Jason from service now came out and gave me an estimate to replace my ac and furnace unit. He did a…read moregood job with their estimate , but while taking measurements he noticed that my hot water heater was venting into my garage and told me I should fix it. I don't know how long it was like that, but I can't tell you how happy I am that he noticed my problem. He helped insure that my family was safe and I really appreciate that.

Wish I could give a better rating since everyone I talked to and worked with was friendly and they…read moreseem like nice people - just didn't work out in my case. I was looking to get a quote for an HRV installed so I called and asked about that. I was asked when the last time our HVAC was serviced and since it had been a couple years was told we should just schedule a service before going ahead with a quote. So I scheduled - great! Guy came out and performed the service, but during the service the float switch we had on the system (so the condensate from the AC wouldn't overflow into our crawlspace if the drain got a clog) shorted the system when he plugged it back in. He said these things are unusual and not needed, since if it overflows it'll just have water in the crawlspace, no big deal (!?!), not like if the HVAC was in the attic. And the system wouldn't turn on unless he unplugged it, was that ok? Since I wanted the HVAC and AC to work I said ok. I asked the technician about getting a quote for an HRV and how that would work, etc, and he said he didn't know much about those and that he didn't see why they were necessary. While agree they're not necessary, we want one to improve our indoor air quality - thus the original call! He said he would note it down and the office would get back to me. Left with a $300 service bill, and an HVAC system in worse-off shape than before (no working float switch), I called back the next business day to see what could be done. The owner was really helpful and said he'd look into it, called back the next day and had the part ordered and would fix the float switch for free. I asked about getting a quote for an HRV and he said they don't really do them, so couldn't help out here. Ugh! That's why I called originally and wouldn't have had someone out here and paid $300 for service I didn't really want. All I really wanted was a quote! Lesson learned on my part, but overall won't be working with them again as they didn't help be address what I wanted to with my system (and I'm out $300 which seems pricey for what was ~1 hour maintenance service)

Then proceeded to pre-clean all the vents with a HEPA Festool. They realized that one of the ducts was disconnected and even crawled under the house to reattach it for no extra charge! They showed us how the negative air machine works and the filter they use in the negative air machine before - and after carefully exiting with the dirty ones. Later we were able to inspect them outside! There were playing cards, a pine cone, and a massive, disgusting amount of dust/grime among other things. They uploaded a bunch of before and after pictures of the ducts along with the invoice and sent an email after they left. We are so happy we both chose to get the ducts cleaned and chose Better Air Northwest to get it done!!!

I was impressed by the process from start to finish and the noticeable difference in air quality afterward. The scheduling process was easy and transparent. I called on a Tuesday, and they were able to fit me within two weeks. The office staff clearly explained the pricing structure (which was fixed based on the size of the house, with optional add-ons like dryer vent cleaning) and sent a confirmation text the day before. The technicians, Andreas & Cody, called me 50 minutes before arrival, right arrived pretty close to the promised time. I knew there was construction down the street so I figured they would be delayed due to stopped traffic. The two arrived in a well-marked truck and was immediately professional. They took time to explain the negative pressure vacuum system they use, which involved hooking up a large hose to the main duct trunk near the furnace. They wore boot covers inside the house, which I appreciated. The cleaning itself involved systematically sealing off all registers and then using powerful air whips into each vent to agitate and loosen all the debris. They showed me the incredible amount of dirt, dust, and junk they removed from the main trunk--it was genuinely shocking and visually compelling. When finished with the vents they took on the dryer. The lint cleaned out of the vent and the filter was surprising. I expect the drying cycles will be quicker with a clean system. The entire process took approximately 5 hours. Once finished, they sealed up the access holes they created cleanly. There were only two rooms where they forgot to move furniture back in place. The immediate difference was significant: the air in the house feels fresher and less "stuffy," and the HVAC system runs noticeably quieter. I am confident that the removal of years of dust and allergens will benefit our household, especially during allergy season. Better Air Northwest delivered exactly what they promised: professional service, clear communication, and excellent results. I highly recommend them if you are looking to improve your indoor air quality.
