Ordered this through uber eats and this picture shows what it looked like out of the foil.

Burrito In A Bowl
Lydia P.

I come here often since it's close to work but they keep getting worse on portion sizes. I ordered a burrito bowl today and they wouldn't even give me a whole scoop of anything and filled my bowl up only halfway. He then put chips on top that got soggy, I asked for a bag for the chips and he just gave me a plastic Togo bag. The only time I've ever had more chips than actually food.

The nacho's are $10 and they don't hardly put any cheese sauce. The food is a little better than Taco Bell but not much. The DO NOT have the salsa bar any more! For 1 order of nachos, and a beef quesadilla ( one tortilla folded in half so basically 1/2 quesadilla with a medium drink with tax was over $30 The cheese wasn't even all the way melted on the quesadilla

Shrimp burrito bowl

Seriously, favorite lunch spot. The employees are super friendly. It's very clean every time I come here. The food is always super fresh and great. They were literally grilling the meat when we got there. I either get the burrito bowl or the burrito itself. I never have to take any home because it's too good to not devour right there. I will say this- the illegal sauce is very hot. Like too spicy for me. I would get it on the side if you are wanting to try it.

I really do enjoy the flavors and size of these burritos. My problem is that they're poorly wrapped. Every time I have ordered one it always unravels after two bites. Today the tin foil wasn't even wrapped properly. As you can see neither the burrito or the foil is closed at the end.

Get a kids size because the burritos are HUGE! Service was good. The line was long either. Nice and clean inside too.

We have been regular customers here weekly for over two years…read more Jim Uridales goes out of his way to cook the most delicious cuisine in our area. There are many choices on the menu. Tonight I got Spanish coffee and a chili relleno. The Spanish coffee is an alcohol drink that can be used as a dessert. Yummy! The chili rellenllo was filled with dellicious ground seasoned beef. It has a coating and is deep fried. The pulled pork quesadillas are so yummy- this is what my hubby got tonight. I like the way the seating is here. There are booths and tables and all are comfortable. Though you may be sitting near another table, the acoustics are such that others talking are not bothersome. This is a pet peeve for me- many times I would rather eat at home - but here, the restaurant here feels like our family now. They are known for their delicious margaritas; but the bar can mix most any drink . I love Mestizos, the yummy food and varied menu mmm is the word! My husband and I are self proclaimed foodies. We love most everything on their menu. The chefs Dad owned a Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge for years- " Carlos" Uridales inspired his son, Jim, to open his own restaurant. Mestizos has been in business for over 25 years. Jim Uridales and his crew are also benevolent members of Baton Rouge and they are a service oriented group of professionals. The menu prices are slightly higher on some items, however, scallops with shrimp here are very delicious and perfectly browned in a buttery flavored manner and this menu item sells for 30 dollars and it's the most costly entree on the menu. Their tapas menu is more budget friendly and delicious. I urge you to try this delicious menu for yourself. We love their catering department too!

Update. 2026. I mean, Jim Urdiales, the owner chef, is a friend. We were on the same culinary tour…read moreof the Yucatán. But this lunch is absolutely delicious. Mark Twain, or someone was famous for saying that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. And today I say with absolute sincerity (but slightly tongue in cheek), that the best meal I ever had in Mexico City was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. If Michelin ever gives stars in Baton Rouge, Mestizo should on the list. Try the scallops in mole verde and the salmon in mole pistachio.

We came on a Sunday, and I got a delicious brunch!…read more The restaurant wasn't busy for an early lunch, so we got seated right away. Immediately upon walking in, I loved all of the colors and the vibes of this Mexican restaurant. When you sit down, they bring chips and salsa to your table. I wasn't a huge fan of the salsa or the chips. The chips had some seasoning on them and to me, it didn't mix well with the salsa. The salsa was really thin, and I prefer a chunky salsa with a salted thick chip lol. I was feeling adventurous and got the French toast on the brunch menu. It was delicious! The berry compote and the two different syrups paired really well with it. The bacon that it came with was perfection. I ate every last bite. I did have a bite of my friends tacos, and they were good but on smaller side in my opinion. Our waitress was great and there were plenty of tvs to watch while we waited. But, we never waited long for anything!

We came in from Texas ready for margaritas and tacos. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill…read morepretty quickly. First, we were told shortly after arriving that we would have to leave in an hour and a half. Nothing says "welcome, enjoy your dinner" quite like starting the meal with a countdown clock. I will give them this: the margaritas come in a to-go cup, which I actually thought was a great idea. Unfortunately, the margarita itself was HORRIBLE. It tasted like I was sucking on a salt block. I tried to send it back, but instead of simply replacing it, our waiter argued with me about why it tasted salty. He insisted it was because there was salt on the rim and some of it must have fallen into the bottom of the cup. I watched how they salted the rim, so that explanation made absolutely no sense. Since we were apparently dining against the clock, I finally gave up arguing and said I'd try another one without salt on the rim. Plot twist: still tasted like a salt block. The chips and salsa weren't bad but nothing to note either, so there's that. The portobello mushroom taco, however, left a LOT to be desired. The cheese was scorched onto the tortilla, and the mushrooms were seared into crunchy little bits. I genuinely did not know mushrooms could achieve that level of crunch until today. Someone in our party ordered the Pollo de Mar dinner, which was overpriced and, unfortunately, just as disappointing. Between the unnecessary time limit, the waiter arguing with me over a drink I clearly didn't like, the salt-lick margaritas, scorched tacos, and overpriced food, this was definitely not the experience we were expecting. The to-go margarita cup was probably the highlight. Unfortunately, I didn't want to take the margarita anywhere and threw it away.
