Jack's Hardware just scored a bull's eye in fixing my saw-tooth rake. The plastic sleeve attaching…read morethe head/teeth to the handle had broken off during the winter and thus separated handle from head. I took it to Jack's and they put the head back in the handle and replaced the broken plastic with a metal sleeve (spare from another broken tool) thus holding the head and handle together. Appreciate this service so much because it saves $$ from buying a new and probably lower quality rake - it also reduces solid waste by repairing rather than replacing. Thank you Jacks!

I returned several times, but it remained lost; finally, after carefully describing it to a bright young man, he went up to the attic and FOUND my lamp! They'd put someone else's name on it; had it not been for MY perseverance and HIS listening skills, I still would not now have that beautiful 19th century floor lamp in my living room!

Very well stocked home improvement store, I found it well organized and laid out. Each Home Depot…read morehas roughly similar layout but it's the "roughly similar" that can throw a customer for a loop. Having said that, it suffers from the perennial Home Depot staff indifferent customer attitude. I had a question on kitchen garbage disposers. There were eight employees near the appliance section, staff chatting away and totally ignoring customers. Seriously.... On the other hand, the cashiers were absolutely helpful Good visit but Home Depot needs to emphasize customer service training. Sadly, that seems to be corporate-wide.

I've been to a lot of hardware stores and my local Ace stores are nowhere near what this Ace…read more/Hamshaws store is: by far, 1) size: this store is a decent square footage. I prefer to go to smaller stores than the big box superstores when I can to support local smaller business and to get things more quickly- this size has plenty to offer but it's faster than walking through a mega store to get a few screws or a new tool. 2) selection: hands down, this store has far more in stock than all other Aces and local smaller stores when it comes to power tools/ power tool option models from Dewalt, Makita, craftsman, black and decker and Bosch- among others. Decent selection of most things you could ever need for your projects and household stuff. Any time I've ordered online the order is there and ready. Recommended.

They had 1 paint can on the shelf, but no lid. The price marked on the shelf was $5.99. i picked up a cheap plastic lid hoping she would at least give me a discount or find me a lid so i did not have to buy one, that was supposed to come with the pail. Nope, the empty paint can rang up at 6.99 and she rang up the cover at 2.59 for a total of $9.58 for an empty paint can. I told her to keep it and i would go to Home Depot to get it. IHome Depot price was 6.99 and it came with a cover. I think Hamshaws need to empower their employees, the ability to work with the customer, if there is an issue, like i experienced. I am sure (maybe not)Hamshaws would rather have me leave as a happy customer and not a disgruntled one

showed up to exchange my 20cf argon tank for a larger size- i have an account with them for 3 years…read morenow. it's the ONLY account I've ever had with any gas supplier- they are the inly gas supplier in the area. i bought my tig welder 3 years ago, and at the same time i got a 20cf bottle of argon that THEY gave me (along with oxy / ace and co2 / arg mix for mig)... the guy around back gives me a hard time about how it isn't their tank- the tank apparently belongs to praxair. i tell him it's the tank THEY gave me years ago along with the other tanks. he says no- i repeat, yes. airgas is the ONLY gas supply chain I've ever used! there's no praxair even in the state or within a 60 mile radius! This guy is still going to argue with me that it's not their tank!!! then he says it's illegal for him to even take it because the sticker on it is scratched up. i explained to him It's in the exact same condition it is when I got it; The tank went from the backseat of my truck, then home and strapped to my welding cart in my garage, and sat there for years untouched. Unbelievable! The only reason why I'm giving them two stars instead of 1 is because the other front end guy (bald) came out and took care of business, and did it in a friendly manner. Either they messed up and gave me someone else's returned bottle years ago or this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I've only ever had one account with Airgas, and only bought gas from Airgas. If I have someone else's bottle, it's because they gave it to me. Simple as that!
