My son and I used the Northwest Arsenal facility back in late March 2025. We stopped by mid-afternoon on a weekday so it was empty when we arrived, but got pretty busy by the time we left. Absolutely the best experience ever! My wife and I came in on a dreary day with hopes to have some fun sighting in a new CX4 and a first firing of a new HK-VP9SK. Oh yea, how about a chance to dump some UZI and M-16 mags? We were fortunate enough to meet Chris and the guy was nothing less then a friendly professional, I have never encountered someone who was so welcoming and connected with what we wanted to do. My husband told me about this place because he'd been there a time or two for work. Props to them for supporting the business my husband works for. I wanted to go check it out and see what it was all about. I knew they had a shooting range from when it was the Baron's Den, but that's about it. We walk in and were immediately greeted by a guy named Christian. He was super friendly and helpful. He spent probably a solid 30 minutes talking to us, walking us through what they offered, answered questions, and just chatted with us. We basically said, tell us about everything you do here, and gave him free reign to direct the conversation. So he took that opportunity and ran with it! To use the range, they offer a membership, but it's also open to the public. Being a member gives you more options in terms of what weapons you can use on the range, which is great. Christian answered all my questions about that to determine which option is better. Not trying to sell the membership specifically, it was more, here's your options, and let me me draw my own conclusions. They require a specific kind of ammo to use on their range, which they sell there. I run specific brands for target practice as well as at home/personal defense. So the question was, is my preferred brand acceptable? Nope, ok. So what calibers do they offer? We talked about that. I found the more I talked with Christian, the more questions I had, and he was happy to answer them all. We got to check out and kind of tinker with the guns they rent out for range use. This was fun because it gave my husband the opportunity to check out some viable handgun options he may want to consider later, and since they're available to rent, he can try them out too. He hates my handguns because they don't fit his hands, so finding him something he may want to carry in the future just thrills my little black soul. Would I come back? Absolutely! It's a great place to learn about guns, ask questions, and really just explore. I love going somewhere that I'm free to ask questions and really learn more about a hobby I love. I've been a member for almost a year now, and have been treated poorly on every occasion I've been in to use the range(s). Unfortunately only one or two of the arsenal staff have customer service experience, and the others exhibit a negative attitude toward many members and non-members. The dirty looks, rude comments, and negative vibes are enough now, to make me look for somewhere else to take my business. It doesn't matter if you ask if there's anything wrong, lodge a complaint, or email the management, it will be ignored. Bad employee behavior is tolerated here. It's quite sad. read more

A one stop place for shooting enthusiasts. The 4th and 5th star in my rating come from the helpful staff and the most capable indoor shooting range in the area that I have found. The staff is friendly, family orientated and very knowledgeable. They are all longer term employees and have a willingness to help whether you are new or more seasoned in the sport. All of the ranges I frequent are very nice and well maintained. They are fairly similar with fewer differences than the outdoor ranges I frequent. This being said, I would rate all of the indoor ranges in the 4-5 range so for Northwest Arsenal's gun range to stand out it this group as it does, it gets the 5th star. Out of the 5 indoor ranges I frequent around the I 5 corridor, this one is the most capable in caliber, size/capacity, gun rental, and full auto rental. It is on par with the others in the areas of records keeping, courses, target system and ventilation. So if you are looking for a place to practice, or try before you buy in the Eugene Oregon area, stop by Northwest Arsenal and chat with the staff. read more

My wife and I have been shopping for a handgun for a few months, but have had a hard time finding one of the guns we've been considering. We wanted to be able to handle them before deciding on one. I called NWA and they said that they have all three guns that we're considering available to rent at their gun range, that not only could we ahold them, we could actually fire them. So we went in yesterday & let them know we're total newbs & asked if there was an instructor available to guide us. Just so happened that a group was clearing out and that Bekah was available to walk us through everything. She was awesome! Very patient and encouraging. She walked us through gun safety and gave us some practicing tips. We plan on making dates to the gun range a part of our routine. (And we decided on a gun!) read more

Visited with my wife for first time. We are purchasing 2 handguns and wanted to get a feel for different ones using their range. Quality time was spent going through safety and handling of the firearms. I returned with my son and Grandson and had a great time. Would recommend to those just starting out or experienced. Real helpful! I had ZERO gun knowledge and recently bought a handgun. Couldn't even load the thing, let alone handle one safely. I rented a lane, bought some ammo and targets and staff FREE OF CHARGE spent at least an hour showing me literally all the basics I needed to safely handle a gun. Felt like a class, I got educated folks...felt like I should have paid. I offered a tip, he wouldn't take it. Wouldn't even take a soda HA. NW Arsenal, from my take on it, is a group of young guys that invested all they got (and then some) into creating a business. I have had mixed experiences in this store. I'm new to the AR world and attempted to buy a gun on sale there, but ended up going with Mazama's offering because of the staff at NWA being impatient, assuming much about my needs and not being direct in answering certain questions. I would and still do prefer to support as small a shop as possible in each area I live, but for a time NWA has lost my respect. I will try again, but have given at least a year before planning to going back. Took the intro to hand gun course and had a good time. Instructors were thorough, professional, and methodical with their teaching. Experience of students ranged from people brushing up to students who never touched a gun and were terrified. Overall a great course with lots of knowledge and methodology that I would highly recommend for anybody wanting to learn or brush up. I especially liked the ability to rent a firearm there for the course as well. read more

This place is an utter delight. Friendly, helpful staff, easygoing atmosphere, and you can fire a full-auto sub-machine gun for a flat twenty bucks. It's got none of the weird hostility or ideological shit that too many gun shops have; while I was there, I saw a trans woman and a black woman come in together, and they were given the same warm welcome and top-notch friendly service that I, a big white guy, received. I wish that kind of atmosphere were standard at gun shops and shooting ranges, but Northwest Arsenal is someplace special. read more

I went to NW Arsenal today with my father, brother and girlfriend. I remember going here when it was "The Barron's Den". Firstly, they make you use non-lead bullets. So I couldn't use all of my existing cartridges and I had to purchase ammo from them. I asked for 38 caliber, and they didn't have ANY. Really? That is not an exotic caliber. Next I bought several boxes of 9mm Luger non-lead. I loaded it in my trustly Glock 17 that I have been shooting for 25 years with no issues. That strange, high friction coating on the non-lead bullets kept jamming my Glock. No cartridges have ever not fed correctly in my 17 before. It got so frustrating that I simply stopped shooting my favorite gun. I have to use their ammo that doesn't feed in my most reliable gun? This is a deal breaker for me. Great selection and friendly staff but their prices are high, often above manufacturer suggested retail price. If you purchase an upgrade such as a hand guard they will install for you but they always try to keep the tools that come with the product so you can't modify at home. I don't know if this is forgetfulness or intentional but be sure to ask for your stuff or you will never see it again. Also, do some shopping around online before you come in. Sure shipping costs might make an online bargain not as much of a bargain but often times you can get things online cheaper even after shipping costs. All and all I don't mind paying a little extra to support a local business, but I also don't appreciate being price gouged. read more

I went to the shop today to buy a Taurus pistol that they listed as in stock on their website. I'd been in before when shopping for my wife and had gotten a shotgun from them. I wanted to get some shells for it too but they had almost no inventory of 12 gauge and no home defense loads at all. Plus, as another reviewer has mentioned, they do not stock 38 caliber ammo for their range, which I thought was weird. When I asked about Charter Arms guns, I got this dismissive, Oh we don't carry Charter Arms, answer that made it clear they believed they were trash and so was anyone who would want one. This, plus the no 38 cal and almost no 12 gauge ammo led me to believe that they are rather elitist and focused primarily on the machine guns and wanna be combat stuff. And their pricing led me to believe they were generally overpriced. My wife was interested in a S&W Bodyguard 38 they had, but they wanted over $500 for it. Cabella's had it for $280, so we got it plus some ammo for it, plus some ammo for my 12 gauge, all for less than just the revolver at NWA. Jump forward about a month and I am down there to pick up this Taurus they have listed on sale and in stock on their website. It was a good price and I prefer to give local shops my business when I can. And again I get the dismissive, oh we don't carry Taurus, answer. I point out that it is listed on their website and that it is on sale and they claim to have it in stock. I make it clear I just drove an hour to get this and will have another hour's drive to get home. No apologies, no offers to try and make anything right. Just attitude and excuses. First it was "we don't maintain the website" to which I replied, but it's your website with your name and contact info. Then they say, it says on the site that quantities listed are not about in-store quantities. I point out that this is not true, it says no such thing, besides that would be an issue of quantity and you're telling me you do not ever carry the brand at all, so the listing on your website is false and not just mistaken about quantities available. Again no apologies, nothing but a long drawn out silence. Poor inventory, poor attitude, poor customer service, and a lot of self-satisfied, smug, holier-than-thou attitude. Not the way to rebuild a business Oh and BTW, I went on down to Cabella's and got my Taurus. That's 2 guns, a dozen boxes of ammo for 3 different guns, a holster, a laser and flashlight setup for my 12 gauge, and a concealed carry purse for my wife (all told over $1200) that they lost out on, just with me. If they keep driving customers away like this, they won't be around very long. Maybe some folks are impressed by the wannbe macho pseudo combat nonsense and the snobby ways. Me, I'll never step foot in that place again. read more
