I took a rifle in for warranty service. He assured me several times over a 3+ week period that he had sent it back to the manufacturer to be worked on. He lied to me about this. I called Ruger several times to confirm his words. Ruger mentioned they had not received the rifle in for repair and they had never heard of this shop. They added that his shop was not registered as an FFL to do business with them. When I called him numerous times out of concern to discuss this, he did not return a single message. When I went to pick the rifle up, he told me it was repaired. He lied to me again. When I got back to the house, it was apparent that nothing had been repaired and it was never sent to Ruger. If he could not perform the service or just flat out didn't want to work with me, he should have said so instead of wasting valuable time. I have been looking for ways to do business locally but he has no stock just mostly used firearms. Most ppl would like to handle a firearm before purchase. He can order it for you though. I dislike writing reviews like this but feel ppl need to know of this experience. I've recently been looking at purchasing a handgun, for several reasons. I had been looking at Cabela's, and had an idea of what I wanted. Found a decently priced used one at Cabela's. But, I wanted to go look at Gun Pro too. Plus, this place was highly recommended to me by my buddy, Matt. Matt and I went in yesterday. It's this tiny shop off 44th and Main St. I honestly would've sailed right past it, because I had no idea where it was, and it's a pretty small shop. We went in and the guy working, I'm presuming the owner, greeted us as soon as he was done with his current customer. I thought I wanted a Glock 27 for my handgun. The owner said it wasn't something he carried, but it could be special ordered easily, if that's what I was set on. I thought I wanted the Glock 27 because it came recommended by my two best friends, independently of each other. The owner asked me what I wanted it for, and I explained the situation to him, and some specifications I wanted. I may carry it concealed after I obtain my permit to do so, which is on the list of things to do. He gave me his recommendation on who to do my CCP with. I also want something small. Unless I'm buying a 1911, I don't want a handgun that's bigger than I am. So with my reasons for wanting a handgun, my specifications as to why I thought the Glock 27 was a good choice, and a few other questions answered, he set about showing me other options. He showed me around 5-6 handguns. I narrowed it down to 3, and then we went into specifics. I've shot many guns in my life, but I've never owned one of my own. So I never really paid attention to grip size, how manageable it felt to me, trigger safety, and all the details that differ from one gun to the next. I learned about them all in here. This guy seriously took the time to not only educate me on how the different safety features work for each handgun, but asked questions about where I planned to carry it, and made recommendations based on my individual needs/plans. Really took the time to explore the pros and cons of each gun, based on my needs. With this info, I was able to eliminate 1 of the guns because I wasn't a fan of the safety. Now we're down to 2. Now it came down to feel, weight, and slide. He made me pull the slide back, which isn't as easy as it looks. Lol. But we explored everything about the 2 I had it down to. Finally decided. Awesome. He gives me the price on it, starts telling me about the background check and the price. I hadn't mentioned my budget, but I had a pretty specific price range in mind when I walked in there. This guy, without knowing specific numbers, actually stayed at the low end of my price range. He didn't try to up-sell me on anything ridiculous or overpriced, at all. No pressure. As we were wrapping things up, he told me if I wanted it right then, I had an hour before they closed, or my next option would be when they opened again on Tuesday. Absolutely no pressure. At Cabela's, it was, you made your choice. Let's get this gun out the door like yesterday. Also told me if I found it cheaper than him, to let him know. It was unlikely, but anything is possible. Subsequently, I returned to Cabela's, armed with new information as to what features I liked and didn't like in guns. I ended up hating the Glock 27 in the end. Which I found interesting. I also noticed the sales staff does nothing in terms of recommendations, asking about your individual needs, or anything. It's, here, touch this and decide now. That's it. Plus significantly higher prices. The gun I ended up choosing was $420. Cabela's wanted $500. Would I return to this shop? I fully plan for them to be the exclusive place I buy my firearms from! The impression I got in here was flawless. The customer service, no pressure salesman, the attention to details, great prices. I first heard about GunPro when I used to live down the street about 5 years ago. I went in once with a friend and was surprised at how friendly the owner (Neal) was. I recently decided to get back into shooting after almost a 25 year break, and after doing some online research I went to GunPro remembering how kind and friendly the owner had been back then. I was very impressed with how patient they were with someone like myself who is basically starting over as a beginner. The owner showed me several different handguns and after making a decision I purchased a gun that I am very happy with. I should also point out that the price for this brand new weapon was an amazing deal...one of my friends who is a very experienced gun owner told me to check Budsguns.com for the best price and then have it shipped to this store. Well guess what...the firearm I purchased at GunPro was even lower than Bud's, and no shipping or FFL fees to deal with! Other friends of mine who are gun enthusiasts all recommended GunPro and told me to stay far away from the other stores in the area. I also checked out a pistol at Cabelas and found the clerk to be rather unfriendly and not very helpful. Believe me as a guy in his 40s, it is intimidating as hell to walk into a gun store and explain that you're a complete greenhorn and you could easily be taken advantage of by an unscrupulous salesperson. The folks at GunPro treat you right, have great prices and you will also get a discount at the local range to try out your new firearm. Which is exactly what I did the next day after my purchase. I am extremely pleased with my new firearm and am looking forward to many more days at the range. As someone who has been working with customers for more than 20 years, I wish I could say that most people who work with the public know how to treat customers well. Sadly, many do not...but the folks at GunPro certainly do. My only minor criticism would be that while I was at the store their radio played a Justin Bieber song. I went to Gun Pro to buy a handgun. After checking my grip, hand strength, etc. they sold me a gun that I can NOT shoot. At the range I had to use both hands to pull the trigger, and even then with great difficulty. I found out the handle does Not even come close to fitting my hand either. I tried to return the gun to Gun Pro, but they refused, and said they'd charge me to sell the 'used' gun for a fraction of what I had just paid for it, even though the situation was entirely their fault. Plus, they actually thought they could convince me to buy another gun from them. I was also told not to worry because my adrenalin would change everything and I'd be able to shoot an intruder. Wonderful! They expect that I'd be able to stand there, worried and uncertain, and gamble my life that I'd be able to shoot before I was overpowered. I saw other reviews about how 'friendly' they 'acted'. Get real. Intelligent people aren't interviewing actors. They want people who don't place greed above the lives of the people whose money they're taking. read more
