They had 1 paint can on the shelf, but no lid. The price marked on the shelf was $5.99. i picked up a cheap plastic lid hoping she would at least give me a discount or find me a lid so i did not have to buy one, that was supposed to come with the pail. Nope, the empty paint can rang up at 6.99 and she rang up the cover at 2.59 for a total of $9.58 for an empty paint can. I told her to keep it and i would go to Home Depot to get it. IHome Depot price was 6.99 and it came with a cover. I think Hamshaws need to empower their employees, the ability to work with the customer, if there is an issue, like i experienced. I prefer to go to smaller stores than the big box superstores when I can to support local smaller business and to get things more quickly- this size has plenty to offer but it's faster than walking through a mega store to get a few screws or a new tool. 2) selection: hands down, this store has far more in stock than all other Aces and local smaller stores when it comes to power tools/ power tool option models from Dewalt, Makita, craftsman, black and decker and Bosch- among others. Decent selection of most things you could ever need for your projects and household stuff. Any time I've ordered online the order is there and ready. Recommended.

It was on sale, and listed as being "in stock" (not only one or two left) one hour before I arrived. It takes me about 45 minutes to get there. When I arrived, they were out of stock - - having only the display model. Manager was kind of crappy about it -- saying that "Corporate" controls inventory reporting, that I should call first to see if the item is in stock. Short message is that I missed out on the sale, didn't get the product I wanted or any price protection, and the employees were snotty about it. Bought what I needed at Tractor Supply and HF will miss out on a good customer for awhile.

They are a small 'mom and pop' style hardware store that has as much outside storage for sale items…read moreas they have inside. A true throw back, but despite how small they are they really pack it in at this store. They have almost as many things as you can find in other bigger stores with 1/4 the store size. I can't help thinking 'fire trap' with the pre-WWII area aisle widths and floor boards that feel like they are from the turn of the century i can't help but think that it would be some what problematic getting out in the event of a fire. On more than one occasion I have found items that i was looking for that i haven't been able to find online at a better price than i have seen at a Lowe's or Home Depot.

The skinny older guy with glasses and beard was totally unhelpful. First I waited at the paint counter and he walked by 3 times and didn't say a thing to me. I finally stopped him and said I need help choosing a stain. Every time I asked a question he said "I guess, if you want to". The I ask about waiting to stain between coats. He said, "read the back of the can" and walked away. I ended up with another customer helping me pick which stain and roller to use. He did mix the stain but started having a conversation with someone else. I waited awhile after the shaking machine stopped before interrupting his conversation. This is why so many people will go to big box locations. I won't be going back.
