We decided to dine in here since it's been forever since we last been here. I must say everything was good the spinach artichoke dip was so delicious. I love the whole vibe and atmosphere with the low dimmed lights. We had the best waiter! She was very friendly. My wife love the fact you can use the waiter app which is a plus for us. My friend and I always love the food at JA but Wednesday we were seated way in the back and then 5 men perhaps 20 to 30 years old were seated next to our both. They were so noisy we could not talk and hear our answers. Since I am handicap we chose not to ask to be moved, we ate our meal and left. A very poor celebration for us, the group of men seemed to enjoy their lunch. So self center, like we were in a bar. It will be a while before we come again . read more

I enjoyed a chill dinner with great service here at J. Alexander's on a week night. This steakhouse is spacious and we were able to get seated without a wait. The staff was welcoming and respectful (as expected for this type of restaurant) and our waiter was helpful when it came to questions about the menu. Food: I ordered the grilled salmon (great) which came with a side of orzo & wild rice (I was not a fan since it was cold and the rice mixed in could've been softer). I ended up enjoying my friends side of smashed potatoes. Despite the several notices on the menu that meat cooked medium-well or above is not offered or recommended I sure was pleased that my salmon dish was cooked perfectly medium-well and my friend's steak was also cooked perfectly medium-well :) Dessert: Delicious chocolate cake with a scoop of Vanille ice cream. So good! I was also large portion- enough for two. Drinks: I had hot tea for the night. I really appreciated the presentation/spread + addition of honey upon my request. Overall I was really satisfied with the portions/value and service. I'd recommend a visit and would likely return! read more

Looking for a great place for date night or just a family dinner this is the place. You can not go wrong with anything you pick off the menu. Every time I go I get something different and I am not disappointed by it. This time around I got one of their specials which was the snapper with garlic butter sauce and it was cooked to perfection. I also ordered the Alex Salad which I split with my husband and it was enough for both of us. I will tell you that their fries are better then any other restaurants that I ever had. After celebrating all weekend I decided to order take out for my actual birthday dinner. I ordered the steak Maui cooked medium with a loaded potato and Mac and cheese. The food was phenomenal and perfectly cooked. They even included extra glaze for the steak which was perfect. The potato was baked to perfection. I was expecting something different for the Mac and cheese but it was still really good. I'm not use to breadcrumbs being included. My friend asked me to meet her for dinner and because I choose the lay place she got to chose this time. The restaurant is kinda dark (I'm guessing it's supposed to be romantic) it was a Friday night but the place was kind of empty there was no wait. I had been craving some spinach and artichoke dip. They didn't have that but they had spinach queso. It is queso with spinach in it. It was really good. I ordered some chicken pasta that was very bland. I had to ask for some seasoning. Once I added the seasoning it was ok. I would definitely try the queso again read more

Their prime rib is very special. It is perfectly roasted and very tender. Actually, all of the food was great- except for the salmon dip appetizer. It tasted similar to tuna salad and wasn't very appetizing. The entree was great, but so were the sides. Their Mac and cheese is top notch, and so were the mashed potatoes. Don't miss the carrot cake, either. It was soft, warm, and oozing with cream cheese icing. Delish! read more

The best fine dining experience I have ever received in my 3 years here in Baton Rouge, hands down. I decided to take my girlfriend on a nice date here, after reading Yelp reviews. We had reservations, and were seated quickly. Our waiter was extremely attentive, without interrupting our conversation or meal! Even other waitresses waiting other tables interacted with us, recommending the desserts they were bringing to other tables. And this was even before we received our food!!!! For you bread lovers, sorry no bread offerings. But, the portions are so large, I'm telling you it's more than it's weight in gold! Even my photos don't do it justice. If you are vegetarian, they seem to have some options, considering the type of food they serve. J. Alexander's is truly a hidden gem tucked away at the Bluebonnet Mall. It's easy to get overlooked with so much going on over there. But Ladies and Gents, if your looking to spoil or impress your significant other, you are truly in trusted hands with J. Alexander's. My average review score 3.51 when I made this review--(take with a grain of salt) (I rely on Yelp to go to places with good reviews, may account for the higher average) read more

We didn't have a prefixed menu, so we got to order whatever we would have liked from the regular menu. There was such a good variety of options! I got the Brussels sprouts and boudin dip to start. I highly recommend both of these as the portion sizes were huge! The Brussels sprouts were burnt and balsamic like, which is my absolute favorite. The boudin dip came with so many crackers and was delicious. For my meal, I got the chicken paillard. It was good but the portion was very small compared to the appetizers in my opinion. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. It filled me up because I had two appetizers, but I don't think it would be enough for me without having something to go with it.

The food and service are consistently excellent. The seafood is always locally sourced, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I usually arrive with something in mind to order, but the nightly specials always sound too good to pass up, and they never disappoint. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: upscale yet inviting, with a Cajun charm. It's ideal for a nice dinner out, and business casual attire feels right at home. This is one restaurant I recommend with total confidence. If you love great seafood, you'll love Louisiana Lagniappe!

To be fair: my dine-in experiences have always been very good. This place is simply not equipped for curbside orders. I took away one star because there is no dedicated pickup parking. After a year of a pandemic any restaurant run by someone with brains knows there needs to be pickup spots near the door for fast delivery to waiting vehicles. I took away a second star because I arrived at the time I was told the order would be ready but it was not delivered to my vehicle until nearly 15 minutes after arrival. At no point was I contacted to be told the order would be late. I took away a third star because after having to call into the restaurant to notify them I was there, I got shunted around repeatedly and asked the same questions by each new person I spoke with. Again - clear evidence that this place does not take curbside orders seriously. I took away a fourth star because even when it was delivered to my vehicle the entree was not even warm; and if I'd been able to take away a fifth star, I would have, because my family-sized "three pound" order of prime rib actually weighed, when I checked at home, only 2 lbs 10 oz. WITH the container. Unfortunately, apparently 1 star is the lowest allowable rating so this place is getting a higher ranking than I believe they deserve. And since the food wasn't even warm when I got it, needless to say it was even worse when I got it home. Again, I've had great experiences dining in. This place should abandon take-out entirely until it hires people who understand how to do it properly. read more

When I arrived at this restaurant, I was disappointed by how I was greeted. The hostess at the entrance repeatedly asked if I was an Uber driver, even after I explained that I was there to dine and needed a table for two. The interaction made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, and I couldn't help but feel that it may have been influenced by my appearance. Because of that experience, I didn't feel at ease during my visit. I chose to take my food to go rather than eat in, as I no longer trusted that I would be treated with respect. For a restaurant that should be known for hospitality, this was far below expectations. I hope management takes this kind of feedback seriously and ensures all guests regardless of background or ethnicity are treated equally, it's still the South. read more

Enjoyed my first visit today. When I asked what kind of food they served, and was told it's just like Houston's was in Metairie, I was excited.
