Service is fantastic, cocktails are well made and done right! The prime rib was a bit too salty for my wife's taste. My sirloin was average. The wedge salad was excellent and the carrot cake is the best ever!

Great service, good food quality, classy atmosphere and drinks! Great place to celebrate special occasions or just a spontaneous dinner night out. Always a solid dining choice for the area.

Visited J Alexander's for the first time and it did not disappoint. We were greeted warmly and promptly, then seated immediately. We had reservations so I'm sure that helped. It's a beautiful establishment with soft lighting and lots of natural light as well. The fully stocked bar was a few feet away from dining area which was perfect so as to not hear what ever was on TV during dinner. Our server was friendly and quite efficient as he shared some of his favorites on the menu. We started with cocktails and a spinach dip appetizer. The cocktails were refreshing and the dip was delicious. Our entrees included a steak w/ smashed potatoes which was juicy and delicious. The other entree was a seafood pasta that included shrimp, crab and scallops. The pasta was creamy and had a little kick to it which elevated the taste. We ended with a generous portion of Key Lime pie. It was devine. The crust itself was to die for. Can't wait to visit again.

I wish I could give this place 6 stars! My wife and I decided to have a date night and try J. Alexander's and I can't believe we haven't been here before. First, the server was absolutely amazing. She was kine, funny and she made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. I finished my water once... And she came by 15 seconds later for a refill. And she apologized. She was so attentive. The food was also pretty awesome. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, my wife had sea food pasta. My chicken was so good. I haven't had chicken like that in forever. We finished it off with the chocolate cake. Thankfully, our server warned is that the portions were huge, because we almost ordered too. One was more than enough.

Longtime lover of J Alexander's!! But the basse location is the only one I frequent. First time at this location. The vibe is very different. I feel like I am eating at a budget hotel restaurant lounge. Food was good. But the shrimp even seemed different at this location from the other. Service was great. I can't knock them for that. I don't know. Maybe just not for me. Go try for yourself.

Dirty Martini. Delicious.

Amazing atmosphere and exceptionally professional staff. We were lucky to have Marlysa taking care of us , she went above and beyond to make my wife feel truly special on her birthday. A particularly memorable touch was when the chef personally came to our table to wish her a happy birthday. That level of attention really stood out. We'll definitely be back.

Restaurant area! Excellent espresso martini, wonderful Lasagna special company and great service

Disfrutamos un maravilloso tiempo en J. Alexander's , San Antonio, maravilloso restaurant, excelente atención, deliciosa, comida especial compañía! Recomendamos ampliamente este restaurante definitivamente es un lugar para volver!

Our first experience at J Alexander's was not at all what we were expecting. The restaurant was beautiful. We had a wonderful server who made the most delicious martini I have had. Sadly everything that came out of the kitchen was a huge disappointment. Caesar salad had potential to be great but way too heavy on the anchovies. The Maui steak was a disaster. Not once but twice it arrived at our table looking like it had been microwaved. Management apologized but the disaster was clear to us all. We may try again and order very basic items.

Tonight's dinner was perfect from the friendly staff, to the ambiance of the restaurant and of course the food and drinks. Highly recommend the wedge salad to start, it was delicious. The bread and butter were brought out super fresh and hot. But the star of the evening was the delicious Tuscan steak, cooked to perfection with a side of mashed potatoes. Excellently paired with a glass of Austin Hope wine. Ohh and don't leave there without getting the carrot cake. Absolutely the best in town !! Highly recommend you guys trying them out. This was the location off Fiesta Texas Dr.

"Post Holiday Shenanigans" This year my company decided to expand our reach in San Antonio and ventured a little further out for our Post Holiday Meal. After a few other site visits, I decided to request this venue because of the size of the upper area that could house around 60 plus guests. I conducted a site visit of the venue and was greeted by the hostess station and spoke with the manager Archie. He gave me a walkthrough of the space and after a few phone calls back and forth, and a secured reservation, we arrived on Saturday evening for our event. The cold outside had us huddling around the bar, while more guests arrived, but the bartender had the spirits flowing to get our party started. I highly recommend the strawberry virgin mojito. When about 15 guests were in the bar area, the hostess led us to our area, where the menus were laid out, candles were lit and the lights were dimmed to set the mood. The Jazz music in the background was lowered just enough for light conversations among friends. The staff was SPECTACULAR and I'd like to highlight the teamwork and leadership of Marlysa, Alicia, Nya and Christopher. They were ready and willing to assist our larger party and had drinks out within minutes. Because of the interstate construction, many of our party goers were running behind, so we ordered chips for the tables. While I understand inflation, we all agreed that $15 for two handful of chips was a bit much, but enjoyed the fresh tomato salsa and queso. The guests started arriving and the food orders were received in a quick and orderly fashion. Our wait staff stayed near and ensured all guests were taken care of and the night was running smoothly. My boyfriend and I ordered the New York Steak and Macaroni and Cheese, as well as, the Barbecue Baby Back Ribs with the orzo and wild rice and fries. While orders came out correctly, my fries were cold, and I did get a few complaints about inaccurate temperatures on the steaks. ( menu stated they would try to cook as close to customer's request) We knew that a larger party would be a bit hard and I applaud the chefs in the kitchen for putting out the orders accurately and quickly. I had to move the star power down one because of the comments about the food, but all in all, I surveyed laughter, an attentive staff and food disappearing off of plates. My ribs were delicious and I was pleased with my sides and my babe enjoyed his meal. All in all, we had a terrific event. The restaurant was packed and still pumped out food to new arriving guests. Highly recommended, just know for a group of 40+ it's going to be a pretty penny and Archie your staff were wonderful! The Culture of teamwork was displayed all night :) Ms. Islandgal29412

What kind of dress code? Before I had read no phone zone but can't seem to find. I thought a finer dining establishment.

Business casual to dress-up is the best fit. Sure there are people in shorts and t-shirts but this is a finer-dining establishment.

Is there outdoor seating?

Currently, no; But I did talk to management about it and it is something they want to install.

It was our fault for not interpreting the menu correctly. Absolutely nothing on the restaurant. We thought we were getting fish that had sauce on it - our bad. The drink drinks were good - a little bit too sweet for me. It was called the swamp thing. Sitting at the bar, the service was good. We were right by the oyster station and they were kicking the oysters out! The blue points were excellent.

Thankfully the manager has it removed due to his mistake. When it came to getting sat, at 45 min I went to ask for an update and they had the nerve to tell me it was going to be another 45 min!! I was like heck no! I'm pregnant and there wasn't as many people when we first arrived. There were way more people waiting now. The hostess apologized said they had a large reservation but will make sure we get sat in 10-15 min. Good thing I checked. Then when we got sat (family of 6), we were sat right under the AC and it was freezing cold. Thankfully they turned it down some for us. I was also disappointed that most of their dishes do not come with veggies, you need to order it separately. And they don't allow you to sub broccoli for the green beans with the kids. Also extremely disappointed in their to go boxes being styrofoam! As much as you pay to eat here they can't offer better quality to go boxes. Styrofoam is banned in most other countries bc of the toxicity ‍ and I asked for some parchment paper and look what they gave me! Overall though the food was good minutes the mistakes and cold temperatures.

In my experience, Restaurant Week dishes were normally smaller portions, but not at Southerleigh! We ordered 3 Dinners and had enough for another two meals, and every bite was incredible. Chicken Cracklins: How these were not in a pool of grease and were perfectly crispy and seasoned was impressive but not a surprise, because Southerleigh knows how to fry chicken! Deviled Eggs: They're the devil because I could eat 12 of them and have no regrets. Creamy, nice bit of bacon on top, and absolutely delicious. Fried Pickles (GF): Y'all. I've never had fried pickles like these before. Perfectly crispy and not even a little greasy. Ranch was delicious, special sauce excellent. I could eat those fried pickles every day - my doctor would love it. Half Chicken (GF): Outstanding. I'm forever amazed but how good this GF chicken is. Unreal. 10/10. Chicken Wings: Fried Catfish: If you have a friend whose faces squishes up in disgust when you suggest fried catfish, take them here and get them this fish. Remoulade was perfect. But the crust on that fry and how light it was + how non-greasy or heavy that fried catfish was...there are no words. I could have eaten that catfish all day. What a treat! Top it off with great, friendly service amidst being sat with multiple tables at once, a wonderfully clean restaurant, and just another top notch experience, and I have decided that I'll need to bar myself from Southerleigh for a minute because I can only buy so many new pairs of bigger pants. Go and enjoy this comfort food, GF or not!

The listening bar concept paired with their state-of-the-art custom sound system makes the atmosphere feel immersive from the second you walk in. The music, lighting, and outstanding service all work together perfectly when you're trying to unwind and decompress after a long week. The lychee martini was smooth, refreshing, and extremely lychee forward. I really enjoyed how they garnished the drink with two whole lychees. I was in heaven and I can honestly say this was one of my favorite cocktails I've had in the city (Thanks for the recommendation Annabelle). Food-wise, everything felt elevated and pieced together beautifully on each plate. The truffle creamy miso soup was warm & comforting with just the right amount of depth and the Asian pear cucumber salad was perfect to cleanse the palate after the soup. The Hawaiian ono was another standout that absolutely delivered. That cilantro oil and the yuzu dance together well with the soft & silky ono. I also really enjoyed the scallop crudo, it also has cilantro oil but this time with ponzu foam. This combination was so good that I absolutely had no shame sipping the married liquid components on the plate between each bite of scallop. Lastly, the wagyu mochi gnocchi is unreal--rich, melt in your mouth mochi gnocchi, savory shrimp and tender wagyu, and this velvety sauce that's semi addicting. This surf-and-turf style dish with seafood and wagyu is where Yozora really flexes; every bite felt balanced, indulgent, and beautifully plated. (This particular evening the sauce on the mochi gnocchi was a touch spicier for me than the first time I visited but I enjoyed every last bite nonetheless). I went a little ham and didn't have room for dessert this time unfortunately. Next time Huge shoutout to my server Annabelle, who made the entire night seamless. My water never even got close to empty, her recommendations were spot on, and she somehow balanced taking care of the bar while still making her tables feel attended to. The rest of the staff even tag teamed service throughout the dining room which I always enjoy seeing. It says a lot about how well the staff and overall concept works together there. Symphony for the soul. Thank you again Annabelle and team for making the whole evening easy to enjoy and adding so much to the experience. Yozora absolutely lives up to the hype. Add it to your list of spots to keep coming back for.
