Delectable food + Impeccable service + Intimate ambiance = Guaranteed memorable experience

I ordered a Cesar with the seafood pasta. The salad was sooooo good for some reason, and I honestly should've stopped eating after that, but I didn't. The pasta came and it was good too, but it had peppers which I asked to be omitted, but whatever. The bartender brought me salt and pepper as if she already knew it needed more seasonings, and it did...but still, it was cool. The rating was more for the experience at the bar. I just felt it wasnt very personable and very, "attendee" like; not too short, but not warming either. Maybe it was because they were about to close in a hour, but who knows. read more

I think everyone knows J.Alexander's is the cream of the crop. There service is great. The Place is nice. There isn't one dish I wouldn't enjoy on the menu. If you don't like Salmon out of concern for a fishy gamy taste, you will not regret there Salmon at all. It's one of my favorite dishes. There Salmon is just as good as steak. Even taste like steak. If you haven't had J.Alexander's. Don't miss out. read more

The dish is simple: prime rib and mashed potato, but it is the most tender prime rib I have ever had. I was little full at that time but 16oz of prime rib gone before I could realize. read more

The service was outstanding but the steak Maui had very little flavor and was very tough. I have been many times and was terribly disappointed last night. Not sure if I'll be back. read more

J. Alexander's - steak and fries with baked macaroni on the side - New American Near Me - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

The best prime rib in town!!! If you never had prime rib be adventurous and give it a try. Of all the sides the Mac is the winner! NYO Mac and cheese is probably the best Mac I ever had. So much We cook a copy cat at home all the time. Every time I come here I always get the steak Maui or the pork loin. The hint of sweetness is my go to. read more

Great restaurant. It had been years since I visited here but I'm glad I went the other night. Perfect atmosphere for a date night. There was no wait time on a Saturday night around 7:30. The atmosphere is romantic with low lights. Our waitress was super friendly. She gave great suggestions. I had the Mexican spinach dip to start. It was amazing! Hot, nice and creamy with a side of diced tomatoes. Plenty of chips! For my meal I ended up going with the crab cakes. I subbed the fries for steamed broccoli. Fantastic! The crabs were lumped with a small batter on the top and bottom. The steamed broccoli was buttery and flavorful with Parmesan cheese. Due to the rise in crab the cost was $41.00 but it was delicious. For dessert I had the key lime pie! Easily shareable between 2. It was good. We had a lemon drop and another drink called Eden something. Both drinks were strong. I'm not a big drinker so it was too much for me. Definitely returning. read more

Food was alright. Service was ok. Atmosphere was nice. Just a "meh" experience. Unfortunately the steak had a sauce on it that we did not love. The artichokes were interesting, but not great. Ah! I wanted to love it but just didn't. read more

Everything is so yummy! It's a nice option for a little more upscale atmosphere without breaking the bank.

We came here for dinner last night, and all I have to say is WOW! J. Alexander's has definitely redeemed themselves in my book. Everything was perfect despite my last couple of visits being a bit underwhelming. We tried the deviled eggs which I honestly didn't care for.. they were a bit bland and dry. Other than that, our steaks were both cooked perfectly, and everything else was on point! My steak maui was everything I could ask for and more. It was such a tender piece! I felt so lucky! The not your ordinary mac & cheese was amazing as usual - I've never been disappointed with it. Our waiter, Britain, took great care of us last night. He did a great job with the wine presentation and had a nice easygoing attitude. Do request him for your next visit! read more

Ate here recently for the first time since the pandemic year. While I do not think the menu has changed significantly but what I thought about the menu then I still think about it---basically not a lot of options but what it does offer seems to be overpriced. This visit was around 4:00 pm when we arrived---in the restaurant area there were 5-6 tables where people were sitting and for whatever reason we were seated next to another party who coincidentally were having a good time, meaning loud. Still not sure of the reason we were seated next to another table (booth) when there were plenty of other tables /booths available. Our server was nice, knowledgeable and efficient in bringing our food and drink order which is great but my order of fish tacos was bland even when I then dunked one with tartar sauce. The order came with 3 fish tacos. All said Previous experiences here have usually been strong so I do look forward to returning again in 2023. read more

The prime rib is really tender. If you are a beef eater, it is as good as it gets. It is a really large portion as well. I also like their salads. Visited again and ordered something different. Absolutely loved it all! Had the spinach and queso dip, crab cakes and the not your average macaroni and cheese. read more

Amazing! Top tier service. Everyone was so prompt and kind. I was so pleased. The waiter ,Josh, was extremely knowledgeable and very kind. Everyone made sure to check that we were enjoying our visit. We got our food quickly , I was so surprised. I got the crab cakes and they were literally the best crab cakes I'd ever eaten. The drinks were really good also. Overall, I had a great experience and I'll definitely return! read more

The service and food was very good. I had a fried chicken salad. The atmosphere was very nice and inviting.

The ambiance is perfect. My server was attentive. And the raspberry cosmopolitan is the bomb!!!! I had a few. I ordered a steak burger, it was very tasty and the fries were good. I topped it off with a slice of carrot cake that was big enough to share. It was brought out warm and the cream cheese icing was good. I would definitely visit again! read more

Always good food & service. Nice place to enjoy a dinner - from a high end burger with thin cut fries to salad with raw tuna on top or simply a good steak. read more

Love this place. Never had a bad meal here. Service is second to none !! Very nice inside

We love going there. The food and service is very consistent. We love the Caesar salad but add the cornbread croutons. The grilled salmon is delicious with the broccoli. This restaurant is definitely in our rotation. read more

J. Alexander's is a multi-state chain restaurant with a personal touch. If you've traveled much in the US, you're probably familiar with this eatery. The Baton Rouge location is one of my favorite places to go when I need a "nicer" lunch or dinner but I don't want to completely break the bank. I have loved pretty much everything on their menu that I've tried which includes all sorts of things like tacos, salads, fancy sandwiches, burgers, and steak. The chicken pasta soup and mac and cheese are two of my favorite menu items. The service here is really top notch. The team takes really good care of you, usually. Note that the prices here are a bit higher than your average chain, but you're paying for a higher caliber of service and food. I recommend it! read more

Very disappointed in J. Alexander restaurant. I have been there a number of times and the food and service have always been great. Recently I made a reservation for 4 adults and wanted to add one more to my party to make 5. I was told they would not add another person to the table because they only had 5 tables available for groups larger than 4. These tables are first come first serve. I have never experienced anything like this. So you will be fine if you only need a table four. They will not reserve a table for five or more in your party! Thank you for responding to my review. The problem seems to be that the restaurant's website info on reserving tables for 5 or more in the group are not clearly stated. The website should state that reservations for 4 or less can be made. But if the party is 5 or more in the group, it is first come first serve since they only have a small number of tables for larger groups. read more

After a longer than expected wait time at a nearby restaurant, we called around searching for a shorter wait. I always had great food and a great experience at J Alexanders so we called for the current wait for a family of five and were told 15 minutes. We arrived in less than 10 minutes to be told we wouldn't be guaranteed a table. The guy who answered the phone had a very disingenuous and dismissive apology saying he thought we said party of 4. We had to return to our previous destination with an even longer wait time. Although I've had great experiences here and it's one of my favorites, I will not be back. read more

Since February, I have been to J. Alexander's twice. I sat in the dining area and both Abbi and Joseph were my servers. Food was great (if getting the tuna, get the ginger sauce on the side) and service was excellent. Thanks for the great food and service. Ambiance was very nice and relaxing while enjoying my meal. read more

Pretty consistent on food but gave me trouble about my federally licensed service animal - told me I can't feed her in the restaurant, I dine out frequently out all over baton rouge and New Orleans in much finer places and not to be like that. This was my first issue in Baton Rouge about it but I just know I will not come back. Other than that it's better than apple bees read more

This was a truly great steak house! I brought my family and my parents here on Christmas Eve and we were all quite pleased! First, our server was very attentive and on top of it. She knew the menu and was friendly. The only down side, because I'm in a calorie counting phase, J Alexander's doesn't have a calorie count/nutritional value for their menu. A little bothersome, but not even notable for most people. I got the filet mignon, which was 8oz of beautiful bliss in my mouth hole coupled with a delight of a baked potato and a magical bernaise sauce... Check it out, this is the place to go. read more

So I went with my mom and it was pretty great! I love the feel of the place and it's comfortable! I ordered a merlot which was fabulous( it was the second one from the top 9$ a glass ). And then we got the spinach & queso dip. Chips were super salty and I wasn't crazy about it for the price. The Alexa salad with the house dressing is probably one if my favorite salads ever. Seriously ate all of it. My mom got the club sandwich and she loved it. It's a lot of food for a sandwich. For my entree, fish of the day with white sauce. It was spicy and great and it was a big entree and it was seriously so great. Not too heavy. Also speghetti squash for a side is my favorite Bc it's healthy but tasty. I had a wonderful time with my mom & a wonderful meal. Everytime I come here, I try something different and I can honestly say I have always loved what I have tried and service has never disappointed -- one of my favorite restaurants. If you happen to be watching your weight, get the tuna salad ! And It's tasty read more

Excellent professional service. Clean environment with very good spacing between tables. Choice to use Your smartphone for menu or they provide paper menu if you prefer. Kept drinks full and checked back frequently. Artichoke appetizer was tasty as was the shrimp. Nice Mojitos! Our party each ordered the filet mignon with bernaise and all were well pleased ... not over salted just right flavor. Huge baked potato. Pricey but quality of food and exceptional service make it worth price for a special dinner. In these COVID days clean service matters!!! read more

Food was great. The experience was the best. The service was absolutely fantastic. I loved it there.

I forgot how nice this place is. I went recently after not going in many years. Makes a good spot for locals or visitors.

This was our first time at this restaurant. I went because today is my husbands 65th birthday & I did tell them we we're celebrating his birthday. It was on the piece of paper the server picked up at our table. But nothing was said or done. So that was very disappointing! Otherwise the food was really good. read more

The food is great I come here all the time but tonight my waiter Maddie was the rudest service I have ever experienced.
