They are ALWAYS friendly toward me- know me by name and often make genuine personal conversation and inquire about how my projects are coming. Their products are good and very competitively priced- often beating big box store prices. The staff is knowledgeable and always ready to lend a hand finding items, offering materials and method advice, or brainstorming how to accomplish a project. The free and fast delivery is reliable and the delivery drivers and are like heros who regularly brave my dodgy woods road and remote location to help ease my labors, and they do it with a can-do, gung-ho and adventurous attitude. Overall the sort of experience of what I can only imagine a community hardware store might have been like when my grandfathers were my age. After I selected the pieces they offered to cut them to my measurements so the 16' pieces would fit better in my van. While doing that they also offered to square up the rough ends with their saw. And they gave me a quantity discount. The employees are wonderfully helpful. A couple of years ago the manager recommended a contractor to me and the recommendation worked out great.

Read Clarke retired after a lifetime of commitment and service to the community and this store was sold to Rocky's Hardware, a New England chain based in Springfield MA, with 48 stores including in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. Rocky's is family owned. Although most of the original employees are no longer working there, it still remains a super community place in small-town New England. The employees are super friendly and eager to assist. The Ace Hardware affiliation means they can take advantage of a worldwide supply chain. Since the turnover, stock variety has visibly increased. Another addition to their offerings include online ordering. It was sad to see the old family move away. But if it had to, Rocky's is a welcome presence in the community.
