There were eight employees near the appliance section, staff chatting away and totally ignoring customers. Seriously.... Mary arranged to have a member of her team make a special trip to her wholesaler to personally select the flowers and ensure that they would arrive in time to be arranged. Since we had traveled cross country for the funeral we selected The Company of Flowers simply because it was near our hotel. We couldn't be more pleased with the service. When we were presented with the invoice we were equally pleased as we were expecting the cost to be at least twice the amount given the rush request. It's not a huge warehouse kind of store, and the stock occasionally seems to come up a bit short. But most of the time, in our experience, there's a wide choice of styles and sizes for men, women and kids. Prices aren't necessarily cheap, but they carry good brands -- lots of sandals in summer, boots in winter -- and we can't recall any issues over quality. They have good staff who can quickly find what you're looking for, and the overall buying experience here has always been a good one. And if you're wondering -- they're located in the Hannaford grocery shopping area which includes a Mexican restaurant, Michaels and Penny's with lots of free parking.

Customer service at the outset was very good. I was in from out of town, and was told that Dexter's would ship my glasses and shades for a mere $10. I was very happy with that arrangement. About a week later I received a call from their technician letting me know that my shades came in not-as-ordered and that there would be a delay of over a week. I let the technician know that I wouldn't be upset as long as I could get a discount for pain and suffering. He said he would look into it. A day or two later I got a voice mail and a couple of text messages letting me know that my glasses were ready, and could I please pick them up. I immediately called to make sure they were still planning to ship my glasses. They said they were. When I asked the person to verify my mailing address, she recited a totally incorrect address. Since I'm a firm believer that lots of little mistakes can entail a much larger one, I asked to speak with a manager (Jon) to voice my concerns over this handful of mistakes. He patiently listened to my hysterical yammering, them told me he would make sure everything went smoothly from then on. Jon handled everything personally, I got my very generous discount, and so far I'm super happy. I love my glasses, which were speedily and safely shipped, and now I await the shades. I could really use some good luck today…read more First, they requested a referral from my PCP without even asking me. I have vision insurance, and I specifically told them I wanted that used. Instead, they billed my health insurance anyway. Second, they dilated my eyes again, even though they had done it just a few months earlier. It didn't seem necessary, and it felt like another way to bill my health insurance instead of my vision plan. Then, when it came time to fit my progressive lenses, the machine they normally use wasn't working. Instead of taking proper measurements, the employee just estimated everything by sight. I usually wait about four weeks for my glasses, but these came in after only one week, which immediately made me wonder if something was wrong. As soon as I put them on, I knew they weren't right. I tried wearing them for two days, hoping my eyes just needed time to adjust, but they don't. My vision is cloudy, and the glare and reflections are so bad you can barely see my eyes through the lenses. I have an appointment today so they can "see what they can do." I'm really stressed and hoping they make this right. Wish me luck!
