    BIRMINGHAM GRILL® STEAK BURGER
    Jamie J.

Our favorite, easy date night spot! One of the most consistent restaurants in Birmingham. I have so many favorites on the menu, including the Thai Kai Salad and the Cypress salad. Tonight I was craving the veggie burger and loaded baked potato. Do not sleep on the veggie burger. It's awesome! Service is always on point. They are held to such high standard that could rival any sever from downtown steakhouse.

Great French dip and fries for lunch. $24 was a fair price and the place was fairly packed for lunch time weekday. I'll have to come back for dinner sometime.

Everyone enjoyed their meal. The lobster queso was good. My mother had the prime rib sandwich which is her favorite. My son had the baby back ribs which he said was very good. I had the steak au poivre and it was ok. The peppercorn mushroom sauce was not great. The service was great. Greeted at the door and hostess was very nice. Accommodating seating for my mom who is on a walker. The server was amazing. Definitely make a reservation. It's a nice restaurant and food is good. It is very expensive for a chain restaurant though. It is a noisy restaurant so if you have a hard time hearing you might want to try a booth that might block some sound.

Great experience at J Alexander's after a long day of travel to Alabama. We were seated fairly quickly. Bar is very nice. The hosts were friendly as was our waitress. Food was very tasty and served as ordered . Our waitress Kierra was amazing

Ya'll this review is on the sides I ordered - first of all do ya'll know how rare it is to get a good mac n cheese in a restaurant?! Add hot sauce and it almost almost reminded me of Thanksgiving day family cooked mac n cheese. The acorn squash was so tasty too! And you can't ever go wrong with shoe string fries

PAUL WAS OUTSTANDING! great service on our anniversary dinner on a busy Friday night. Of course can not go wrong with the prime ribs and ribs! Carrot cake to top off the night. Thankful for great service and delicious food.

Food was really good but price is high. We sat at bar. Bartender was attentive tried to up sale a lot. I have never been to a place that gave you the left over martini in a glass I appreciated that. Solid menu and drink menus lots of options. Husband has been for lunch before as wells clean restaurant. Like I said good but pricey.

I'm very familiar with J. Alexander's, but haven't had it in a while so decided to stop by. With this particular visit, it was somewhat interesting. Thankfully we made a reservation because on a Wednesday evening, it was actually quite busy. I was immediately seated, but my guest was running late. I was then greeted and ordered a water and tea. While waiting for my guest to arrive, I was checked on quite a few times, but once they arrived, oddly I wasn't. Eventually our waitress came and took our appetizer and food order, and my guest's drink order. While my appetizer of a garden side salad and the soup of the day, which was like a creamy chicken noodle soup (sorry can't remember the name) came out, the waitress forgot to brink out my guest's drinks, but was courteous and apologized after we brought it to her attention. I also noticed that my entree, which was on special that day, of steak medallions with mashed potatoes and broccoli actually came out first before my guest's burger. The burger was a simple, but a special order. It was supposed to come with no condiments/no cheese and medium well. When it finally came, it came as it normally does... with everything/cheese and it was cooked medium. After explaining the mishap and bright out the dish again, we noticed that they basically served the same burger patty, but without the condiments/cheese (even though you could see where the cheese originally was placed). We then asked for a manager and explained the issue. She apologized and brought out a new burger, even though it was once again cooked medium, instead medium well. However, they were nice enough to comp my guest's meal. As far as my food is concerned, it was served correctly. It was cooked to order and served fresh as always. I will say, you can simply get full off of the side garden salad and their soup, which is a great size. That soup was so good too! I actually enjoyed my soup more than anything else I ate lol. All in all, ok visit despite the small mishaps.

Had lunch there today and the food was absolutely amazing! I had the Steak Maui and the Mac and Cheese. What they marinated that ribeye in stole the show. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars but my steak was overcooked and my waitress was not customer service friendly. She was saying the right things but her body language told a different story. Maybe I will try again. The place is nice and worth a second attempt.

I'm trying to get around to trying all the places i said i need to try one day. Glad i finally got to stop in a J.Alexander's. We had to call to get reservations because online will not let you schedule reservations for over 4 people. It was a painless encounter, but they do need to correct that online. We had a fantastic and attentive server, all of the staff was very friendly. I had devil eggs for the app, nothing to write home around honestly. They did not reinvent the wheel. Skip them for the cost. A martini, which was strong and tasty basically two martini so it was worth the cost absolutely. I had the crab cakes for my main. So much crab, worth the $34 dollars absoutely. We also had the chocolate cake, it is very fudge like. Not a favorite for my family so we didn't enjoy it. Honestly nothing was wrong but it's not a place i would rush back to. There was quite a few families out after church, and tvs at the bar. I would recommend for date night or older family dinner (teens or young adult kids) but not drinks out with the girls.

But you could tell there's regulars there because when we walked in they were like we don't recognize them lol It is not table service you order at the cash register what we used to call it. They do not have Coke products. They only have Pepsi so I ended up just getting a water. My son got a sweet tea that he liked. He started off with a beer, cheese dip, and that came with pita bread and chips. The server threw some toast and that was really good too. I ordered a cup of the French onion soup and it was delicious. I also ordered the Quattro (Four) cheese flatbread. My son ended up getting the spark burger with mac & cheese. He was dazzled by the burger, but not so much the mac & cheese. I ordered a water. He ordered a sweet tea. I had to ask for a refill for him and I never got a refill for my water. They really weren't a lot of people there so it wouldn't be hard to refill drinks. There is a bar there with a bartender it might be better to sit there so you can get more attention It was definitely a 70s 80s theme in there. In the bathroom, they had a cassette box with real cassettes in there. I really did like the decor. And they do have several TVs in there to watch sports. I'm not sure if I'll be back or not

Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had. I called several days ahead to ask about reserving a table and was told brunch was first come, first serve only. To make sure we could sit together, two of us arrived at 9:30 AM for our 10:00 brunch plans. We were initially told we could either sit outside split between two tables or wait about 20 minutes for a table inside together. We agreed to wait. After waiting 40 minutes, they attempted to seat us... split between two tables inside anyway. At that point, what was the purpose of waiting nearly an hour? We declined and chose to wait longer so our group could actually sit together. During all of this, several staff members acted as though our group was a huge inconvenience. There was rude behavior, dismissive attitudes, obvious staring, and even employees giving fake names when asked. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were bothering them simply by being there. We finally got seated around 10:45. Our waitress was polite, but service was painfully slow. Right after ordering, I explained that we had massages beginning at noon and asked if she could prepare our checks early so we could leave on time. There was no sense of urgency about this, everything was still extremely slow and took way longer than expected. It took 30 minutes just for us to receive a mimosa, and then another 40-45 for food. Mind you we still have appointments at the spa which the staff were aware of. Around 1130, right after we got the food, I reminded her again that we urgently needed our checks to make our appointments. She assured us they'd be out within 15 minutes, but we didn't end up signing checks until almost 11:50. We then had to rush across the resort stressed and late for what was supposed to be a relaxing spa experience. What should have been a low-stress, celebratory brunch before my friend's wedding became chaotic and disappointing. The food was fine but overall terrible experience. Between the disorganization, poor communication, rude staff, and extremely slow service, this experience completely missed the mark. I would not return to this restaurant and would strongly recommend eating elsewhere before coming to the resort.
