Having grown up on a farm with a life long history of public and military service, I do like…read morehunting and fishing and I work very hard to stay proficient in safety in all of my endeavors. I do travel a bit and have the ability to take advantage of 5 outdoor and 4 indoor ranges including this one. They all have different rules and personalities along with different strengths and weaknesses. I am struggling between a 2 and 3 star rating for various reasons but will give benefit of the doubt for a 3 star due to the nature of the actual ranges. I do visit others with less resources and farther away more frequently. I have left reviews of this specific range in the past and felt like leaving another after visiting the public use portion of the range a couple of days in a row and it being post COVID for the most part. I decided not to renew my membership at this range this year for various reasons including the ability to zero rifles at the public range for $10 still. I still believe the public range is a good starting place for very new shooters since there is a lot of supervision and willingness to give pointers by the hard working volunteers. I also believe it is a good place to zero a hunting rifle or visit prior to hunting season for a once a year check or if you are an avid paper puncher/bench person. The member side has a lot of assets and there is hardly ever anyone else using them except for a group shoot every now and again. I do find it odd that such nice resources go so underutilized in an era of waiting lists and such at other ranges I am familiar with, but it is an advantage to being a member if you like the ability to shoot at ranges without much competition for range space. Btw it is also a requirement to be an NRA member to be a member of the shooting club and I believe it is best to hang out with a long term member for a bit if you do join. Just my 2 cents and be safe and responsible out there! Cheers

Getting cold outside? There's almost always a fire going in the clubhouse. Very well priced for a very clean range. I highly recommend checking it out for yourself.

I called Ruger several times to confirm his words. Ruger mentioned they had not received the rifle in for repair and they had never heard of this shop. They added that his shop was not registered as an FFL to do business with them. When I called him numerous times out of concern to discuss this, he did not return a single message. When I went to pick the rifle up, he told me it was repaired. He lied to me again. When I got back to the house, it was apparent that nothing had been repaired and it was never sent to Ruger. If he could not perform the service or just flat out didn't want to work with me, he should have said so instead of wasting valuable time. I have been looking for ways to do business locally but he has no stock just mostly used firearms. Most ppl would like to handle a firearm before purchase. He can order it for you though. I dislike writing reviews like this but feel ppl need to know of this experience. As my partner and I are both firearms instructors, we will be sure to advise people of more reputable and dependable shops (Mazama's) in the future.

For an outdoor state, with lots of hunting, I've found a rather large dearth of good, outdoor…read moreranges. Plenty of indoor ones which, I suppose, makes sense due to the wet weather. But honestly, I want rough terrain, the ability to move about and shoot at different elevations, and the flexibility to set up tactical scenarios. The Albany Rifle and Pistol Club achieves all this and more. I was able to spend a day shooting here with some co-workers and, although I had toured previously, this was the first chance I got to actually use the facilities. The set-up is definitely intended for police, military, and experienced shooters. Not to say that they wouldn't welcome new and learning shooters, but I strongly, STRONGLY suggest that if you are new to the sport/defense, you have someone experienced with you if you come here. I didn't shoot on any of the indoor benches or the skeet shoot or rifle ranges, but instead headed up with the guys to the North tactical ranges. Twelve different shooting bays are stationed around a small hill, and it's first come/first served. We were able to snag a range all the way at the end, load up some barrels, and set up our targets. We spent a good day shooting, without any distractions from other shooters and without having to wait for the firing line to clear so that we could reset targets. There are a number of range rules, but rangemasters are not present on each range, so it's up to you to be safe. I prefer this, myself. The price is a little high, especially upon initial enrollment, but the price goes down from there. There are also incentives for members of law enforcement and there are a number of classes and events that are hosted here. An excellent place to go shoot in the Willamette Valley, definitely.

I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

The course itself was 14 hours over two days including breaks every hour including one hour for lunch for each day. During the course you'll receive everything you need to enter the world of private security including a hundred page manual which the instructor will go over with you and answer any questions you have. The course is finished with a fifty question test that is open note, but if you pay attention in class and write down what you need, consulting notes on the test will only slow you down. Seriously, I'm a terrible test taker but I scored around 95%. The hardest part is the second day where you'll start to feel training fatigue but it's nothing a little coffee and a vape/cigarette can't fix. At the very end of the course you'll get all the paper work you need for submission to obtain your license. The owner, Donovan Beard, will also help answer any questions you have. Mr. Beard sat in for most of our training, though I think this was mostly for Mr. Nichols' benefit since he is a newer instructor. Surprising since it doesn't show. Anyway, 5/5. You'll have your license in no time.
