Horsing around cup of coffee

Had breakfast at Izzy's on Sunday. Service was fantastic as always but even better for some reason. The ambiance is a home style BBQ meal restaurant. The food is great the people are friendly and welcoming. Give them a try. Open 8-2 everyday

What a great place! Friendly staff and service. I had the Country Scramble. It didn't disappoint! Down home cooking!

Came right back to this super cute great breakfast spot! Excellent counter service with Rae. She made us a perfect Bloody Mary!!I I ordered the same Swedish pancake breakfast and my BF ordered and enjoyed every bite of the chili cheese omelette. We will try the lunch side soon!!

I love this cafe! The food is always very fresh and served quickly. The ambiance is friendly and neighborly. The service cannot be beat your cup is alway refilled and your waitress continuously check on you.

Good Prices, great food, great service. Tip Julie well!!!

The place was packed when we stepped in a little before 1 on a Tuesday. A good sign. Didn't wait long for a cozy booth, maybe 10 minutes. There were several quirky cute diners in the area so it was tough to choose. Ultimately, Izzy's menu excited me more than the others. I love the barbecue brunch thing going on, too. Very unique and we totally would've tried some ribs had we not gone to Phil's for the first time the night before and had a ton of leftovers. We split a Country Benny and the Jalapeño scramble, which had their homemade pulled pork in it. Julie was an outstanding server. Super patient, attentive, and helpful. You can choose muffins or coffee cake (only $1 extra!) instead of toast, which I love by the way, but I really appreciated that she asked if I had tried the coffee cake because it's not what I thought it was. She explained it as more of a vanilla cupcake with nuts and white icing? Which is kinda random that they call it coffee cake, but it made us opt for the zucchini muffin which was definitely the right choice. Moist, warm, and delicious to nibble on while we waited for the rest of our meal. She also asked if we needed anything else, like salsa, when our entrees came. Which, I usually alwayyys have to request but she was 2 steps ahead of us. The Bloody Mary was tasty and just strong enough to start our afternoon. I'm a huge sucka for biscuits & gravy and theirs really hit the spot. The sausage patty was so good and definitely homemade. Perfectly poached eggs harmoniously smothered in yummy gravy and fluffy biscuits. Crispy hashbrowns, great country potatoes. The scramble was good, too. Pulled pork had a nice smoky flavor and I've never seen nor had it with eggs before which is awesome. The portions were just right. Not huge, but we got full and everything tasted great so what more can you ask for? The deep fried pie! Duh. Super bummed we didn't take a peach one home...

Eggs benedict with hashbrowns

We've been meaning to try Izzy's Cafe for a while, so we decided to try it this morning. We arrived a little before 10:30am. Plenty of parking on street and parking lot next door. We walked in and noticed it was a little loud but not overly crowded. You can tell they get alot of regulars here and we are about to become regulars ourselves. One of the waitresses said we can sit wherever, which I liked having an option. My husband ordered the strawberry stuffed crepes and I ordered the eggs benedict with hashbrowns. We both ordered coffee and liked the coffee. My husband says he liked his strawberry stuffed crepes, but they were very basic and nothing special about them. I loved my eggs benedict and hashbrowns. The waitresses were all very nice, it was a decent price too. They have a huge menu, so we will definitely be back again to try their lunch menu next.

Eggs Benedict. Hollandaise is pretty good, has browns cooked flat and crispy, muffin toasted and coffee pretty good. Eggs undercooked

This used to be a good place but now, between the smaller portions and the waitress drama with two of them, I'm done. The new waitress who used to be a busser is really nice as is the woman with the German accent but there are two of them who are interested more in their referent power than serving customers. You can wait a long time during the meal if they want to talk to each other or customers who are friends.

Good basic diner/cafe. Prices are fair. Service is okay. If in the neighborhood I'd return.

We always have friendly and fast service, the menu is extensive, everything we've ever tried is amazing and the beers are always cold! Can't ask for much more... except there is! The portions are huge! Each reasonably priced meal is at least 3 meals for me. The meat (especially the tri tip - IMO my fave) is so tender and juicy! They have a wide range of sauces to try and I love the horseradish cream. They have indoor and outdoor seating, are dog friendly and only open Thursday-Sunday so beware! Don't skip on this spot because it's a little hidden (industrial area of El Cajon). It's well worth the adventure to get there! Ps. Anyways.. we ordered at the counter and our food was brought out to us after just a few minutes.. I got there pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich had a huge amount of pulled pork. This, and their tri tip sandwich was savory and satisfying. Husband got the baby back ribs. They came off the bone easily. My family esp enjoyed their Mac n cheese balls with the dip that comes it. The sides are purchased separate and come in generous sharing portions. We enjoyed the sweet potato fries, potato wedges, and onion rings. All nice n crisp. By that point, I was too full and took some bread pudding home for later. I enjoyed the flavor, but the texture was bit too mushy for me. The ladies working were incredibly friendly and sweet to everyone. A nice casual, clean dining area. There were multiple TVs on showing sports, without it being super loud. The dining area was actually a bit quiet until more people started showing up. Prices are fair. Definitely a place to try.

Honestly this is the best place for BBQ in all of San Diego !…read more I ordered the following below: *Grand Ole Beef Rib: 5/5 - The best ribs I have ever had ! Yes they are pricey, and you can only order a minimum of 1lb. However, the rib is so juicy, soft, and tender it literally falls off the bone ! It is seasoned so well you don't even have to add bbq sauce ! I was full just eating both these ribs ! *Tri-Tip Sandwich: 4/5 - A very great and tasting sandwich ! The meat its self is very tasty, juicy, & tender. The bun does complement it pretty well as well as its soft yet crispy. The chimichurri is a nice addition. *French Fries: 5/5 - Golden, crispy, seasoned fries. A great option to be paired with your delicious meats ! Fluffy white potato on the inside yet crispy and ridged on the outside ! *Mac & Cheese: 3/5 - Average mac & cheese. Was creamy, less cheesy. The macaroni was cooked perfectly however I felt it needed more salt, cheese or something to make it stand out more. Upon entering this establishment there is a lot of old western theme ! A buck in the wall, nice old oak bar, wooden tables and chairs ! They also have seating outside in the back where sometimes they play live music ! In addition on hot days they have some mist and fans spraying around to keep you cool ! The service was exceptional ! I always love coming to this place ! Very great food ! Nice vibes and friendly people !

Pioneer Bbq smokes their meats with white oak which gives their meats a smoky flavor without the bitter aftertaste. Pork baby back ribs were tender and had a smoky aroma and flavor from the white oak.  Dry rub gave the ribs a bit of sweetness from the brown sugar and some spice from the black pepper.  Very tasty. Prime beef brisket was tender and juicy.  Peppercorn based dry rub and the smoky flavor combined with the high quality beef into some delicious brisket. Staff was nice and efficient.  I'll miss this place Chef Hanis created.  I was told I could get the same Texas style bbq at a sister restaurant Del's Hideout which employs the same Executive Chef Tim Eylens.  It was back in 2011 I first sampled Chef Hanis food at Carnitas Snack Shack.  Best carnitas I ever had.  It's been since 2023 when I last saw Chef Hanis at the now closed Carbon Bbq.  I hope he is doing well. https://www.hungryones.com/2023/08/carbon-bbq/ To absent friends, lost loves, old gods, and the season of mists; and may each and every one of us always give the devil his due. Ordering was quick and simple at its own window the. We got a booth by the bar. We had a buzzer that rang almost immediately. I grabbed my own michelada while my partner was grabbing the food. They had on a few movies no loud music blaring and I can see it would get loud when packed. Brisket was amazing and this is my go to next time. The jalapeño link was also delicious. The beef rib was a lil dry which was disappointing I love a good beef rib. Pulled pork would be great on a sandwich. Cole slaw had no onions and it was my perfect complement to the bbq sauce. The Mac and cheese was sooooo rich and delicious. Quick tip ask for more bbq sauce if you're like me and drown your meat. Michelada was ok I'll probably just get a beer next time.

Problem though by that time some of the items were already sold out. Live and learn. No tri tip, links, or beef ribs. Just two of the three things I had zeroed on when looking online. Thank goodness they still had brisket! I noticed that the larger pieces which I assume were from the center of the cut were tender and juicy but some of the smaller pieces were drier and needed sauce. So that was a bit of a mix mix. Pork ribs. Could have been better. Red chili: I liked this a lot. Generous chunks of beef. Great seasoning. Sides: the fries and mac cheese are outstanding! Ambiance is lively. A lot of Halloween decor. Family friendly! Ample outdoor and inside (where bar is). Large beer menu. Order food at window. We got our food immediately at the window and just needed to find a table. There was a very pleasant young man working the tables. Very cheerful. Note: I have had take out before and the tri tip was great. So bummed wasn't there. Rating based on my dine in experience.
