businesses have been struggling. He and his nephew made it abundantly clear he doesn't have furniture in stock and you have to order. ETAs are this summer at best, but the companies they buy from only give him a 1 month at a time window with no guarantees. After he was done yelling at me, I said that I should post a review of my experience and he said "Please do", so here it is. If I hadnt been yelled at, I would have ordered and waited, as I have bought all my furniture there over the years. If you need something, do not offer to buy a floor model to help them out. They have plenty of money and don't need the business.
